As someone who lives in Winterland (Canada) I know a bit about coats.

Here are some cool parkas that are in the same price range as Canada Goose:

1) Mackage: A bit more expensive than Canada Goose but more stylish. Also it's a bit less resistant and less warm. Cost: 900$

Here is what it looks like:

   

2) Parajumper: This one is trendy here in Canada. I don't really like how it looks and I find it quite expensive for what it is. Not as warm as Canada Goose. (700-1000$)


   


3) Moose Knuckle: Also trendy, I have never tried it but here is what it looks like. I like the style. Cost: 850$


   


4) Moncler: More expensive but more stylish. I can't talk about the quality and how warm it is but it looks good. Cost: 1000$+


   



If you want to buy a winter coat of quality I'd recommend to wait until winter ends if you can and buy something of quality, you will get better deals this way. All of the coats I posted go on sale at the beg of spring except Canada Goose.


Other brands you want to look up are; Nobis, Rudsak, Pajar, North Face, Tommy Hilfiger. These are less expensive than the ones I posted, but you can find some gems.


For the boots, anything but Timberland they really suck, I bought mine two years ago and they lasted one winter...

Out of the 4 coats, I prefer the 1st. Others look too common , whilst the 1st coat has stylish details and I would actually wear.

Monclers are a waste of money. People only get them to status signal, imo. They're one of the shittiest winter coats you can buy. You're better off going with Canada Goose if you're gonna spend $500+ on a jacket.

A good, inexpensive jacket that will keep you warm is Marmot.

Yes price point would be a factor in any decision.

I'm sure that marmot coat will keep you warm and a perfect winter coat but aesthetically it is not a stylish coat.

I agree that that particular color isn't aesthetically pleasing, but let's be honest, most coats aren't made to be stylish, and if they are stylish, they're usually expensive (e.g. Moncler).

I'm all for aesthetically pleasing apparel, but there isn't much of a choice when it comes to coats without breaking the break.

Stylish coat == many factors - colors, fit, style, material, details (trends if you follow that).

Yea I don't always go for the high end brands, I mix it up. Keep people guessing.

Just found an amazing website for buying clothes. Everything on there will be second hand / near new but you can find some crazy bargains. Its all designer stuff that people buy and it doesn't fit right or they don't wear it, etc.

Also found a forum called styleforum.net which looks pretty cool. I just had a question about something and then used their search function and found the topic I was looking for with suggestions on their end for what to do. They give a good break down on things like why a certain brand is good, overpriced/underpriced, etc. An example was I just bought some Cole Haans but turns out CHs are really low quality, overpriced garbage so I returned them.

Grailed is great, I've bought/sold lots of stuff on there. Especially if you're looking for more rugged American/Japanese brands the site is great because those don't hold their value compared to designer stuff (Saint Laurent Paris, Acne, etc., though there are still good deals to be found there, as well.) Look for Rogue Territory, 3Sixteen, Iron Heart, Flat Head, Sugar Cane, APC, Nudie, and so on. Great way to get your first quality pair of jeans.

The Carhartt disparity is probably due to different products. The brand sells trendier stuff aimed at streetwear guys (usually under the Work In Progress label), that's expensive. Their regular joe stuff is what you're seeing at Costco.

Watch out for scammers (it still happens) and before you buy, check if you can get the same item on eBay for less. Grailed is imfamous for jacking prices up just because it's "hype."

True, the shirts I have are the standard "Original Fit" work shirts but dang they fit nice. Hard to find shirts that fit tight (but not suffocating) in the shoulders but are still long enough for my 6'2" frame.

To be fair I haven't bought stuff from hyped brands on Grailed, I imagine it's riskier with those kinds of brands more than heritage-styled ones.

Always make an offer, you can always get the price lower than what it's listed for.

^ Funny you should post that, I was just looking at those on Etsy after looking for a leather passport holder to give as a gift.

I really like the last one, it's a good choice for shorter trips.

For longer trips, I prefer bags that can fold and be hanged. They're easier to organize and access.

The good thing about Etsy is that you can easily order a custom dopp kit, so maybe it would be worth researching some designs (if you don't want to go with the single ziper from your post) and asking them to reproduce it in good quality leather for a smaller price.

Yeah, if you can sift through all the products catered to females, Etsy has some great handmade goods. I was also leaning towards the last one minus the "forever and always".

That first link with the buffalo leather is badass. Don't think I've ever seen a toiletry bag like that.

Good idea on customizing. I was going to ask for a bright interior, similar to the red lining in the second photo. Never thought of changing the zip pattern...

That is my dress style when its warmer and Im trying to look good. I think some people will say its not masculine enough although I would disagree. Its more fashion conscious certainly.

Especially the first 3 pictures. I wear nice slacks and short sleeve button downs. The arm holes are small enough that my arms completely fill them and my chest and back are visable. The last few pictures the guy has a dark suit coat and actual coats. Its too hot where I live 10-11 months a year for coats.

Simple but effective.



Great look for 35+ year old guys.

Just two complimentary tone-on-tone combinations, matching leathers on shoe and watch strap, and a great watch.

This combo is very basic, but there's four little details on the outfit that give it a completely different flavor - and show that this guy knows what he's doing:
- The subtle print of the shirt: gives the outfit some depth, looks refined
- The cap toe shoe: more interesting than a plain blucher. Could also have been traded for a wingtip or even double monk
- The pattern on the watch strap, which looks like the one depicted below
- The white face watch: because the outfit is muted and dark, the white really pops out the makes everything come together.

Not sure what watch he's wearing, but it looks like a IWC 5703. Sweet.
