I have no opinion on French food though, haven't had enough of it to say. But I don't really get how European food is inherently superior to Asian food, I mean most people literally prefer Asian food to European food...

In regards to Spanish cuisine, their cuisine is more influential than it is famous or well loved(as many Latin American countries adapted their cuisines based on Spain's). Paella is probably the most famous Spanish dish and there are many populations in the world that have no idea what that is. European culture really is not as relevant anymore as some Europeans seem to think, in many ways Euro's are trapped in bubbles the same way as Americans and Chinese are.

Have you been to eastern europe? Do you think the racism is different? I would imagine there is more racial violence over there but the girls still dig black/latinos.

On the other hand in spain there seem to be no violence but more discrimination on a societal level.

Yep, pretty much. Eastern Europe is a whole different world altogether. There is more violence but it is also much more dynamic and intelligent than Spain. Spain discriminates much more on a passive/institutional level.

I'm actually probably the only guy here about Spain who has actually HIRED people and dealt with people in business settings within Spain. Ironic isn't it? Most Spaniards born and raised have done less for the country than mean old me, who was born in the USA. And then, they hate any criticism.

I get along with people, in Spain and many other countries. But Spanish people just can't take criticism of any kind. So the whole country is screwed up, but all that many people think about is lecturing Americans on how supposedly how "bad" we eat...ignoring obesity in children within Spain. Exactly. They don't just cross the Sahara desert jumping for joy to meet Spaniards or French. They do it because they have no other choice...they are a consequence of European protectionism. Europe still hasn't learned to deal with immigration OR the economy. It's a basket case of a continent in many respects. However, most Africans living in Spain are just here temporarily. Their dream is to go to France, Germany or the UK. They're not stupid. They know Spain has nothing to offer them.

Absolutely not. They do have other choices. They can stay in their countries and fight for a good life in their own countries, countries that totally need the workforce and energy of young men, by the way.

Africa suffers mainly because the elite of the continent: the young, strong and dynamic men, are emigrating to Europe instead of working for the enrichment and improvement of their own countries.

See a (beautiful) country like Ivory Coast or even Ghana. A young local man totally can make a good life for himself there. But no!, most will instead just go to Barcelona: fools!

Are you asking why they should exercise their right to free speech (a civil right many of them likely wanted when they migrated) and to criticize, given your French background you should already know the answer to that.

It seems like your opinion is largely jaded by migrants who came illegally and are not working, when there are plenty who came legally and do work (or plenty who came illegally and work) - and feel like they are sill discriminated against. Do you think if an immigrant who is working has the right to criticize if they feel they are discriminated against?

Furthermore, there are plenty of Europeans who sit on their ass all day, especially the Spanish - so let's not act like natives are the bastions of work ethic in every nation.


I do not think it is foolish to move to a country that is significantly safer to raise your family, as well as provide them education that is respected world wide and take in a much stronger currency. Well personally i'm not going to pay to go back there. Not because of racism but just because i didn't enjoy it enough to spend money on going there.

Do you really think that people just "think" many spaniards are racist, or are they really? I don't see what's wrong with trying to discuss a topic objectively.

Tourists go to spain because of cheap prices and better weather than many northern places, simple as that. Immigrants go there because of economic situation. Tourists and immigrants going there don't really change some of the observations made in this thread, do they?

Btw, there was a documentary about french people emigrating to some country in africa, and spaniards emigrating to peru because there were better job opportunities.

Edit: These south americans went to spain because it would be easier to adapt in a spanish speaking country compared to say, Netherlands or Germany.

"Why don't young men go change their countries" - then you reference the Ivory Coast, a place that has had two civil wars with in the past 10 years? People are fighting in these countries, that is why many of them leave, because of civil war. Not everyone cares to be caught up in a war, Europeans are not any different. If a French civil war broke out, a lot of French families would go to safer countries, and would hope to have welcoming hospitality to some degree(and even if they weren't welcomed, they would still go because their safety takes priority), this isn't a foreign concept.

America has taken in Europeans for decades now for similar reasons. Europeans were discriminated against in America, they spoke up, things changed, and America was for the better.

Only the people residing legally to any given country have a "right to free speech". People who are illegal and therefore breaking the laws, should have only one right: to shut their mouths and lay low. Or, even better if they don't feel happy where they are: going back to their (absolutely not war-torn, contrarily to what MSM says) countries.
