How do others get their VISA for russia? We're heading to Moscow, for 2 weeks of game. We're not doing the short stay ferry-visa thing from Finland to St Petersberg

I researched and it seems I need an official hotel, who can give me the 'Tourist voucher' and a 'Tourist confirmation' document stamped and signed by authorized person.

I had hoped to go via Airbnb, but they declined to do that (I presume they don't want to register as an official hotel!)

Book a chain hotel like Hilton in Moscow. Use the confirmation to get your voucher from a visa service. That should be $30-50. Then you can apply for the visa, which is another $180 or so. Then cancel the hotel. Don't get the voucher from the hotel.

Good idea. Has anyone done this in practice?
Visa is only £36 from UK Russian Embassy
