Roos are tuff mother fuckers, I hit one in my car once, it looked like both its legs and arms were broken, I like animals and i felt sorry for it, so I got out and grabbed a dead branch and went to hit it on the head to put it out of its misery. Big mistake, it was a big buck and managed to kick me straight back on my ass. They usually run away but when backed into a corner and pissed off, they can do some damage.

In regards to that Emu war, what idiot considered it a good idea to use a machine gun on Emus? Why not just allow people to shoot the Emus individually with hunting rifles and save time and money? Ah Australia, Australia...

Nope bullets seem to quite easily kill Roos. Killed my first one a few years back as a rookie shooter with a .22 shot toe shoulder from 50 meters.

What non-Aussies or even a lot of city-dwelling Aussies don't realize is that about 5 million Roos are culled each year by hunters paid by the government. Not to mention the never ending stack of carcasses beside every inland highway.

There is an estimate 50 million, more than the wild pig population here. They're going unchecked because they have almost few predators and go crazy eating crops of grain/wheat farms.

Very few tears are shed for them by anyone other than teenage girls and wildlife activists.

This kangaroo probably got hit by a truck or shot five minutes after being punched.

Wow that was a legit choke.

Also notice how they use their tail as a third leg, leaning back into it and using both feet at once to attack. Never knew that. That tail must be strong as hell.

This reminds me of a rabbit hole I sometimes go into - watching animals grapple on YouTube.

Hunting in Australia is often about quantity rather than quality.

I used to chat on a shooting forum with the bloke that took this footage.





So yeah, that's a helicopter going sideways at about 35mph while the passenger shoots emus at full trot with an 1887 lever action shotgun (stupid gun laws occasion stupid guns, but you'd recognise the model from Teminator 2). He told me it might look like fun, but those are some big stations up there and after about 1000 round through the gun all you want to do is go home and pump your shoulder full of local anaesthetics.

A real pest apparently. They eat a lot of crops and ruin plenty more.

Is emu meat as good as ostrich? If so, that would be a tremendous waste if he did not harvest that meat. Ostrich meat is expensive as fuck here.

Thankfully, in keeping with the zookeepers code, the man declined the second bribe and both: saved Tyson's life and prevented future heavyweight hopefuls from having to challenge a gorilla for a shot at the title belt.
