I get what you are saying but it is a little more nuanced than that. In this case, you are trying to control access to legal purchased firearms to known dangerous terrorists. The secret villain on no one's watchlist getting guns is always going to be a problem. The objective should be to close this "common sense" loophole in a manner that won't impede a legitimate citizen from gaining access.

The fact that a guy on a terror watch list, getting radical inside our country, obtained a state gun license because he had no felonies, is an obvious hole in our legal system. His license should have had some action taken upon it or something else. Would it have stopped this killer? Probably not, but that hole still needs to be addressed or filled in some way.

People will always be able to buy hot guns, ghost guns (no serials or fake ones), and other illegal weapons from places like Arizona, SF, etc. from illegal sellers. On paper there are laws for this, just need better enforcement. Once terrorists start using avenues like this, then we are going to have to go back to the drawing board again and address that. Let's get that low hanging fruit first.

Want we do not need to do is adopt a "fuck it" attitude in either direction, for or against gun control. We have not banned cars and drunk driving is a bigger problem. Sometimes laws don't work, but creative incentives might (ie public transportation). Outright banning guns or even all forms of Islam is not feasible. Americans should be able to put some braintrust together and do better than this. When guys think stuff like, "it's just fags, I don't care much." That misses the big picture. Today it's gays, tomorrow it will be some other group the Muslims will hate.

If an immigration ban ends up being the best workable solution, and we just have to constantly wack and track the ones here already, that get radical as they spring up, so be it! We still need to think through all the possible options and do the due diligence to close any holes and outstanding issues.

The public is not responsible for placating potential extremists within any ideological, religious or political group. Abusers’ actions are their own responsibility and theirs alone. Churches allow people to open carry to service, depending on the region you're in, it's treated like an article of clothing. I agree with you on the media would not have liked talking about how a person put down an attacker. Local media would like it, but that would be it, they love bragging on local folks.

I fully agree on making pushes and drives to educate and arm folks. As much as the national govt hates that, not every state would be on board either. Even the ones with concealed carry unfortunately.

In Florida concealed permit holders are not allowed to carry in the "bar area" of a restaurant or in an entire place whose primary business is alcohol. It's about the place not the intent. The club would be a place entirely off limits to concealed carry except for employees who ARE allowed to carry in their own place of employment.

You are not allowed to sit at a bar for lunch even if you are not drinking and concealed carry, but you are allowed to go to dinner and have drinks while carrying. There is an important thing to know. If you get drunk defined as beyond the legal driving limit, you may go home carrying, but if you TOUCH your weapon while drunk it is an automatic felony.

Most of the Florida gun laws are pretty common sense and there are some special state quirks that a new resident or visitor would want to know. For example no one can be told by an employer that they cannot leave a gun in their car in their work parking lot, it is a protected right to drive to work and leave your gun in your car. You do not need a permit to have your gun in your home or business, and in regards to your auto, no permit is required as long as your weapon requires two steps to get to it in the car. Like, in the glovebox and in another holster with a snap. But if you do have a concealed carry permit the two steps doesn't apply you can just carry concealed, in your pocket, on a belt, purse etc, unholstered if you like.

You can open carry in your business or on your property but otherwise Florida is not very friendly to open carry. Some new law that would have changed that died. There used to be a really tough warning shot law that basically said if you fire a warning shot you get 20 years. The point is you don't use a deadly weapon unless your life is in danger and you have to shoot the PERSON. That changed to three years I think. The other thing is Florida does not tolerate brandishing of any kind. You cannot be in an argument or even be under threat and SHOW your weapon, "Hey MoFo I have a gun." Again, if you need your weapon it is because your life is in danger and you are going to use DEADLY force. If this kind of thing interests you you MUST read Florida Firearms Law Use and Ownership by Jon Gutmacher. If you bought a gun in Florida and they didn't MAKE you buy this book they did you a disservice.

The concealed carry permit requires a class and an FBI background check. I hope after seeing this story more bar owners and employees will think about concealed carry and training. The more good people have guns the less whatever this was will happen.

If I meet a terrorist OR a false flag freedom stealing operative, I will introduce them to My Good Friend Dan Wesson, and do my best to put a stop to their plans. My plan was designed in 1911 and still works today.

Just who do you think this "common sense" gun control is going to be aimed at? On what planet do you suddenly expect your hostile government to use such powers to restore a state of sanity that it has busily been destroying at every opportunity for decades.

I can't even begin to emphasise this enough. If you think that at this terrifying point in global history that granting your government the ability to take guns from people they designate as "the wrong sort" because it might have prevented a muslim shooting a bunch of gays, then you, sir, are out of your gourd, and I say that with the highest respect that your rep level can afford.

If a woman I know is getting beaten by her boyfriend do I rush to bash him? No. You know why? Because in most instances she will take the side of the abuser and I will end up in jail. How do some of you guys not see this?

How do you know nobody tried to fight back? Charging someone with an automatic weapon isnt the same as charging someone with a knife. The first 5-10 people who rush WILL get shot, so unless you have rallied more than that you are fucked. How sure are you that the people you tried to rally wonr freeze the moment the gunshots ring? Not to mention, alchohol was involved. Keyboard warrioring is unnecessary in a situation like this.

I like the Grateful Dead—much like my conservative counterparts, Ann Coulter and Tucker Carlson. Being a long-time fan of the band, I was kind of bummed to see this video. I always knew they leaned to the left, but I preferred when they weren’t vocal about it.

And despite producing and distributing literally millions of doses, they only got marginally prosecuted. Many of their contemporaries got locked away for years for far smaller drug offenses.

Funny you mention the grateful dead drug conspiracy. They're on tour and LSD and ketamine have flooded the black market from what I hear.

As a former PCP addict and someone who who's probably dropped 1000 hits of acid I can say firsthand these drugs are evil. They confuse your interpretation of reality and produce a warped false spiritual experience.

The only drug I use now is caffeine and nicotine. Fuck the grateful dead and their CIA drug schemes.
