Turkey is literally 50:50 in support and hatred against Erdogan. There are reports of mainy people in the street protesting the coup clashing with military.

I'd say civil war possibility is pretty high. Edit: Especially if Erdogan is able to flee.

I have observed the situation further. And guys, although I am optimistic by nature, I predict either a large scale uprising, or even civil war.

First of all, Erdogan was in power for quite a long time (10+ years), with a popular support, and support from the Army (which he purged in several waves from generals that were not loyal to him).



I expect that there will be a civil war, between


1. Erdogan's supporters (a large part of the population, sadly), reinforced by the elements of the Army still loyal to him (certainly not an insignificant number), and supported by Islamists from abroad.

..and

2. "Old Guard (Republicans)" - anti Erdogan ( mostly secular and urban population), supported by more moderate elements from the Army (which are still in majority), reinforced by the West.



Also, Kurds will certainly try to make the most out of this situation.

We will see... .
