Its not just the tin foil hat - yesterday morning between 11 a.m. and 12.30 - there were police helicopters tracking the Long Island Railroad tracks from Queens County straight out to Long Island. My son has soccer games Saturday morning and I am a helicopter aviation buff. Without known anything about pipe bombs or any problem, I commented to myself that it was unusual, to the point that I never saw it before, that a police helicopter flying fairly low, tracked the LIRR train tracks from where we were playing soccer at about the Queens/Nassau line and then 45 minutes later came back along the tracks and into NYC when I was driving home. You can tell its a LEO chopper by the pitch and noise of the engine and the rotors and you can tell iit was actually doing something because there is some type of FLIR or radar device on the front which lights strong strobe lights which blink off the front of the chopper. Those are only turned on if the chopper is actively doing something. Years ago there was a law enforcement shooting by the Courts in Westchester County NY and I saw three helicopters with these strobes turned on. What flew over Long Island was blinking the same thing. Also, for the past 2 weeks - there has been massive police presence in Long Island Railroad main terminals, in the City Hall and downtown Manhattan Court areas and such and that Homeland Security had a dozen officers with dogs and fully armed at the Staten Island ferry terminal last Monday. I've never seen so much security and again, remarked to myself that something was going on.

The German news outlets did not report the stabbing, NJ and the other incident until the Berlin local vote booths were closed at 6 pm UTC+1. The stabbing was reported 10 minutes before 6 pm. It happend at the same time as the New York bombing, didn't it?
They did report the "explosions" of New York in the afternoon though. AfD currently is at 11-12%, and Berlin will get a left wing coalition.

Speculative, but for those who know the city, note that that the block where the Arab looking guy was spotted walking south (32nd Street and 7th Ave) is about 1 block away from Penn Station.

Earlier that morning, there was a pipe bomb placed in a trash can that exploded in Seaside Park, NJ (luckily no one was hurt). It strains credulity to believe that these two incidents are not related (yes, the bombs were of a different type but so what? Is there a law that prevents a self-styled bomber from making and trying out different types of devices?)

If it's the same guy, it would make sense that he traveled from New Jersey to NYC, disembarked at Penn Station, and then walked south for a few blocks to place the other two devices, one of them also in a dumpster. I assume NYPD cops would be able to reach the same obvious conclusions.

I see a number of possibilities from these two bombings:

1. Bomber is an amateur Muslim terrorist
2. Bombs were a test to evaluate the police response
3. The bombings were political in nature. They were placed in such a way to cause fear but not death. This could lead to two options:
3a. Placed by someone from the Left with the intent to blame Right Wing Extremists
3b. Placed by someone on the right to blame Muslims, cause fear and bring votes to the RNC.

When the officer pulled out his gun, the suspect struck him with a machete, Hughson said Sunday.

The suspect was then shot by the officer. He was taken to hospital and underwent emergency surgery. He remained in hospital Sunday in serious but stable condition.

The officer was taken to hospital with what Hughson called “significant and severe” injuries.

Hughson said ASIRT has good surveillance video of the events that unfolded inside the Sears store.

“Some witnesses have referenced a machete earlier,” she said. “When he’s in the store, however, you can see him pull a machete from a sheath. That’s part of the unfolding events in the Sears store. It wasn’t visible, obviously visible, when he entered the store.

No name or description of machete-wielding attacker given. I wonder why.
