No people should be condemend for wanting to fight to preserve their cultural heritage and people. Whether they win or lose is another story entirely since history is full of conquered and "endangered" people who went for that last stand and lost. It seems it's always better to fight rather than just disappear into history as a footnote or worse give up your lands to invaders with a culture and religion that is the complete antithesis of your own shared cultural values.

The anglosphere as it exists right now is just a big social experiment. Too many nations in Europe are following an experiment that has not been proven to succeed over time and is in fact in the process of failing in many ways.

Homogenous "racial" identity and cultural roots is what seems to stand the test of time the best. That may change as time passes and some nations may integrate racially and linguistically similar people as they always have but overall a national identity built on a homogenous foundation leads to the strongest and most enduring form of nationalism.

You nailed it again. Despite not being a beneficiary of the exclusive culture of the other countries I've lived in, I still respect, and actually appreciate, that they care more about creating a sense of national identity than appeasing the sensibilities of foreigners. I wish my home country would unapologetically do the same thing. Most of the world (rightfully) thinks we're idiots on this issue, not progressive trailblazers.

And you're right that we're essentially the canary in the coal mine for the West's crumbing multicultural experiment. While many people shit on China, the Chinese very fairly look at us as embarking upon a completely unproven and inherently destabilizing approach to culture and governance. I would say they're pretty fucking dead on so far. Every nation needs an identity and common set of values. "We accept everyone and every belief" is not a set of values. It's a dangerous delusion.

Quote:Refugees will visit the Berlin Carnival of Cultures - and some must first cope with the sight of scantily clad dancers.

For refugees like Ayman from Egypt that is not an option. At the Berliner Hermannplatz - formerly feared as a social hotspot, now conquered by hipsters - he placed on a stone pedestal, to get a better look. Wife Sophie is on the sward and watched with amusement as he enjoys the spectacle.

The two are the nightmare for every AfD voters. He Egyptian, 30, since January 2015 Berlin. She German, 48, a teacher at a Berlin Welcome Class. "We have no marriage of convenience," says Sophie, although of course each accepting.

Got to know each on the two urban Charlottenburg station, Ayman had just arrived by train from Paris, where he had applied for asylum. "I helped him, explained the way," says Sophie. About three weeks later, the two were a pair; in August 2015 they were married. But the Berlin authorities do not believe.

On September 25, there was a knock early in the morning at the front door of Sophie; there were police officers who wanted to Ayman to the airport - for deportation. But the newly married couple had got wind of and settled in time. "We were three weeks on the flight," says Sophie.

Meanwhile her husband has received a one-year residence permit, takes part in an integration course and completed an internship. All friends of Ayman had already been deported, says Sophie. Egyptians are not registered as Syrians or Iraqis. Although the country is governed authoritarian and dissidents are persecuted. "In Egypt they would Ayman immediately put into military prison and torture," says Sophie. He then takes the military. "He can return in no case there."

Sophie does not understand the authorities. A friend of Ayman, Egyptian Christian, they would be deported on the last possible day of toleration. "Everyone knows what Christians in Egypt threatened," says Sophie. No more welcoming culture. "The mood in the country has turned."

So here we have a man who is actually a Christian from the Middle East, and is therefore a legitimate refugee, as opposed to the Muslims who rule the Middle East and have no immediate threats to their safety. Yet he needs to fuck Grandma and marry her or else Germany will deport him?

Germany won't accept Christians or Ukrainians as refugees, but will accept Muslims who rule the Middle East. So dysfunctional.

You may have to go and spend some time there to grasp the essence of the reality that I am asserting, as it exists on the ground. I agree that Asia seems like a mountaintop that is far from the hordes and the subverters, but I submit that its most important psychological benefits will never be available to you.

I'd much sooner retreat to Central or Eastern Europe and wall up with a nation of people who aren't so cucked. If that's where you are now, then I'll only state that perhaps our experiences of doing multicultural hard-time have been different.

I fully agree with you guys that I will be a stranger in a strange land. I also know that I will only stomach Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong or maybe Shanghai for a prolonged period.

However I will never melt into the society as I do in the US (my accent after 1 month stay disappears), UK, Europe or Eastern Europe. Since I speak multiple languages I can live as a local even in France.

That will never be possible in Asia. All I say is that I wish to not live in Europe while a civil war, WW3 or massive riots happen. It will all quiet down afterwards in a nice totalitarian state, but by then many would have died. I just wish me, my family and friends not to be part of the ones who have to go through this.

I even have Japanese-American acquaintances who were treated almost as foreigners despite looking Japanese and speaking Japanese well. Just being born and grown up in the US lets them feel alien. But at least strangers assume they are locals.

So yes - the reaons why Asia will retain their culture is the reason why it will be a non-homely place for Westerners. Essentially even after 50 years you will be seen as a tourist there.

But you see - I don't mind that for various reasons that are based on my personal characteristics and lifestyle. Besides - I can always return to a European country to feel more 'local', if I want to.

Fortunately (and unfortunately) one of the defining features of many Asian nations is the idea of nationality and ethnicity merged into one. It's cool that they can say "I am Chinese" and mean it on the national and ethnic level. It is a great advantage, although I think that it has its shortcomings too.

Outside of exceptional circumstances, most foreigners aren't truly welcome in the upper-echelons of Asian cultures. It keeps things insular and in-house, but it also deters exceptional individuals from moving there at some level.

Sure, Starbury was able to become a Chinese citizen, but he probably makes China a lot of money.

I think eastern Europe has a similar cultural feature but it is more fluid than it is in Asia (correct me if I'm wrong). I often get the impression that even a foreigner who speaks the language in an EE country is still viewed as an outsider for the most part.

I do think this conservative feature in countries will be a strength in the times ahead, but I don't think it will work for Japan given their abysmal birth rates.

I love living in China, but I harbor not fantasies of being welcome here in the long term. I've read that after the age of 65 it is very hard to stay in china long-term.

Ironically, I actually feel much safer in China than I did back home in a first-world country, despite not really being allowed to merge into the culture here.

Some time to bring back a personal report. As you may now I did visit a refugee camp last year a few times and in my town we had about 900 of them, means 4.5% of the population. Now one camp with 500 inhabitants is closed. One with 100 is left but the number slows down. Then the rest of them get spread all over the community. In containers that are used as rooms or apartments. Sometimes you see some with their bicycles or see them downtown. I haven't seen some at the last festival that we had but the weather was bad. Soon there will be also a festival, mostly you see just the locals and the foreigners (Indians & Chinese) that work in the companies here. Not a lot of Arabs / Refugees. All in all this area is quite safe and the crimes of the refugees do not stand out to the ones that also happen here. No attacks on women so far - just remember one report. In the next city with 500.000 inhabitants there had be some rapes of refugees.

After they are done in the refugee camps, most of them get spread over the area into houses. I guess also many move just to the bigger cities. I guess when they are in small communities the social control is a way stricter thats why there is less crime from them. Bigger cities had be always a hotspot for criminals. Furthermore even when I read about stuff in my state, Bavaria is still more safe then other states. We have a lower quote of fake refugees from the Balkans or Maghreb. Still after the cases I did hear women should be careful and I have some concerns for the coming summer and the festivals. Just at the moment there is a big 10 day festival going on close to my town, and there had be reports of groping women. Either it had be drunk Germans or the Invaders. Of course I don't know whats hold back by the police so far and there are attacks all over in general. Means when in some town something happen - its one case to much. Of course the bigger scale is lost because mostly really criminal hotspots you just have in places like Cologne, Berlin, Bremen and so on. A few cases in more rural areas seem to be acceptable but when you have those few cases all over the country, concern should rise.

That's the crux of it right there. There will always be outliers who can make it work. If you know yourself and you know the country, you should be fine.

It is more that many people writing online underestimate cultural differences. I know I did years ago when I moved to the UK. After three years I was pretty alienated and isolated and didn't realize that even those people I had been watching speak my language on Public Broadcasting shows were very different from me.

Being a stranger in a strange land can be fulfilling for the right person.
Shoubuliao 路 2016-05-17 12:32:00 路 #9662
The key, as Zelcorpion said, is he can always go somewhere else if he wants to feel more 'local.' But the real problem for a lot of people is if you stay in one place too long, your skill set may not transfer to other countries, meaning you're kind of stuck unless you want to work a shit job. If you have a location independent job that's one thing, but most don't, especially one that pays enough to get by in the developed world. I say this not to discourage people from living abroad, but rather to make sure they're thinking about the long game. Don't let yourself lose track of time out there. Keep building those damn skills, whether you want to be self employed or work for a company.

I think I have read in an hungarian datasheet that western foreigners who speak hungarian were seen in very good eyes, of course I can imagine it is due to it is a rare case, since immigration tend to be the other way around.

In Brazil I saw foreigners get very well received when they speak portuguese. I'm not sure if then can become "one of the tribe" in most small cities, but in Sao Paulo they blended well due to the fact that there is a lot of them and people have become used to it

To be honest it is really weird to see a foreigner who speaks perfectly the language of the population and integrates in their way of living in Latin America, here in Buenos Aires most Americans I have met live in a way different life than the locals, going to expat pubs and rarely having Argentinean friends. The french people I meet tell me all the time that they want to make local friends and get better with their Spanish, but 90% of time you see them hanging out with other french people. Brazilians are the same. The most integrated foreigners I see are the Italians, probably because there is not a lot of them, though people see them as very closed because tons of people have Italian grandfathers.
When I was in the US, in states with big Hispanics populations, I was surprised by how many Hispanics were living in their parallel world, tons of them didn't speak English. That contrasts with all the teenage Americans that I meet here that were born from one or two Argentinean parents in the US and in this case it is the contrary, they don't speak any Spanish The difference is that they were born in the midwest.

What I mean is that I believe the only way that you can really become "one of them" is to go where you have a similar culture to the population and can't form your enclaves so easily, that is the fail of multiculturalism, you can't just bring one thousand people, put them on the same neighborhood and wait them to acquire the values and costumes of the place they are living. The question here is, will you really become one of them? if there is not much of your people so you can compare, you can't know in advance. You are going to have to invest years learning the language and bonding with people to discover it by yourself. I met a polish girl who talked me about a Brazillian guy who she met in Poland. He has been living there for 10 years, the way she talked me about him tells me something, after all that time she saw him as something exotic, which in fact he is, 2 years ago before reading this forum I just couldn't imagine someone telling me that he is going to Poland for the rest of his live. In Latin countries is not like you move to get different jobs like in the US or Europe, we are too close to our families, the only reason people from small cities move to big cities is for the money. When some cousins where planing to migrate to another country they were planing to do it with their parents and sisters. Western culture is very individualistic, I'm thinking I'm probably too, as it is this guy who lives in Poland.

On the other hand there is also the other scenario, where a city gets so much people from everywhere, that nobody is so different by being a foreigner, I supose London, Singapur, Toronto and Vancouver are like that at this moment. Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo would be kind of a second tier of that list, since really nobody cares if you are not from there, just be prepared to spend lots of time with your fellow expats.

I can confirm this to more or less the case. The more different you look/behave the less trust you'll be given by local people. Eastern Europeans have long and vivid historical experience with incompatible foreign folk present in their countries. Ask any Hungarian what he thinks about gypsies from Romania and you'll know what I'm talking about. That's why we don't want anyone too unlike us - it almost always created problems.

If you're white/european the only thing preventing you from being accepted by society is the language, really. Learn it and you should be fine. If you're black, Asian, come from a completely different culture you'll be an outsider for a long time.

^The best part of that German TV report was at the end, when that guy from the police said that the perpetrators of the attacks are already known to the police for physical assault and theft. After being detained and questioned at the police, they were released and turned over to their parents, allegedly for being minors.

Also, I couldn't help but notice the overall aura of weakness, helplessness and confusion that emanated from both the narrators, as well as the people interviewed. "OMG, we're being assaulted and raped by hordes of third-world savages who are invading our country in droves. How come this is happening, what can we possibly do?" is basically how they're thinking. They're pondering over the issue as if it were some kind of a gargantuan problem, and not something that could be very easily solved by the military and the police only if the government wanted to.

Man. You just couldn't make this stuff up even if you wanted to!

^ Exactly. To witness such weakness from the authorities is galling, what has happened to this great nation that it would let a shower of runts from the third world intimidate them so.
As Stefan Molyneux has said, parts of Europe, indeed much of the West is a Matriarchy, certainly in the last couple of decades anyway(with so many women in high-up political positions across Western Europe, vast majority of teachers are female, journalism and the media is increasingly the domain of women, etc) and this makes it easy pickings for invaders from Patriarchal dominant cultures who know they can act with impunity without getting punished for it.
It's sickening to see Germany bend over for these ingrates, like the Swedes they are way too 'nice' to stand up for themselves, their culture and tradition and their childrens' future.
The AfD are the only hope for Germany now, I just hope that enough Germans will vote for them and stand up to the thought police, Antifa and all the University educated useful idiots(and they are legion) and the moral posturing and political correctness of the German media to take back their country before the cancer of open borders has ruined their country's future beyond repair.

I wonder what he would think of things now, now that the Europe has gone into defcuck 1 full retard status with the ongoing mass invasion.

The nativity is amazing. In the report they say, even with a strong police force they can't prevent the attacks. Of course you can't. Why? All the offenders are well known but do not face any real consequences. So why should they stop when they see the police? They know nothing will happen to them. Just a new crime on their record. Thats all. Germans are more scared to be called intolerant racist and held accountable for generalize then to take action against scum. Some broken bones and lost teeth is the answer, not wrong tolerance.
We hadn't this mess when the just keep to our laws and not condemn them. This means, nobody with no legal right enters. Then we had less people and not those problems. But this no one is illegal crap is mind cancer. When you have no more laws, you have chaos. And then you have arbitrariness and freedom is lost. Those women feel now the lack of their freedom because many of them thought in the first place, rules are there to bend and for me and my little refugees you can do an excuse.

The good thing, those stuff happen all in the big cities, where the people vote mostly left wing.

Also one important quote to keep in mind:

Bottom line, when the baby is dissolved in solution, you do have to throw the baby out with the bath water, no matter whether your goal is to dispose of the baby or the bath water.

*WE* won鈥檛 be coming out of the woodwork en masse and uniting to rebuild society.

There is no we.

Every fucker for himself.

Amity that quote is from the Peloponnesian war by Thucydides the Athenian, the founder of modern history. Quite possibly the greatest book ever written. The forum did a reading on it last year.

To give some context, some less powerful state basically argues it's not fair for Athens to try to subjugate them. The Athenians then kill or enslave everyone there.

Except this time, the Strong is deliberately subjecting their own citizens in favor of the weak. It's pathological sociopathy towards their own. Fundamentally, the citizens of Western Europe are brainwashed and apathetic, which allows for the most evil rulers to run amok and destroy everything for their own gain.

This has happened several times in history before.

Communist revolutions.
Justinian the Great.
"Civil Rights" movements in America.
African leaders selling fellow Blacks into slavery to Muslims and Europeans.
The Crusades after the First one.
Witch hunts.

Actually it's rather common. It's the logical result of not keeping your government under control, someone will abuse the power for their own ends.

In an environment where everybody trusts everybody sociopaths thrive.
