If the statement in the Humans of New York thing Days of Broken Arrows posted above is a direct quote from the woman, does it contain a Freudian slip?

Now she's faced with a dilemma: Do I lower my standards even more? Should I just wait it out? Is my Prince Charming right around the corner — or should I start my subscription to Cat Fancy?

I noticed the same thing, but couldn't really put it into words, very well done. As you said "settle" is very different from "settle down" and I think your point is spot on.

And this is why even the feminists who do manage to end up married don't lose any of their bitterness and anger, it's because they didn't end up with their first choice. They settled.

Think Lindy West wanted to marry an effeminate non-white guy? One can tell from that photo where she's wearing a (xxxxxxxxl-sized) t shirt stating "I wish I had the confidence of a mediocre white guy" that she's still extremely angry at the world for 'forcing' her to settle.

Being genuinely curious as to why, I gave her a call. On the phone she was angry, defensive, and rotten to the core. I kept my cool, but told her she was obviously "jaded" by the dating scene and should take a break.

Here's the message I receive after:



These women are so used to having men subjugate themselves before their throne, that their brain goes into complete meltdown over something as simple as a man not answering the phone when she calls.

The text is full of stuff I hate: qualification, and droning on about eunich orbiters. But good to know she finds the funny side to death.
