Quote:German police have arrested the 16 year old Afghani boy as they suspect he knew Ali David Sonboly was planning the fatal attack and did not report it.

Munich Police said the arrested youth may have played a role in taking over a girl's Facebook page and inviting youngsters to McDonald's - where the shooting happened - for free food.

Yeah, what is the point of having all of that if the response time is atrocious? Sounds like a bigger waste of money.

I don't know why do you guys question this. Police got calls from multiple shooters with rifles. Würzburg terror attack just a few days ago, the Nice attack as well.
Its a pity that police couldn't stop him faster but cry for waste of money seems strange to me. Police was there quite fast as well. But how much reaction time you guys consider good when a guy just pull out a gun an shoot at people?
I prefer that the police is able to show up with such big manpower to act in the worst case instead of not reaction at all or just send two guys in a police car.

My point isn't that the police did a bad job. My point is this is not what police are for, and if as a society we expect police to protect us, we are fucking fools.

It's a point I will keep making because it seems virtually everyone expects the police to do just that, and assumes that's why they exist. Yet all it takes to completely fuck with an entire city is one asshole with a gun.

Even ignoring the death toll, how much damage did that attack do to the economy in lost trade? How much will the medical bills be? How much crime will go unsolved because of the wasted man-hours? Who else died because they were in an accident and the local emergency services were overwhelmed? Who died because they were having a heart attack and there was no ambulance available? All this, from one guy with a pistol.

People need to wake up. Police are not there to protect us, and cannot effectively do so. All westerners need to start taking responsibility for their own safety, however they can.

We are very lucky all we're seeing so far is amateur hour bullshit. I don't like to talk about this stuff in detail online for various reasons, but I assure you if a team of professionals ever shows up to fuck with a city, expect to see thousands dead and absolute chaos, no suicide attacks required.

Edit - typo

Its stupid in general to not take responsibility for your own protection. Work out, watch out, don't be naive and prepare. But the mentality in the US is different then in Germany. We are a low crime country and violence is not very common. No corruption, no police scandals. When you grow up in a peaceful society where everything just work, you expect this because you did never experience anything different. The same counts for Japan.
When now a society with high trust in the state face what we face now, that the state can't protect us people don't know how to react. We have to adapt and take back responsibility of our lives in our own hands.

I know you are half-joking, but I don't care what anyone says. When it comes down to it, I don't think that women have the temperament to wield (sub)machine guns in real stress CQB situations. This fictional scene is from a movie, but it also makes a true statement about the higher possibility of women getting wound up to the point that they make a stupid trigger decision or become startled and fire like this one does. I can emotionally wind most women up just by talking to them in a semi-normal way. Most men I can not:

About 8 % foreigners and 20 % of Germans have a migration background. We face already burglary crime from eastern european gangs. Arab gangs that control complete districts, failed integration of Turks and many other stuff. Its strange how this all was in discussion out there for recent years but is gone away and everyone pretend now we never had any issues with immigration and thats why we should take more.

When I go from my small town to a big city, I feel like a minority and soon I will be one. Thats what they report. Germans will be minorities in the big cities and soon minority in the younger age group.

Parzival - how can you still claim that Germany is a low crime country after the recent crime statistics? Quite frankly these days I would feel safer walking through most U.S. inner cities than to set foot into any of the major cockroach infested German cities, in particular Berlin and most of NRW.

You need to start embracing the fact that the Germany you grew up in does not exist anymore. Give ten more years and you won't be able to recognize your own country.

In college I was good friends with one of the security guards there. One day we were talkng about handling trouble and he brought up that female cops have to resort to force sooner than male cops. The reason being that male cops can control a situation merely by establishing a presence. Women, being smaller and weaker than men, can't do that because the perps don't take them seriously. Ergo, the female cop has to escalate the threat of violence in order to force compliance.

Which causes a lot of situations like the video below:

I don't talk about the now. I talk about the past that did shape this mentality. And this reality change. Also only the very poor Germans are left in those areas full with lowlife Muslims. Everyone else moved away. Also many Germans live in small towns with low crime and low migrants.
Whats interesting, cities like Nürnberg, Augsburg, Munich, Stuttgart have a higher Migrant rate then Berlin but still more safe. Also even in Berlin or some areas of NRW and other Arab clan hotspots, you still can walk there. Crime don't spread equal over Germany. For this its very sad that Bavaria, the most safe state in Germany now face those attacks in a row. Don't forget the terror warning at the main railway station in Munich at new years eve, or the Islamic Terror attack in Garching that got play down quite a lot. Now the Würzburg attack and the Munich rampage.
The massive assaults and attacks we face now are very new. For this they are to new to change a mentality of trust in the state that did grow since the occupation of Germany and even before. Germans did always trust in the authorities. Its hard to compare this to an Anglo mentality where everyone has to take care of his own.

Honestly dude, it seems to be a flaw in whatever Nordic DNA makes up Germans and Swedes to be so trusting of the government, if the Germans still believed Government is to be trusted after Hitler then really they learned absolutely nothing from WW2.

From the time of the Prussian empire, Germans have always loved to obey authority.
Apart from a few isolated incidents, the people there really dont have serious history of resistance or uprising against their rulers.

Even the night the berlin wall came down it was because a GDR communist government official named Gunter Schabowski had said on state television he had an official paper saying the border would be opened....otherwise they would have never stormed the gates. Really.

And in parliament, even controversial laws get passed with large majorities from all parties.
Referendums are unheard of.

Obedience to laws and authority is like a sexual fetish in Germany.

Lets see if this will finally change.
Im not keeping my hopes up.

Women who are not well trained to shoot in dynamic environments often take that sort of stance because of their boobs. Pretty common to see girls stand kind of leaning back like that when shooting pistols. It's fine if they're just slow firing.

The chicken wing stance isn't uncommon either, some places train it that way. Very much an 80s technique, but we still see lots of cops using the tactical teacup grip too, so...

I'm just an weekend shooter and an armchair critic, but it took three rounds of paintball and one hell of a bruise on my right forearm before I learned to present a smaller target. Dodgy

I know. And I don't understand it. Beside me I don't know much people that ever question the authorities hard. You only can help an addict when he realize he has a problem. As long as Germans don't question the trust in the authorities there will be no change. Hell I even believe Merkel will gain points in the surveys again.

Possible that he may not have been as secular as thought and the attack is rather explained by the usual secterian violence - shia-sunni, kurd-turk etc.

Also I think that even if you become atheist, then the values and norms of your previous religion and country seep in as well. That means that a Swedish atheist is still guided by the Christian values and a previously Muslim atheist will be highly different in outlook and actions.

Most atheists however move towards the leftist SJW brand, because that is pushed by the elite.

As for self-defense - there are more knowledgable members here for that.

But I thought about a stylish pimp-style walking cane that is steel reinforced and has a heavy handle. That way you can keep knife and machete wielding psychos at bay.

There are even some with an added taser feature. Alternatively there are combat umbrellas. All of those options are not illegal and don't get you in trouble, but offer good protection even against an axe.

Next time you visit Germany, Belgium, France, Austria or Sweden - bring your weaponry with you.

I mentioned it in a PM.

Importation and/or crafting of concealable or otherwise unobvious self defence weapons might well be a serious niche industry in the years to come.

Importing is a bit risky. At very least you're probably going to lose a lot of merch to customs and if your name pops up too often you'll get prosecuted.

On the other hand most Western nations have lax laws on actually crafting and selling such things yourself. The laws mostly revolve around not being allowed to carry such things on your person, which is the risk taken by the end user rather than the maker/seller.

You can get a permit to own a gas gun easy in Germany. You can buy knifes, batons and pepper spray legal. You can buy machetes and sticks. Bows and other stuff. You can even get real guns legal, you just have to join the next sport shooting club regular. There are millions of guns out there in Germany. So beside assault rifles you can own almost everything in Germany. You just can't carry it on the street.

Let's be clear Parzival - a gas gun is not a real gun. It has no lethal force and almost zero stopping power. It's merely a psychological deterrent which may or may not be effective against a single attacker. In a conflict against a violent crack addict or a gang of armed ME thugs it will accomplish very little and will most likely be used against you in the end. They probably wind up taking it from you and sticking it up your ass just to make a point. Most batons are extremely difficult to acquire in Europe and illegal to own. The Bonowi EKA for example is only available if you have a weapons permit or are active military/police personnel. See here - I just tried to buy one in Germany:

How many people are going to jump through all those hoops just to get their hands on a friggin' baton? Which by the way is useless without proper training. I do happen to have 20 years+ of extensive MA and weapons training, so I do know a thing about effective personal defense. I regularly train for combat against multiple attackers and I can assure you that it requires a mindset and set of skills, which 99.99% of young German men, you probably included, do not possess (no offense). They are weak, naive, and completely unprepared for what awaits them.

25 years ago, the last time I was there, I remember certain neighborhoods which were chock full of Turks mostly. Kreuzberg in Berlin and various suburbs in NRW - that area has always attracted a ton of 'Gastarbeiter'. Less of that in Bavaria, which was almost 95% white native Germans, which is one of the reasons why I loved it so much. Back then the Turks mostly kept to themselves and conflict was relegated to the areas they lived in.

So in a nutshell - it was a completely different country back then and if I went back today I would most likely go through a period of culture shock. It seems that most of all that Liberal bullcrap started in the early 1990s, AFTER the wall came down.

The country I remember almost does not exist anymore - due to my upbringing I have very little in common with modern young Germans and would not do well over there. Most likely I would be declared a social outcast mere days after arriving there.

Have you ever participated in any type of combat training? Any hand to hand combat? I'm not talking martial arts like TKD or Judo - I'm talking about street combat against multiple armed opponents, involving rapid submission and if required lethal force?

I know you've got your head and heart in the right place, Parzival, but I'm talking about skills and preparation here, i.e. the final segment of the OODA loop.

It did something like this and I had also some street fights. Also a case of self defense that lead to some time in jail because I did protect myself to hard. I work out and at the moment I stick with boxing - whats maybe not the best case for street defense but when I mix it with my mindset and skills its above average. Personal I don't hesitate any second to pull out eyes or kick some head on the street. Worthless scum is not worth to care about them.

Memorial for victims in #Munich on #McDonald & #OZE interrupted by Islamist with "Allahu Akbar".

If only you knew how bad things really are.

RE: 'Shots fired' in Munich shopping centre
Probably some of you have seen this video already but for those who haven't

I may burn in hell for this but I have to admit I did laugh when I heard that verbal exchange between 'Balcony Man' and the shooter' (begins around 06:50)
(perhaps easier to appreciate if you know some German too, if you watch the original video in German)
With that string vest and those quality one liners, the man has a future in comedy as a German version of Rab C. Nesbitt (broadcasting from Switzerland or Austria so as not to be impounded by the German authorities).
