Here's something I find strange.

Hillary's team has known about these Podesta leaks since about a month ago. Potentially longer ago than that.

When they first became aware, you would imagine the team immediately sat around the table. And the obvious questions were asked:

"What's in these leaks that could damage us?"
"How do we prepare for it?"

When it comes to scandal, the usual approach is to fire that person from the campaign. Make a quick statement: "just became aware of it, not consistent with our standards etc etc" and distance yourself.

You would think this occult stuff would cause reputational damage to the campaign. Hillary's team couldn't have known if this batch would come out with 4 days to go, or 24 days to go.

They had the opportunity to cast aside Podesta a month ago, and declined to do it.

Why didn't they?

Either they:
a) didn't even comb through the e-mails and make a risk assessment
b) didn't see a scandal about Podesta being a negative influence on Hillary's polling numbers
c) something else?

You would think they just cast off Podesta for appearances. I wonder why that didn't happen.
