Two Questions
Hello,

I've been reading ROK for a while now and I've been trying to wrap my mind around some concepts; I hope some of you will be able to help me make the mental links:

1) I was wondering if some men are just naturally alpha and/or have never had to swallow the red pill?

2) I am trying to understand the link between women's hypergamy and their association of sex with emotions. For men, our sexual needs are (primarily) physical. For women, it's (primarily) an emotional need. Is this dichotomy true? If so, how does hypergamy affect their emotional satisfaction?

RE: Two Questions
Weird start to the thread but i'll chip in and answer.

Some men are certainly naturaly alpha. There are are set of traits that all 'alpha' men have that some men just naturally posess. Confidence, charisma, humor, social-awareness, good looks, the list goes. Some childhood conditions can create these personality traits (alpha parents, extremely detached/bad parents). Everyone else develops these traits.

In my opinion this dichotomy is true to an extent. However I wouldn't say that women's need for sex is purely emotional. It is physical too, just not entirely physical like it is for men. Sometimes you bang a sloot and she was just physically very horny. Especially in our modern era, women are becoming slaves to their physical need for sex as the social consequences of being a sexually prolific girl are becoming smaller.

Hypergamy is bad for women's psyches. Women with high numbers are definitely damaged emotionally, you just need to talk to them for an hour and you can see it quite easily. Different men are like a drug to them. They will continue to take yards of new dick per year, and each one in an emotional sense is less satisfying than the last. Men become more like human dildos than partners. I've seen women go from virgins to sloots in less than a year, and with it their emotional stability plummet.

Nah, I couldn't tell that guy apart from Adam. Since our ability to post hinges on when our accounts are approved (1st and 15th of every month, I think?) there's going to be a build-up of dudes waiting to say hi, ask questions and answer.

So would it be fair to say that women have been conditioned to approach sex like a man because they've been conditioned to think that there are no differences between men and women? That the double standard between studs and sluts are crap?

I see. I'm interested to know how hypergamy hurts women's psyches... what's the mechanism?

RE: Two Questions
1. Yes, though they often get feminized due to society. Even all your great movie heroes are portrayed as getting oneitis for a chick. Han Solo and Leia. Maverick and Charlie. William Wallace and Murron (though he was sort of the alpha provider), followed by Princess Isabelle. Robin Hood and Lady Marion. I can think of few movies or TV shows where the protagonist is a bona fide poon plunderer. I know many men who are naturally alpha, but have swallowed the blue pill. I find myself thinking, "You should slay all the poon around, yet you're married to a woman who is marginally attractive."

2. Hypergamy is a fancy way of saying women want a "high value", masculine man. High value takes many different forms. It can be achieved with looks, money, or generally being interesting. Han Solo wasn't rich, but he was charismatic and cool. Maverick was a fighter pilot in a leather jacket. Most men are boring - they sell insurance for a living or work in an IT department. Women want a man who excites them, not who bores them with tales of things their coworkers said at the water cooler.

I have found that carrying yourself off as "masculine" differentiates you from 90% of other men. In this world, we're being taught that acting feminine will attract females. Be sensitive, communicative, and make sure to attend to her every emotional need. Then she'll fall for you over those "alpha jerkboys."

The opposite is true. Be unapologetic, be interesting, and understand that emotional neediness is the hallmark of appearing feminine. Engage in heavy weight lifting and dangerous physical activity. Find inspiration from great men (Arnold, Trump, Reagan, Caesar, etc.) and ancient Greek heroes. Start businesses. Take risks. Educate yourself in classical philosophy, and disregard all forms of this new academic nonsense. Learn how to change tires, start fires in the woods, and maybe take up MMA. Do not send emotional text messages about all of your feelings.

You don't know how often I get "Hank is a chauvinist pig, but I need a MAN to handle this." I've also found that for the most part, most of the women I date end up dumping me, and then calling me about 8 months later. "Hank was a dick, Hank was unemotionally available, but God did I like having his silly, cocky, unapologetic ass around."

Your other question has been answered well by other replies. But when it comes to what men need. Men need both the physical and emotional connection. This is the reason why you see the most successful guys in the world still end up dating or marrying one primary girl. They also usually have some mistresses hidden away for the physical need for sex.

Guys have an insane desire for sex, but we also have a strong psychological desire to make a genuine connection.

Lack of emotional availability, plus I tend to check out of relationships at some point. Women always say they're okay with keeping it casual and then they never are.

By alpha, assuming you mean "self-reliance" Let's talk.

Take two guys, both with similar make-ups and genetics.

One sits on the computer all day long reading manosphere blogs and books on how to be alpha, he's funny, he's charming, he has a way with words. Lets call him "FuckHerInThePussy89". He gets a very good reputation, starts a blog, starts a podcast, writes an ebook saying the same things others have said for the past 10 years etc, even charges for Skype sessions and sells a DVD program entitled "How to be Alpha.". People admire him. He a scholar. He likes this admiration. He likes the money.

Then there is another guy:

Let's say he is in a plane crash , loses his whole family, has to bury his 5 year old daughter to keep the vultures from eating her body. All he has with him is some dry clothes, a rifle, a knife, and a few miscellaneous items. He knows that camp is 20 miles west and it's going to take him a few weeks to get there. He has another daughter at home so he can't give up. In the distance he hears the howls of wolves and the snow is coming.

Assuming guy one ever gets off the computer and guy two survives the wilderness. Which one will spend their life being self-reliant and living a truly masculine role, walking his own path, and not giving a fuck what others think.

So no, I don't think being alpha is natural, it's an acquired trait starting at birth by refusing to fold with the deck of cards that society or God has dealt you. It takes struggle and pain to take on that role and can't be learned by reading. And keep in mind, there is huge difference between being alpha and being popular.

To be perfectly honest with you, If I would take all the guys from the forum that I've met that I would consider alpha. They all have one thing in common. They've been dealt a pretty shitty hand of cards and inside their head is a constant struggle on a constant basis. They all lived a life like guy number 2 but have slightly different stories.

That's my take.

I've always had this thought in the back of my mind, where I feel jealousy? envy? awe? when I meet people like you describe, who appear as if they are owning their world and the worlds around them (alpha). The most common trait I've noticed among these people is, like you said, some shitty hand of cards they overcame and you could say inspired, motivated, kicked their ass etc to not waste their life because they were so close to having their life destroyed or taken away or some other tragedy.

So then, as someone much closer to camp #1, how do you approach the mindset camp #2 has? Purposefully putting your self in life threatening situations or "giving away your cards" so to speak to reach this kind of point is fucking stupid. Nobody willfully inflicts poverty onto themselves or gets themselves addicted to heroin or sent to prison in order to become a better person. When the worst struggle you've had to overcome is just a disappointment of yourself, what can you do to instill in yourself this sense of struggle that must be overcome at all costs?

I have to disagree. Guy #1 creates an online empire, making far more than guy #2, and took no unnecessary physical risks. Guy #1 teaches how to be alpha to millions of readers and creates a new mindset for a new age. No matter if he is censored, others will carry on the torch of truth, and his legacy will live on.

Guy #2 survives for a few days, like on a t.v. show Naked and Afraid, might get a 20 second local news segment, and disappears into obscurity. Comparing apples to apples, I say guy #1 is far more alpha. I aspire to be like him.

I said nothing about legacy or building an empire. I doubt guy number 2 is going to give two shits about legacy.

So you think this Meehow PUA guy who does exactly what you talk about:

is more alpha than Olympic gold medalist Rulon Gardner:

Quote:In 2002, Gardner went snowmobiling with some friends in the mountains surrounding Star Valley, Wyoming. At one point, he became separated from the group. During his efforts to regain his composure and regroup, he fell into the freezing Salt River with his snowmobile. Unable to move any farther, Gardner decided to build a shelter and wait for a rescue team. He remained stranded for the next 18 hours. After several hours in his makeshift shelter, he stopped shivering, which led him to believe that he was dying. When he was eventually rescued, he was experiencing hypothermia and severe frostbite. Due to the physical damage, a saw had to be used to remove his boots. The harrowing experience cost Gardner the middle toe on his right foot, which he keeps in formaldehyde in a jar in his refrigerator, to remind him of his mortality.

Quote:On February 24, 2007,[9] Gardner and two other men survived a crash when a light aircraft he was traveling in crashed into Lake Powell, Utah. The men swam an hour in 44 °F (7 °C) water to reach shore, and then spent the night without shelter.

I think they are alpha in different environments. The former has high SMV in an urban, post-survivalist society that negates the need for a man to grow his own crops and rear his own livestock for sustenance. He does not need to go out into the woods to hunt. It's just like how women in these modern environments function too--they don't need to attend to lots of menial work and labor.

The latter appears to be able to thrive in a survivalist society.
