This bitch is the definition of CHAV , white trash , bogan whatever you call it so I understand this is not the best example . However I have always noticed throughout time female authors have had an air of feminism to them . Is the act of lifting a pen and putting it to paper feminist itself ? From Emily Dickinson to Jane Austen to Toni Morrison to Taslima Nasreen to Virginia Woof . Even Maya Angelou has hints of feminism all through her work some would argue . Then there are the Emma Watson types who are feminist first and writing collumns because they are feminist and not the other way around .

We have mainstream approval and global recognition for books like 50 shades of grey which frankly doesn't bother me one bit due to the subject matter but the fact that it is incredibly poorly written (I have read a chapter just out of curiosity ) . I predict the new generation of famous authors would be poorly educated chavs who would get book deals and success because the dumbing down of society makes them an easier read .

I don't think there is anything particularly feminist about Fifty Shades of Grey or its author, unless you stretch the definition. She is just a bossy woman who hedonistically enjoys life. That's an age-old type.

Notable female writers/authors often have some sort of pride that makes it hard for them to see themselves as inferior to their men, but that's also an age-old trope. Unless they explicitly advocate/argue for the equality/superiority/victimhood of women (a lot of them do anyway), they're not really feminists. Ayn Rand had a lot of personal pride and hard-minded edge but she's totally opposed to feminism.

Why wouldn't we consider the poster a troll to come out with "his" very first post as a kind broad generalizations provocation?

Why don't you introduce yourself to the forum promiscuousboy and give a bit about your background and your relationships with women/girls so we get some ideas about your perspective on a more personal level, rather than some broad based theoretical baloney?

Whoa! Pump the brakes JJG! OP has a well written post and a thought provoking topic worthy of the EE section.

I'm all for roasting newbies when it's deserved, however it isn't now. Promiscuousboy's post was well written and up to RVF standards.

OP, there's a certain level of misanthropy with female authors. I was forced to read the Awakening in high school which was a terrible early feminism piece of writing. If you look at the history of these women you'll find most of them were just bored housewives especially (((Virginia Wolfe))).

As we know, feminism is what happens when women aren't kept busy or in line. I'd argue boredom first.

I stand by the contents of my original post. I don't think that my response rises to the level of attempting to roast any innocent bystander, and it should be fair enough for Op to introduce himself, especially when forumulating such a provocative first post.

Feminist ideology has definitely infiltrated the arts, esp. literature over the past ten or twenty years. It started with academia, then publishing and mass media. A lot of the shit published today is about the following themes:

- women heroically standing up to a male dominated society
- men being evil scumbags
- fat girls having a hard time in life
- non white women feeling marginalized

and so on, and so on. It's discouraging. We need a new Palahniuk.
