LOL!!

Ya I don't think you were out of line at all. You were just sharing your experiences with Paisas. fair enough.

I was just bringing to light that if you know where to look and have the right style, then Medellin is full of young, sexy, regular girls waiting to be swept off their feet from the exotic gringo in town. I have never really dated bartenders or waitresses. I had much more luck with day/night game and Tinder. A lot of the girls I dated had never even been with a gringo before.

A lot of this will depend on your age and specifics of course. Im a younger guy and in shape. Gilly mentioned he is the same. I had a good bank roll to put myself in a great apartment and buy and wear nice clothes and Gilly is also in that position.

I guess the point was that I have had some great mini relationships with quality girls in medellin many times so I had to chime in and tell you guys that they are definitely there and are very receptive.

RE: The Colombia Master Thread
I think the mongers in Medellin have screwed it up for the rest of us that just wanna go meet regular girls and hang out. It can actually be a detriment in Medellin to be a gringo now.

I met this one nice chica working at the ice cream shop in the mall. We hit it off great; she seemed smitten. And a few days later I thought I'd go ask her out after she got off work. She then acted like she didn't want to talk to me. And although I'd heard of this sort of thing, I didn't immediately pick up what was going on. I asked her, don't you remember me? She said, "Yes, your name is *******. I remember you." But she was nervous and fidgity as hell and just wanted me to leave.

Then I remembered what all I had been told about gringos vs Paisas. I looked around and there were two guys staring at us from across the mall. All I can figure is that they were her brothers or old classmates or someone she was embarrassed that I, a gringo, was talking to her. So, I got my ice cream and left. I guess I should have gone back another day but fuck it. I should have gotten her number the first damn time instead of playing aloof.

But the Paisa girls can have a complex about being seen as pregagas (semi-prostitutes) when they hang out with whitey. On one hand, the Colombianas love status, and dating a gringo means status in many parts of Colombia. They're very proud to show you to all their friends. They will go out of their way to drag you all over town and present you to everyone they know. But not as much in Medellin. Too many mongers that have fucked it for the rest of us.

Thanks guys, as I've already been to Medellin I'll report back while in bogota with results and my comparison. I'm actually not in the greatest shape, but I speak good Spanish, and have time and Money flexibility on my side. I seem to bat way out of my league consistently in South America so I guess we'll see what happens.

Why did Brewdog get banned? Isn't there a thread somewhere that lists the reason why more established members got banned

Edit- Nevermind, I guess it was cause of the posts in the libertarian thread, did anyone care about that thread anyway.

On topic though, CBC (Basically Canadian BBC for you Americans) has been hyping up Colombia in the news lately because of the FARC deal, it will probably increase tourism.

(09-23-2016 04:44 PM)scotian Wrote:  The main reason to study Spanish in a place like Guatamala or Ecuador isn't because of the cheap price, it's because the women in those countries are so damn ugly that you'll actually get some studying done, unlike in Colombia!

I'm guessing Scotian meant this as somewhat of a joke but he's also dead on. I went to Guatemala about 5 years ago and did several months of 1-on-1 Spanish lessons, 4 hours a day, 5 days a week in Quetzaltenango. It was something like $3-4 an hour at the time, and maybe around $5 now. Although I had a bit of Spanish before going, I emerged being solidly conversational, even employable in a Spanish-only environment.

It's true Guatemalan women are so ugly that you may quickly judge it to not even really be worth the effort. The same goes for Ecuador. Instead, you'll concentrate on getting to bed at a good hour, getting to your lesson on time, and studying when you're not doing 1-on-1 with your tutor. This also leaves ample time for hitting the gym in the afternoon. This will pay dividends when you want to head to a better country like Colombia.

With that said, there is some cool nature stuff to do in GT. I'm back down here in the capital working a contract and it's not so bad even if you factor in how disappointing the local women are and how costs have risen to above-US levels in the more affluent zones of Guatemala City. If you get out of the capital, however, things are still cheap and there is relatively little English spoken.

I went down to Colombia for this last summer with a buddy. Before going, he talked a big game about how he was going to be studying Spanish every morning and that, when he was ready to leave, he was going to be conversational. Flash forward 6 weeks later to the end of the trip and dudeman hadn't even set up any tutoring. The one girl he interviewed ended up banging him 3 hours after meeting him. Between working out in the morning, diving into the bag of Pacino around lunchtime, and then meeting up with girls in the afternoon, there was no time to really study.

So, if you're going to study Spanish, it's a good idea to do it in a country with ugly women. Also, don't hire a woman as a tutor. You'll either end up banging her or having to put up with her constant attempts to try and seduce you. My employer-sponsored tutor tried doing this all last year, but I don't mess around with late 30s single mothers who know the people who cut my checks.

Bottom line: Get a male tutor and let him teach you how to speak like a man. Women want to teach you all kinds of cutesy words. Also, studying in Guatemala will force you to learn voseo. This will be beneficial when you get into backwater regions of Latin America and Argentina.

Why was he banned? Besides his preposterous and completely off base New Jersey posts, I thought he was a good poster. He apparently spent time in Fort Dix, which is either close to a military base or the military base itself, and Atlantic City, which is by far the poorest, ugliest, and most dangerous Jersey Shore town, and decided to piss all over an entire state based on spending time in two really undesirable places. Tons of farmland all over the state, tons of historical places, tons of small towns with a lot of character, over a hundred miles of really nice beaches, and some really expensive suburbs of two major U.S. cities. If you haven't been throughout the state and seen all the kinds of places that I just mentioned, you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

RE: The Colombia Master Thread
Hopefully the forum can just get back to travel and the game when the election is over.

Anyways, I thought the best way to learn to Spanish was practice it on dates with hot girls.

Having hot girls around will be make want to SPEAK it with them.

Most latinas are pretty shy about speaking English at first so once you get a grasp of the language, it's easy to.keep building on that

I recommend going through duolingo for a bit before heading off, then another thread recommended to me to cut off any english for month while I was there. This helped me learn fairly quickly.

I do agree though that Guatemala and Ecuador will help you study, but you only need that if your a true beginner (basically you only know hola and como estas?)

Also start drinking at bit on dates, I'm not sure why but 2 or 3 drinks always improved my Spanish, I think it removes the mental block having to translate your words from english to Spanish

My best Spanish was always on drinking dates, too. The combination of removing the mental block and hormonal focus offers a big boost.

You may have a hard time finding a pool hall like back home, Colombians play a different version with red and yellow balls with no pockets to sink the balls but some places do have normal tables.

Yeah I've seen that game in Medellin doesn't look very fun IMO. Do you remember any places then with decent regular tables?

Yeah, elections in Colombia are dry (Saturday till Sunday) the alcohol sections are closed off in the grocery stores and no booze is sold that weekend. It's called ley seca.
In bogota, there is still plenty to do such as hit the casino, cinema, restaurants or just chill with some people wherever.

As for the tables, I didn't like that style originally as I was used to the big open spaces where you can mingle and have those booths here in Toronto. Now I prefer that style because you end up sharing shots of aguardiente with the tables next to yours. It's just a different form of mingling.

I just came back from Cartagena. This hurricane almost ruined everything. I was only for 3 full day. Tons oof flakes and I was about to give up. But I sent messages to all Tinder contacts. Finally one girl wanted to go out. But when exchanging info, her battery dried out. At 11 pm she was online. Asked her to come to my apartment and decide there.
She came and looked fucking hot. But I lost the fucking keys. Seriously, I tought what a bad luck. I spent 30 minutes, and finally found them in the elevator and at that point it was raining so hard there were no taxis. If you were in cartagena yesterday you know what I mean.
The good thing is that she had to stay in the apparment, I cooked some dinner and finally the flag. She slept there. We have a saying in Spanish " no hay mal que por bien no venga", which means all bad things come with something good at the end.... Stupid hurricane did something good for me.

So you are a native spanish speaker? It is great to read about your experience. I'm on the other side of the spectrum you mentioned on your other post. I did well with daygame but online didn't seem to work well for me in Bogota at least, I had the theory that it was because I don't have very exotic features compared to the locals to shine on Tinder, though I met an average looking local dude who does very well there (but he has a lot of money to show off on his pictures). I'm curious about how is your match rate on tinder?

Yes, I am native speaker. Well, I look average, and I am 1.68 mixed Spanish - Latin.

Just for the record, I tried Badoo and it really was bad for me in Colombia, probably got 5 matches in couple of weeks, but in Tinder I had 110 matches without chat and only selecting the ones I liked. Still I never had this amount of flakes. yes, I know, that's the problem with this approach. Now, same profile in Poland.... bad. Same profile in Ukraine, very good... It seems they kind of like my looks there.

I wish I could meet in the future just like you said, people on the other side of the spectrum, learn more and practice day game. So many experiences to share and things still to learn...

When I go back to Colombia I don't think I'll use online dating. It's a waste of time because it's way too easy to day game as a decent looking white guy. I pass up opening and inviting hot girls out that I see in the street because I have online dates lined up that like 50% flake anyway. Get off your phone, learn some espanol, and flirt with some colombinas.

RE: The Colombia Master Thread
Hello - I am new to Colombia - I am in Bogota for all of October. Can anyone offer a comparison between Zona T and the Parque 93 area for day game, online dates, and clubs. The place I am looking at Parque 93 is near the Hilton.

I am liking it at Zona T a lot, but I have to find a new place next month.

For my first week, Andino Mall has been a nice spot to meet up for dates from online. And, if they show up late or flake, I can day game. There are plenty of girls walking around there. Also, I can walk them from the mall to my apartment it's pretty close.

Any tips on day gaming here? Direct or indirect works better?

So far, it's been a nice trip!

I have stayed in both Zona T and Parque 93. Both really good areas but I prefer Zona T. 93 is an older crowd. Bars are more laid back and I don't know of any clubs. One club I tried to go into they tried charging me a 30mil cover and when i peeked in the door it was empty and the guy tried to shut the door before I saw. If you like the convenience of lots of options then Zona T wins. The restaurants and other things in the 93 are close much earlier.

I don't know how good looking you are, but I personally would go direct. Say hello, make some general chattert, tell them you think they are pretty and would like to go out, etc.

Exactly what he said.

Colombian girls like direct and compliments. They are the exact opposite of girls in the USA who think you're a loser if you compliment them forcing you to dish out back handed compliments. While being direct do not turn the conversation sexual. These girls could be planning on banging you on the first date but if you talk about anything remotely close over text they will either get offended or ghost you. Again pretty much the opposite of girls in the US.
