I hate touchscreens on everything. Especially ones without any haptic feedback.

Touching a glass screen is never satisfying. I don't care if it's got a pretty button on it.

I hate that my new coworker spends what seems like 3/4 of her time in the office watching Colbert and Daily Show and reading BuzzFeed. But I hate far more than that the fact that the woman who sits between us (the 1/4-time mommyfessional and self-appointed office den mother) immediately headed me off when she noticed my annoyance, presuming to order me not to say anything to the new coworker "because that's how she works and you're not going to change her, so just let it go". I'm the new girl's supervisor - it's my job to correct her.

Jesus. Is your office environment so toxic that you weren't able to pull the bitch aside and establish how YOU expect her to work without risking some bullshit HR issue? I hope you were able to check that behavior, because that kind of shit is what will create festering resentment, not just of her but also of you by any other employees who report to you, and you will soon have bigger issues to deal with.

That's what was so irritating about the second woman's interference. I was considering how to correct the new girl's malingering constructively, and the den mother apparently read my mind. Now my more pressing concern is the den mother undermining my authority with her interference and micromanaging shit-tests.

Supervisory stuff is new to me (as in, several weeks), so I'm still finding my footing. Funny how you can hear what a pain women are in the workplace, but you still don't fully grasp it until you have a critical mass of them and are in a position where you need to address it.

I really need to work on my reflexes so I can sear their fucking retinas with my high beams when they do it. It happens to me at least once literally every time I go out driving at night.

You should try it on the narrow country lanes in England. I had forgotten about this, thanks for raising my blood pressure by 50% from reading this
