Especially in terms of interacting with women. I think I was more saddened than anything to see that 99.9% of the outside drug dealers all over berlin were African guys.

There was a time in my life when I rejected clubs with a tighter dress code and was subsequently rejected by those clubs. They were right to do so, I simply wasn't ready. It had nothing to do with race and it wasn't personal, they established a dress code and I could choose to comply or not. My issue is when a brotha or anyone comes correct and the door is still on some BS. I have experienced that as well and know the difference.

As far as I remember about this story the racism was targeted at dark skin black women. The guys apparently dont see dark skinned women as pretty and don't want them in the club.. Only the light skinned or mixed women.

In a past life I worked as a promoter in NYC as well and can somewhat vouch for that. The doormen don't want too many black people or fat women in the clubs. Its just how it is.

Colorism will always be present outside and inside the Black community. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. That said, I've seen and experienced club discrimination first hand. "No chains & medallions" along with brand bans were prevalent in my clubbing days. I just stop patronizing establishments like that. When/If I go out nowadays, I'm wearing a blazer, oxford shirt, jeans and loafers. It's just how I dress now. However, I don't do clubs anymore. It's mostly alcohol and drug fueled game anyway. I'm a little curious of what the nightclubs you go to look like. I've been to some nicer clubs before but they still had some "hood" in them. I've always figured club like the ones in big cities such as Vegas were more about how much money you can spend or your status. I would never get something like bottle service or a vip table.

Baseball jersey's are my thing right now so I'm always rocking one when I'm out and with some nice sneakers. I'm 25 though so I want to be around the young ratchet crowd. Whenever I go to club I want to see girls twerking it in every way possible. I've been to some clubs that were made up of majority white people and I can't vibe to the music. I've also been turned down at the door because my pants were too low on my waist or something stupid like that. If I can't vibe to the music then I can't really get going and enjoy myself. So, basically, if a club isn't playing Juvenile's Back That Ass Up, I'm not really interested in going anyway.

Well everyone goes to clubs for different reasons.

A big part of going clubbing for me is the social aspect of it and "ratchet girls" young or old are not girls im interested in getting to know. Only leads to drama and trouble. If I want to see girls "twerking it" in every which was possible ill go to a strip club. I understand what you are saying about the music but there are clubs that aren't only about bottle service and whatnot. Depends on where you go. Gotta find a nice balance.

Strip clubs aren't my thing. I consider those a huge waste of money. We have a lot of clubs here with a $5 to $10 cover charge which isn't much at all. Usually me and my boys pregame before we go out so we don't have to waste money on drinks at the club. I don't like girls that are ratchet but when I'm out clubbing that's the environment I want to be in. There is usually someone in there that catches my eye but I'm not trying to LTR anyone from a club anyway...just pump and dump, so I don't take it so serious. What do you mean "arbitrary" rules? They have these rules to keep the "hood niggas" from coming in and fucking the club up for everyone. I didn't find the typical velvet rope party in Manhattan to be that fun compared to the underground spots in BK. They were packed with pretty people, sure. But not fun. Everyone watching everyone else, all too afraid to cut loose and be seen seen as a loser. Bottle service places especially.

Therein lies the problem. The term correctly is entirely subjective. When you deem widely universal cultural attributes as incorrect then brothers tend to feel it's because we're black. Allowing patrons to wear Timberland's is hardly an invitation for "hood-niggas" and a precursor to getting your posh Yelp five-star club shot up.

It's like black dudes mad that some random white porn star doesn't do interracial, when 99% of the rest do.

Every time I run into "disparity" I ask myself

Who are they to be equal to?
What do they really have that I truly want?

big picture wise, shit is rough, but on the small scale, I know how to work my magic.

That's what this post is about, not bitching about the scene, it's devising ways around.

I don't know, guys. Are we really surprised that high-end clubs don't want ratchets there? I'm not and I'm cool with it. I have ratchet neighbors in USA and I get on fine with them but I know how to handle those types. Some lily white club owned by some jew would have an awful time with that.

Honestly, the clubs in NJ/NYC would block you at the door for trying to get in with a tight v-neck, jeans and shoes ALA Jersey Shore style. I don't see it as all that weird. They're screening for people with money and certain dress styles don't always scream "i got a black card."

Also, lots of ratchets aren't hitting up high-end clubs anyway. I might fit a weird niche, but I'm rarely blocked from clubs at the door. Unfortunately, I'm not very intimidating by black man standards (as seen by white people): I'm light-skinned, short 5'8 and weigh 155 and tend to dress OK . V-neck, jeans and shoes and rarely have problems. I do make it a habit of talking to the door men as I'm walking up into a spot so that preempts a lot of bullshit. It's a perk of being a chatty cathy, but it's whatever.

Also, Jayesco, sorry to say this but are you really surprised that spots are blocking you for walking in with Jerseys on? That style is seen as very dated in America (And Europe I would imagine) so I can't say I'm surprised. TO be totally honest, I'm 27 I really haven't seen dudes rocking Jerseys since I was 16 years old.

But hey, if you're looking for ratchets then your signalling is on point.

That isn't meant as an attack on you, but I think if you're getting blocked at clubs for Jerseys I really can't be sympathetic there.

I was back in America for 2 weeks last month and I didn't see a single dude wearing a Jersey and I live in Newark, so that is definitely the place to see dudes rocking Jerseys.

Oh, I forgot to add that bringing well-dressed women can make up for your lack of dress in spots like these. The doormen aren't going to fuck with you if you bring 2 girls and another guy all looking decent, especially if the girls are cute.

Unfortunately many black men have chosen to emulate the style that many lower class or hood cats also wear so when you pull up to the club looking like that the doorman judges you right away. Hell people judge you right away.

These guys don't have time to get to know you and maybe see oh actually this is just an educated brother in those clothes. The doorman is gonna make a call in 2 seconds if you get in or not.

This is one of the reasons I've recently started classic fashion and suit blogging on Instagram to hopefully give other brothers some inspiration to stop dressing like that.
