What are the requirements to get a business visa for ukraine? I can't find concrete information, i tried asking lawyers in ukraine, they just say "yes, send me £100" without answering my questions.

how long can you stay in ukraine?
What capital do you need to fulfill the entry requirements?

First, check the Ukrainian Embassy website for your country. However, you probably can't get any information because more than likely, there are no more "Business Visas" for Ukraine. I'm not sure about for those citizens from countries outside the "90 day tourist Visa free" list, but for those within, there hasn't been "Business Visas" for at least 5-6 years. This is coming from someone who had to regularly get one in the past, along with the old registration process.

If you're from a western country, US, EU or whatever is considered a "First World Country" these days, then the 90 day tourist stay is considered good enough. For stays longer than that, you're going to have to contact a lawyer, potential "Business Partner", employer or make some other arrangements. There's a website expat.ua and they usually have a few places adverstising their services or you could delve deeper into their forum for more information.

Tried last month. Was basically told to invest $100k in the Ukrainian economy to get any sort of extended visa.

Not a place I'd like to put my money, personally.

I wouldn't mind if i was able to transfer it to a bank, then transfer it out asap

Except I think that you would need a very good, officially approved and stamped, reason to make the bank wire the money outside of Ukraine (which they will resist, hard).

Except I think that you would need a very good, officially approved and stamped, reason to make the bank wire the money outside of Ukraine (which they will resist, hard).

Somewhat related, I was thinking about trying a carry trade strategy with the 25% interest rates being offered at Ukraine banks.

The risk of not being able to get the money out of the country when I wanted, along with transaction/conversion costs, exchange rate fluctuations, etc., made it not worth it.

Anyone done it successfully?

Biggest risk being, the bank closing shop on you. It's been known to happen over there...

This, which is why i said asap, no protection over there. In the UK we are protected for up to £75k, i doubt in ukraine they have that, as well as banks just making your money disappear, from what some russians have told me.

No locals there actually keep their money in the bank. Just enough for some day to day expenses. They seriously keep cash stocked away in a safe.

For, as you said, the reasons listed above. Banks just close randomly and that's the end of it.

There is no such business visa, but it's possible to incorporate a company and employ yourself as the director, which is grounds for issuing of a work visa.

I'm not sure of the cost, but I know a few English language tutors who operate that way, so it can't be too expensive.

There is no visa allowing you to stay longer then 90 days in a 180 day period. You would need to apply for temporary residency which can be obtained in three ways.

1. Open a company which would then employ you and obtaining a work permit. The work permit then allows you to apply for temporary residency which is renewable every year.

2. Invest $100.00.00 in Ukraine

3. Marry a Ukraine national.

It is straightforward.

Open a company, Apply for and receive your work permit then apply for and receive the temporary residency. Before applying for the temporary residency you would have to go to a Ukrainian embassy or consulate to get a D Visa.

You can transfer funds into the business. The whole process takes between 8 to 10 weeks but you would need to be here in person for some of the processes.
