There is a big difference between facilitating romance and paying for it. Plenty of potential players put pennies before pussy.

Uber and drinks for broke college girls is super-standard in a big city. They're wearing next to nothing in stilettos, you're gonna make them walk or take the subway? You need to make it as easy as possible.
Remember building a Yes ladder? Anyone? Bueller?
Wear X. We're meeting at Y. Uber is picking you up at Z. You drink A right? Let's go to B now. I'll show you my pad. You're a bad girl admit it...
Girls that have money will generally uber/taxi themselves there and back.
Like others, I never invite them to my place to start. But if that happened to me I would obviously suggest drinks and very carefully watch her reactions, her eyes. Is she happy now, preening, exposing her body, turning to you? If not see if she warms up on the way other with some smooth talking, if she's still icy then bounce. #TeamNext.
Me: Let's Netflix and Chill
Her: Okay
Her: You don't have netflix.
Me: [Pulls out 20 condoms] I don't have any chill either.

Then again, I'm mostly dealing with well-trodden pussy in that most desirable of all demographics, 28-35. I'd likely have far more luck making a unicorn materialize in my apartment than pulling an attractive 32 y/o directly to my place without at least a few bar drinks. There isn't a "5" in this town aged 27+ thirsty enough for dick to not attempt to leverage more than that out of a meet, and they often get way, way more (from dudes who aren't me.)
God bless you, Vincent. Living the dream...
It's all about how facially attractive you are. If you are a Chad you can get hot girls (7+) to come straight over.

It's played out. If you're still using it, expect this to keep happening.
It had a good run. Just like peacocking had a good run. It's not to say it will NEVER work, but by continuing to use a played out tactic, you will notice a diminishing success rate.
In short, it's not the girl. It's not your game. It's the approach you took for the "date".
I don't agree that it's a chode date. Because it really isn't a date, you're literally meeting up, sitting on a bed or couch then smashing.
It's no dinner and a movie because, totally different vibe, that's comparing apples to oranges.
The right guy can still pull this off, especially if he's got amazing pictures and is a stud.
He might say it jokingly and the girl might jump on it.
But yeah, the average guy isn't pulling this off in a long shot.
I DO agree that it is played out and using has very low and diminishing returns.
The whole premise is about HOW you handle her response when she scoffs.
Rarely do you get a chick who will block you or not responde, most will take it as a joke, then the real game begins on how you respond, then reframe the meet up.

You're completely correct. Allow me to clarify:
Because it's used by a majority of men now, and because the majority of men are chodes, most of the time this opener is used, women assume you are "guilty by association" i.e. a chode.
As a general rule, whenever player tactics start being publicized in mainstream media outlets (Buzzfeed etc) and it becomes a meme, it's been played out and you should stop using it.

The guy you described could be successful with the old Jeffy from RSD opener: "I like salad." What's your point? I don't think WIA is that guy, if he were, this thread wouldn't exist. (No offense to WIA, I'm no ripped stud either)

Sure, I can get behind that. My thoughts are "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." I don't think I have anything incredibly good to add as a reframe, so I'll leave that part of the discussion to the other members here.
