Make sure you see a optometrist every year for a few years with contacts. Its very easy to wear them wrong and get scratching and infections. Toric contacts are more expensive and only come in 10 degree increments.

For those players out there with contacts, make sure you put some solution into your contact case and put the case into your pocket before a night out. You'll be able to take your contacts out at the end of the night if you get lucky!

My eyes were very light sensitive right after the surgery, fortunately I remembered to bring sunglasses and wore them as my friend who drove me and I walked out of the hospital. My eyes were dry and I constantly put the artificial tears in my eyes. I took some percocet and slept and listened to audiobooks during the first few days. I couldn’t watch television or use the computer during the recovery process. I couldn’t read or really even see any sort of detail for the first two days and the third day I finally could see and the light didn’t hurt too bad.

It’s been a week now. I went in for my follow-up appointment yesterday and the doctor cleared me to drive. He also removed the bandage contact lenses and my eyes felt a bit exposed and a bit dry. I just continue to put the artificial tears in and everything is fine. I can read and see this computer screen though it is a bit blurry. I changed the resolution so I can more easily read text on the screen. I have a date with a new girl tomorrow…the girl knows the situation but I am wondering how she’ll react to me busting out the plastic Refresh packs every few minutes to drop in my eyes. Fuck it, I am so glad I did this.

It's been over 5 years now since my PRK surgery and my vision is still perfect. One of the best decision of my life. The recovery took a few days but it wasn't that bad. Got no side effects that happens to some people such as blurry night vision and dry eyes.

It was worth shopping around since the price varied a lot between the different places, and in some places I didn't get to meet the surgeon or was informed about possible side effects.

I thought about laser correction but decided against it. I don't like the idea of irreversible damage. There's a better way to correct myopia in the form of implants such as Visian ICL. What makes all the difference is that the procedure is fully reversible. If only I qualified (sight not short enough)...

So I am testing out some contacts - got 2 week types and monthlies. The 2 weeks seem thin, have not tried the monthlies. Any suggestion on how long I should wear them for? Forgot to ask the optometrist. Just meaning to ease into them, maybe a couple of hours first few days?

Doing a bit of blinking - do you guys have a preference for eye drops?

Sort of a weird sensation - I sort of feel the contacts more in the corner (outer away from nose) than anywhere else.

You just have to try different contacts and drops until you find what works best for you. Don't start doing long stints immediately, take them out if your eyes start to feel tired. I strongly recommend wearing contacts no longer than ~12 hours straight, basically go to sleep without them. If you feel the edge of your contact is a bit sharp you can flip it in and out a few times and that should make it go away. Of course it's best to place contacts directly on top of your iris so it will just drop in instead of sliding in. Don't force anything, if you can't make it comfortable, take it out and try again later.

Look into something called "Corneal Reshaping Therapy" lenses.

I liked the monthlies better but they got stuck! Took me a while to get them out.

Seems like the fit was too perfect, I could get them to slide off the eyeball.

Maybe just an experience thing. Anyone had a difficult time popping off contacts? Any suggestions?

You may be able to improve your eyesight naturally. I only just learned about this but it looks very promising.

I find that the longer you wear them the less moisture between your cornea and a contact lens; comfort depends on this. That's why they get difficult to take out after being worn for too long and why I don't sleep with them on. Look for contacts with the most percentage of water you can get, 45-48% irritated me, 55% is much better.
