I've been abusing my 4Runner for almost a decade now and it's still solid as ever. Not having to worry about curbs and potholes is pretty nice. Not sure if I'll ever want anything but a Toyota/Lexus.

I'm hard on my cars; I treat them as white goods really, despite being a massive petrolhead.

My BMW 4x4 is 2 years old now and has 33000miles. It is already beginning to show signs of not liking the strain. Nothing major has gone wrong yet but I can just "feel" it deteriorating.

There really is nothing like a Toyota/Lexus for build quality in this sector.

Living in London I naturally drive a hot hatch. Great on fuel economy though.

I'm calling Beta but will reserve judgement.

There's nothing wrong with having a small car in London!

Calling a diesel a "Hot Hatch" is though! It's just a car buddy.

Budget for CE rated, armored gear ( shoulders, elbows, knees, hips, back), boots, gloves, helmet. Then figure out your bike budget after that.

I ride rain or shine in 4 season armored gear. I recommend ABS on a first bike, but that's just me. I've since moved onto a non-abs bike and practice threshold braking. This is critical.

I also took the MSF course. It's invaluable.

I was recently in a motorcycle accident. Guy got onto my lane, without signaling, so I had to break as fast as possible, and naturally the rear wheel slipped. I was going at a speed between 20-40km/h.
Here's what I learned:
#1 It fucking hurts as hell.
#2 Don't ever buy a system helmet. (I did have one and I was lucky it was closed)
#3 Always use protection on the knees and have good gloves. You will probably fall on them.
#4 The majority of motorcycle accidents are not the motorcyclist fault.
#5 Most taxi drivers should be shot. Twice.

I'm kinda curious to hear what the answer is. I've banged more chicks in car with a missing door panel than my friend has with his mercedes..so idk if the car really matters in getting the lay.

There's nothing wrong with having a small car full stop as long as it's a bit of a hooligan. Something like a Renault Twingo RS 133 is perfect for everyday use and a riot to drive, such a nimble little bastard. Highly recommended. I know what was the idea behind this topic but if one can't thoroughly enjoy something like a hot Twingo then maybe he's trying too hard to prove something and that always raises 'the small cock' suspicion.

What a man can't drive though is a pink Nissan Micra. I would drive that one off a cliff.

I'm carless right now since my Jeep broke down twice this year. Sold it to a dealer last week.

What do you think about 1980's Porsche 944 mechanico? Alpha or beta? Reliable? They're pretty cheap for a Porsche & I love the look. A lot of mixed reviews online.

Not really so reliable. Put it this way I made all the money to open my business by working on them and parting them out.

If you get one 1985.5 is when they changed and were made worse if you want a nice one get a "S" whatever the last year made was.

^^ Hey El Mech..what do you think about the Acura TLX? Late 2014, Acura cut out the 1) TL and 2) TSX while combining both models into the TLX. My car is a bit old & want an upgrade that is nice though fuel efficient & reliable.

Ironically, I know a reliable Greek mechanic in my city who can fix up the transmission after the 100K mile mark as Honda/Acura automatic shifters tend to have issues around that point.

What do you think about the new Audi s4. I really see one in my future. Can't afford an m3 so the Audi will have to do. And I'm not feeling the 335i or the c300 coupe.

David took his men with him and went out and killed two hundred Philistines and brought back their foreskins. They counted out the full number to the king so that David might become the king's son-in-law. Then Saul gave him his daughter Michal in marriage. 1 Samuel 18:27

Update?

After 4 years I still can't decide if my ride is beta or not... it's a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL, V4, Black exterior and interior, spoiler, sunroof and upgraded sound system with SYNC. It's kind of like Jerry's two faced girlfriend from Seinfeld; from some angles it looks boxy and cool but from others it looks like an old man car. It was a compromise choice for a family car.

Been rocking an impeccably maintained (and paid off) 4th Gen Toyota 4 Runner for almost a decade myself. Coincidentally the V8 model shares its drivetrain with 2 higher class vehicles the Land Cruiser and Lexus LX470. It gets me where I need to be: to the mountains, ski slopes, high desert shooting lanes, and it tows 7400 lbs if I need to move on short notice. Not to mention I can sleep, fuck, and cook inside with relative comfort.

Is your ride gay? Subarus are for Lesbians

Article in the Atlantic how Subaru marketed to teh ghey:

Quote:For its first Subaru ads, Mulryan/Nash hired women to portray lesbian couples. But the ads didn’t get good reactions from lesbian audiences. What worked were winks and nudges. One campaign showed Subaru cars that had license plates that said “Xena LVR” (a reference to Xena: Warrior Princess, a TV show whose female protagonists seemed to be lovers) or “P-TOWN” (a moniker for Provincetown, Massachusetts, a popular LGBT vacation spot). Many ads had taglines with double meanings. “Get Out. And Stay Out” could refer to exploring the outdoors in a Subaru—or coming out as gay. “It's Not a Choice. It's the Way We're Built” could refer to all Subarus coming with all-wheel-drive—or LGBT identity. “Each year we've done this, we've learned more about our target audience,” John Nash, the creative director of the ad agency told the website AdRespect. “We've found that playful coding is really, really appreciated by our consumers. They like deciphering it.”

http://www.theatlantic.com/business/arch...ans/488042

Does this apply to all their cars or just the obviously lesbo Forester?

And Umm....El mech don't you drive a WRX? Laugh

The Japanese make some good looking vehicles too. New Zealand looks like they have some pimped out Toyota Hiace minivans, shown below---

[Image: slammed-hiace-sdpcustom-slammed-vs-standard1.jpg]

This one looks like it would be popular in Latin America and the Caribbean as a commuter van (transit bus), albeit the risk of carjacking is high with these newer model vehicles---

What's your rating, ALPHA or BETA?
