Hello,

Using subliminal mind movies and hypnosis, I'm getting rid of more negative inner stuff. Also, going for noFap I get more energy. With these new and higher levels of energy it's more difficult for me to focus and channel it. I feel "jumpy" and excited most of the time, restless in a way.

I think that meditation could help me.

Has anyone had a similar challenge by growing spiritually/emotionnally and experiencing higher levels of energy?

My goal is to be more calm and relaxed while still having these levels of energy. It also could be that deeper emotional layer such as anxiety are surfacing.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience with me.

I have had some experience with this.

The modern age is full of stimulation that can overload the senses, distract the mind and prevent us from focusing on what is important.

After years of playing computer games, filling my body with caffeine and jumping my attention from object to object (web browsing etc), I had a very hard time staying balanced. I was training both my mind and nervous system to be very reactive to stimulus around me. This made it difficult to find a place of calm and be proactive.

I recently attended a 10 day mindfulness meditation retreat (Vipassana) where we lived like monks practicing meditation for 10 hours a day. My mind was never so calm, quiet and focused in my life. I felt like I had super powers. Essentially you train your mind to calm down so it doesn't keep jumping around or filling your thoughts with irrelevant chatter.

Along with this I was able to get a deep sense of understanding how anxiety, anger and fear are created from the interaction between the environment, mind and body. I found out which mental 'habits' lead to these things and could then start making changes to better tolerate them. The short version is its not the things in the environment that make you suffer, but your reaction to them.

After my experiences at the retreat I strongly suspect that many modern conditions like ADHD are a result of the modern lifestyle conditioning the brain into unhealthy patterns of thinking and reacting to stimulii. Meditation allows you to train the mind in a healthier mental practice that will eventually become a habit.

I strongly recommend mindfulness meditation to anyone how has trouble focusing, is anxious or otherwise not living a calm and balanced life.

That is a very good investment you did. I recommend it to the OP too, or he can use "cheaper" variant and learn Vipassana himself at home (like I did).
I had very interesting experiences while doing Vipassana, although currently I swapped it for another spiritual practice.

I don't buy into most of the spiritual stuff.

Nofap on the other hand seems totally worthwhile. Young men in today's western society learn to overstimulate themselves sexually and it fucks up the way they think about sex and their relationships with women, not to mention wasting a ton of time. Personally I find that I feel happier and am more productive when I have phases where I don't think about sexual urges at all, usually due to work or a personal project I'm engaged in. I don't see any real advantages to jerking off as part of a lifestyle, and from what I read online, a lot of other guys feel more focused and energetic on nofap.

On a more general note about energy....I think that really what it boils down to, for me at least, is that I have a number of things in my life that I have always known to be detrimental or irritating. For some reason I am slow to evict these things from my life, and that is something I'm working on: being assertive with my own circumstances and environment. This includes distancing myself from toxic people. I also am trying to be quicker to act on ideas about what I want to do, get, or experience. For example, I have a cross continental trip I have wanted to do for years, and I've had the opportunity for the past two months, but I haven't taken the shot despite having it lined up.

To be honest I only finished the course a couple of days ago and I haven't meditated since to give myself time to decompress. It was getting to the point that I was avoiding meditating because we did so much of it.

When I get back to it over the next few days I plan to try for an hour in the morning and see how it goes. The course teacher recommended an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, but I think that's too much if you want to make it a sustainable habit.

Ironically the Vipassana International organisation runs the 10 day course for free all over the world. Your attendance is paid for by donations from past attendees. I know you probably know this already, but I'm just putting it out there for people reading this.

I didn't take on board much of the morality/spirituality related to the practice. I was purely interested in mental conditioning and the insight into how the body reacts emotionally to things in your environment. For a 'non-sectarian rational' technique there is a fair bit of spirituality on the course which could be a gateway into Buddhism.

Understandable if you don't feel that way (interested in spiritual aspect), but I must say as a long term researcher and practitioner, you are robbing yourself of most important aspect. This mental conditioning is just a 1/5 of the whole deal, pretty much unimportant to the practitioners in the East. Same like talking about chemicals in psychedelics, instead of discussing what are they opening. But doesn't matter, I am not going to talk about in detail, and I do that when I am really passionate about something.

On topic, OP try some type of practice that could get you into meditative state.

OP, in the same boat as you. I sometimes find my good mood carrying me into momentum overdrive where I go to do one thing and then finish and end up spending 30 minutes on another task before realizing I had no intention of doing so.

Might I offer

-Yoga
-Walk outside in nature
-Binaural beats for creativity, relaxation, or mindfulness. (I've found this to be especially useful)

What the guys offered sounds very beneficial and I know nothing about it so I'll steer clear.

And remember, if your going thru nofap, your brain is rewiring. Your anxiety is temporary as all anxiety is the body saying "this isn't my normal state/something is off"

This isn't for everyone, but I've found that boxing works great for reducing that hyperactivity. Especially after sparring.

Thanks guys, yes. I think it's about balancing the body and the mind. Balancing the inner and the outer. And yes I think that any practice, including hypnosis, psychedelics, subliminal mind movies, meditation, walking, boxing, etc. can have a "cleaning" and calming effect on the soul/mind.

From a cleaner inner state, we feel more calm and more joyous. So yes, to me there is a clear link between spiritual, mental and the body. They influence one another. It's all about being more balanced I think. I also do believe that if we cannot live without the body, without the spiritual we are not living at all. This is where the magic happens. To me, the law of attraction is just about cleaning the link between the mind and the soul.

I was in Amsterdam and planned to use truffles for inner healing. In the end I did not and I healed in other ways. For me, practicing daily being present as often as possible does the trick of cleaning myself. It can be during conversations or waiting in line.

In the end I have to add more physical practice and more mindfulness practices to my life.

If you are a man under 50 years of age you really should be channeling that extra energy into exercise, sports, lifting weights, playing an instrument, horse riding, etc.

Or if you can find them, having a steady lady that you actually care about (NOT depend on, care about) can do wonders as well. A girl who has a personality where that kind, caring aspect of femininity is dominant can bring a lot of peace into your life.

I am now doing meditation every morning. I started at 15 minutes and am increasing 1min each day to get to 30min a day.

I also started again lifting weight 4 times a week for about an hour. I got a trainer who's gonna help me with my form, my training and nutrition plans.

I agree with you, Mercenary, it is a whole. I am in the process of re-designing my life, goals and habits.

Mercenary is right on, when our natural energy is not being dissipated via distractions or traps it can build up surprisingly high and cause all kinds of physical manifestations.

OP, I would suggest that you carefully observe your body & mind and even keep a journal during this period of time. I suggest limiting your meditations to 30 min each period (morning and evening) without a 'goal' of increasing it. Why? Because sitting will gather more of this energy (one term for it is kundalini). There are very reasonable cautions in Eastern and Western traditions about increasing our subtle energy as it can and does spill into our physical body. The Shaolin and other traditions demonstrate this with the incredible feats they can perform, but they train with a MASTER not on their own as sterling_archer is doing (I caution him about this in another thread response). While it may seen cheaper/easier to do it all on one's own, there are people who have traveled this terrain before and can help navigate through it. The 'self-reliant/DIY' Western mind sometimes doesn't want to admit it could use a guide or coach and that's exactly when you most need one.

I am speaking from experience, having spontaneously experiencing an intense kundalini awakening after breaking up with two girls I had been dating, deciding I would not masturbate or have sex until I had a better handle on myself and sexual energy. I was meditating long and often with a purposeful fire of truth-seeking burning inside me. The awakening experience was really a gift and fortunately was more beautiful than shocking but I had been experiencing twitches, vibration, visual distortions and other things leading up to it that had me confused about what was happening to me. Other (especially uninformed Westerners in recent decades) have purposely done 'kundalini yoga' and some were not so lucky as the energy caused them damage. It was unnecessary if the process was approach more slowly and with guidance. I would rather seem a little alarmist than 'it's all good dude do whatever feels right for you.'

If you find a qi gong, t'ai-chi ch'uan or yoga teacher who understands kundalini and is willing to show you movements to help regulate the qi / chi and NOT trying to get you to 'raise it', they could be a good guide. The process has already started within you so adding more and more meditation time could potentially accelerate the energy build-up beyond what your system is ready for. As a teacher once said, it does take 'time' to re-wire for 10,000 volts when we're used to 120V.'

I find in many instances when I feel energy surging within me that really paying attention to my breath, taking it in through the nose long and slow then releasing the same way through relaxed lips while enjoying a light walk, helps to circulate it. There are visualizations you can do to help ground the energy into the earth, or a friendly tree.

Check out 'forest bathing' which is a Japanese term and has become recognized for its benefits and calmness. Also spend time barefoot in seawater if you can - at least walk barefoot on the dirt or concrete for 15 to 20 min a day. Wearing rubberized shoes, sleeping without being in touch with the ground, or walking barefoot on wood or asphault all prevent us from receiving as much of the necessary electrons as our body needs to naturally regulate anti-oxidant processes. Many people have some type of problem with inflammation and this is a primary reason - insufficient free electrons (plus bad diets inadequate intake of essential vitamins/minerals/fatty acids). Being barefoot in salty water is the best way to rapidly gather and store those electrons. I absolutely love time at the ocean and feel cool, relaxed, and healed with every visit. For those skeptical of this, look up 'earthing' or 'grounding' and the movie 'Grounded.' There is solid science behind this and the ancients knew it full well.

It can be good to do this before meditation so your physical body is relaxed and the energy will move more evenly. Yoga is absolutely great for this - in fact, I have read that yoga movements were natural expressions of movement from masters who had been in deep meditation. I have found when meditating that my body seems to at times naturally want to stretch and move; in the 'no mind' space it feels effortless and calming. You can also practice moving meditation, a mindful walk and really, any moment (as you said, like stopped at a light) is a moment to invite mindfulness.

Regarding fap/nofap, I found it very distracting sometimes to be completely without a sexual release. I understand the different schools of thought but while transmutation has its place and is good to practice, I believe mindful self-release is beautiful. There are some women who are trained in tantric massage but not always easy to separate authentic from fakers). Best of all, finding a quality feminine woman (and honestly, not one who calls herself a 'goddess') as Mercenary also suggested, can really help ground your energy and give you a deeper appreciation for the potential of joining the awakened masculine with the feminine. It is a great way to practice truly red-pill practices at every level.

This is also a time to be careful of cultivating relationships that become a drain on your energy and that could happen despite your best intentions. I know this all too well and everyone needs to go through this to have a physical, visceral sense not just an intellectual understanding. I had significant spiritual awakenings occur and while I felt amazing and expanded for periods of time, there were also periods where I had to ask 'what the fuck am I doing right now?!' The practice is always returning to here-and-now and being honest with your inner guidance. When there's more energy within you, your attractiveness to everyone deepens and ever more wisdom is required. Having a small community of men you can relate to can be an important asset - and of course, we are here for you!

The average friend of family member won't likely understand what you're going through but these phenomena are more common than many realize. By exercising your physical body as you're doing, celebrating being a strong and spiritually grounded man, pursuing your goals, enjoying your hobbies, savoring food and rest, and being a very masculine partner in a relationship or several can all be supportive of your growth. Women often wish for more spiritual men and you know what this means. We are meant to bring light and guide our partners, led by clear goals which meditation and focus make clearer.

You have a great gift you are cultivating and it is important to be even more discerning who you bring in to your circle. Sometimes saying 'no' to a tempting opportunity is the best way to open to the 'yes' that will really serve you best.

meditation has helped me immensely with dealing with and transmuting the extra energy as a result of nofap and various other healthy lifestyle choices. though nofap and not wasting essence is the big one as far as vital energy goes. banging is a bit different because it's a two way street energetically and what is spent gets somewhat replenished by the female (yin) energy.

some key points are that it's helpful to have some context to the processes that will occur when you start to open up and increase your energy throughout. there will be lot of resistance (think of it like an electrical circuit) in terms of past conditioning that starts to get 'fruited' as this extra energy flows through you. you get chunks of time where you feel shit or angry for no apparent reason, nofappers refer to this as flatlining but there's a bit more to it than that. the key is to be able to get through these periods without reacting too much, though it can be hard to manage in everyday life.

the main thing i've been working on via meditation is to organize my energy better. most systems don't directly address this and it could take years to get anywhere without building this foundation properly. nowadays many people have way too much energy in their head, aren't breathing smoothly etc, basically an overloaded nervous system. the way to reverse this is to do practices that start to bring your energy down, ground you and balance it through the entire body. the accumulated effect of this is that when you feel a bit shaky, there's less of the reverb effect in your head as you generate ideas about how you feel and more of being to identify the feeling in the body. there's the idea that past negative reactions are all being stored somewhere in the (subtle) body, most people just don't have the level of mindfulness required to observe where the energy is being triggered and get caught up in the afterthoughts, making it much easier to trigger a reaction and renew said conditioning. this is basically how kamma works on a personal level.

if you want to be more peaceful as well as having the higher energy levels, you need to find a way to manage the backlog of conditioning that starts to get cleared as your awareness increases as a result of all this extra energy. there's a certain amount of being skilful but about it's also about choices. ultimately you need to simplify and not be doing too much stuff all the time and also be around coherent environments (nature) in order to properly settle. it's hard to put it into words but if you get to the stage where you're both settled (normally after having cleared a good chunk of backlog) and have a high amount of energy, the experience of reality is mind blowing and get an idea what some of these eastern teachings are about when they point to an 'awakened' experience. it's like time slows down and everything is in HD, it's quite remarkable but all too easily obscured as you get back to normal life. i've only experienced it on the back of retreats and it never lasts long once i'm back in the grind. a large part is also attributable to the level of teaching i've recieved, you encounter someone who is for real in terms of their attainment/lineage and the difference they can have on students in a short space of time is unimaginable.

I agree with most of what you're saying as it gels with my own experiences of meditation. I wish there was a way to more sustainably keep the mental state gained towards the end of retreats, but I was told that we're not meant to crave it, but enjoy it when it happens and while it lasts.

The clearing of 'mental habits', 'scripts', cognitive behaviours, or other mental conditioning with the understanding that your personality is impermanent is one of the great freedoms that I think meditation can bring.

There's a lot of neurological and central nervous system wiring that can be difficult to identify even when being mindful. Directly changing it without being aware of it is almost impossible. Self development without mindfulness as a tool is far less effective.

Getting back to the main point though, I think exercise and meditation are a great way of dealing with the fluctuating energy levels experienced from either Nofap, or other addictions/habit changes. I didn't mean to omit how important exercise is for mental and physical health. Meditation can't do everything.

agree with everything there. one thing i'll add is that mindfulness itself is only a starting point and what we're really looking for is equanimity. you certainly need mindfulness to start peeling away the layers and feeling what's going on under the hood, but this is only useful as far as we can familiarize ourselves with the terrain and not be triggered by it. all this accumulated junk is cleared once we become equanimous to it, simple as that. it could happen immediately if we were able to just 'let go', but much of it is deeply rooted. so, just getting on with life or after a period of time and we generally let go of it in stages, but i think it's useful to be aware of the mechanism by which it's released, whenever we get to a point of total non-reaction to it.

this is where context in terms of teachings delivered the right way or the right type of practice can dramatically speed up the process. my teacher is big on cultivating concentration due to the fact it increases this equaminity aspect of our mind, makes everything more stable and we're able to land our experiences both in the present and as this past stock of conditioning is getting worked through. there is a modern trend of people gravitating toward mindfulness but neglecting concentration, which is much more purifying, but for that reason a much tricker task - no cutting corners when it comes to conduct.

maybe a bit off the deep end, but this purification process is automatic once we start conserving energy. it's easy to get in a muddle and from what i can gather the nofappers only have it partially sussed out.

A great analogy I was given about a mindset to have regarding seeking awakening is that of a flame held under a pot. Too little energy and the meal will not cook. If the flame is strong but dances all over, the meal will not cook. It takes a strong (powerful concentration) and steady (focused) flame to accomplish the task. Of course awakening is not something you can set a recipe for which every tradition makes clear. But the likelihood of spontaneous awakening occurring with a distracted, disordered, unfocused mind is rather low.

The sense of 'no personal ownership' is one attribute of awakened action, which can sometimes seem the opposite of equanimity if one is compelled to engage very strongly in what seems a very personal way. The manner in which I responded to sterling_archer surprised even me, but I have been trusting the movement of my energy through various awakening experiences going back years and have seen myself move in ways that surprised or shocked me but in reflection were appropriate to the situation. We can't predict ahead of time what we will do, say, feel, or certainly think so painting any kind of picture about how we 'should' act is a bit misleading in my experience. As we are all unique, how awakening looks within each of us will be necessarily also unique. But being non-egoically-reactive, being unattached to an given outcome, are indications that true Liberation is being experience. Freedom to do or be and to have others do or be. We still need to engage with other aspects of our One self, but with awakening we see and feel others as extended aspects of Us, like the fingers can move independently but are still One with the palm.

In terms of retaining insights and the sense of Oneness after retreats, I understand that and have experienced that desire too. I took a while of continued examination and also listening to a few teachers to discern that awakening isn't about feeling special, or elevated, or Oneness all the time - it can be very ordinary-seeming. Just a sense of .. naturalness. Like the way an animal would walk across a field and nibble at blades of grass because its stomach says 'time to eat.' Or we pause to look at a sunset because that's the most natural thing in the world to do. Or to be on a date with a woman and a magic descends upon the moment and you lock eyes and you find yourself pulling her toward you for a kiss in the middle of her sentence.

I will write about this more in another post I've been contemplating for a while, about an applied esoteric science called 'human design', but so much of our wisdom resides in our body, in the sounds and movements we make. This instinctive, 'animal' nature has become awakened in me far more than I ever imagined. I grunt my positive responses ('mmm hmmm') much more than speaking words. I've observed actors like Humphrey Bogart who often did that (his role in 'The Big Sleep' especially) and I feel a deeper kinship with the power that represents. Without attempting to affect a certain demeanor, I feel an easy masculinity in that wordless response, or the contemplative 'hmmmmm', and the very clearly negative 'uhh uhh'.

It's very clear that being awake means being free of the machinations of the mind. Not my mind, or your mind, but just mind as a phenomenon. When we don't "know" what we're doing in every given moment, we aren't planning every move out, that's how the 'natural alpha' or 'naturally feminine woman' is. This is also where by relationships take on more powerful dimensions. I will credit David Deida, Allison Armstrong, Michaela Boehm, and Steve James as incredible teachers who have helped ground me in awakened, embodied masculine practice - the last two in particular. To anyone who can attend a Michaela and Steve workshop (they travel around the world) there's tons of wisdom presented that help ground and circulate and (when appropriate) amplify these higher energies. You get to feel your power as a masculine man and explore very cool and also challenging exercises to create a cellular memory and understanding that goes beyond anything the mind can ever touch.

This series of videos titled 'Spirit Sex Love' by David Deida (1 hour total) really brought home how awakened masculinity can look like. Very worth your while to check this out. I've engaged in practices like this and no amount of meditation or reading compares to the visceral feeling. It's truly practicing sexual yoga as he says:

I'll mention that I don't subscribe to the 'goddess worship' stuff which can sometimes go along with environments like this, but the practices themselves are very powerful, useful, and have helped me 'dance' in the currents of the feminine energy which can easily overwhelm the unprepared masculine. I prefer (having been far down that New Agey road*) to bring it back to natural male/female interactions. Before working with principles from David Deida and others, I wasn't as comfortable with the extremes that a woman could go to - especially being a man who loves silences and craves peace. I felt that was disturbing and chaotic to my being. But there is no greater spiritual practice I know now than remaining centered in my being and also engaging with the wild play of feminine energy.

*My attitude is more as one writer said (pretty well-known manosphere guy) 'The god's purpose isn't to worship the goddess. His job is to FUCK the goddess.'

Edit: yes, attuning to the breath is incredibly important! Here is the TEDx talk by Dr. Alan Watkins titled 'Being Brilliant Every Single Day' (worth watching if you aren't already intimately familiar with cardiac coherence) on the subject showing how breathing properly will help us control our physiology and maintain fully access to our pre-frontal cortex, the seat of conscious intelligence/decision-making:


In a past sexual encounter I was able to go far longer than I expected without orgasming by focusing on staying present with my breath and moving energy through my body. She was quite a tigress and on our first date/first time in bed, instead of my prior 'first one fast, second one longer' I took control of my breath, set an intention in that moment to last longer, and made the first one really count. We went at it for what seemed like 30 min or more and it got more and more intense, both dripping and happily spent. I was fully present, totally appreciating and savoring her and able to sustain and deepen our love-making. Was like everything I'd been intending to practice and express had appeared in that one encounter - I was humble and grateful. Ironically, she had told me she had a 'boyfriend' but he was much older and more a provider than a lover. He was wealthy but emotionally disconnected. She had been going on about 'respecting their relationship' but eventually pulled me into her bed. I wasn't expected it and by not acting like I needed her I ironically made her want me more - the exact opposite of the other guy. It was a very topsy-turvy connection as she definitely needed mental help but try and she might to get me to hate her, I couldn't and to this day I'm the only guy who hasn't spit recriminations and venom at her for being 'emotionally disconnected, manipulative, etc.' I absolutely thank the red pill, spiritual practice, and just understanding the darker side of human nature as well as our higher spiritual potential for being able to engage and come away whole and more aware. I know better signs to look for in the future but while I'd had a very difficult connection with a borderline personality disorder (BPD) woman 3 years ago, this woman had many of the same signs and even worse but I felt freer now. A part of me wishes she'd chosen me instead of her rich provider (she made plenty of money on her own) but perhaps she wasn't really ready for that kind of intensity so I know the connection served the right purpose. Even writing this I feel calm while remembering and appreciating the experiences.

An aid I use in cultivating breath-awareness is the emWave2 (either hand-held or Apple/PC based) or Inner Balance sensor (iPhone only) from Institute of Heartmath is a must-have tech hack for practicing this on your own.

Hey guys,

thanks a lot for your input. You kicked some ass with this stuff. You guys have very different mental spaces. Some feed-back: now meditating 30min a day + visualizing 15-20 min (+ theta brainwaves) everyday. It's helping a lot along with the other tools I mentioned.

I have read everything apart from the last long post by Truth Tiger, I'll check it out later, I'm curious.

I'll go back to some points.

- Organizing energy: I think this is key. I agree it's not only about raising energy. It will happen when we remove the junk yes. And the next part is re-organizing it. My life has been missing balance and I'm correcting this now: physical exercise, family time, friends time, nature time.

- Kundalini: I'm interested. I practiced some kundalini meditations in the past and did once kundalini yoga, but that's it.

- Nature: Yes, my new habit is to go once a week in nature. That is what has been missing in my life a lot.

- Qi Gong: I've always been interested into this. Maybe I'll find a way to practice this.

- Fap/NoFap: Right now, I'm still in the process of recovering from porn/erotic hypnosis addiction. So I'm like 80% there. I'm rewiring my sex drive and habits. So it's in progress. What I can say is that now I use masturbation for manifesting stuff. I'm experimenting with it, no real feed-back on it yet. I'll visualize while masturbating and use the sexual energy to raise the energy and send it "in the cosmos" when orgasming.

I also had a new "ability": when I inspire air deeply by the nose I can now feel the energy moving to my head. I can do this at will. I feel like I unblocked something, hence mentioning the practices I'm doing.

Basically, I'm at a stage where I'm:

- Calming my mind, centering myself with meditation
- Rebalancing activities
- Using self-development tools, both conscious and subconscious to remove junk and install new beliefs, visions and skills

Otherwise I agree: too much in our head, not enough grounded.

So, not much else to share today. I think that mastering energy is very important. I'm happy you guys are on this same path.
