Humans are far more complex and different than simple pack animals. There is something to be gathered on how "leaders of a group" attain and maintain themselves in a hierarchy no doubt, however it's so much more complicated than that. Overly focusing on this relatively minor tree in the forest detracts from the bigger picture.

You end up getting guys constantly doing mental masturbation about various letters of the Greek alphabet.

Stop doing this and focus on your lifestyle to make yourself attractive to members of the opposite sex. Learn game and be assertive so you don't let people plow over you.

And finally understand how women flock to the leader of a particular situation. In crossfit, the "alpha" is the instructor, in government the Alpha is the president, in finance circles it's the CEO/managing director, in music it's the principal chair, etc.

Sure there's crossover appeal, but in certain instances it is minimized or even negligible. The only people who complain about betas getting hot women are in fact not getting laid themselves. Envy is a poison, focus on yourself and not others.

Because there is no need for a strong provider any longer, women tend to take more soft and beta men. I think this hits close to the truth.

I think they're just kind of "historical terms", they really have very little to do with evolutionary psychology or group social dynamics at this point.

The way I interpret them is that an "Alpha" is a man who attempts to frame interactions with women, at least to as great an extent as possible, on his own terms. A "Beta" believes that the best way to successfully interact with women is to identify more with their characteristics, and try to adapt his nature to what they say they want.

That's a good question. I remember back in 2011 stumbling upon "paid" game advice and saw the terms there about "alpha" males and the like. I have no idea where it came from and I think it's a hold over from the old PUA days.

Frankly I hate the terms and any time I hear or see a guy talking in person about it I cringe.

You want a good example of what a beta male looks like? It's someone who talks about betas, alphas, and sigmas and attempts to place people into those boxes.

Christ this is so true. This is also what contributes to the false rape epidemic. Women want to be desired so badly that they would rather have people think someone raped them or settle for someone with an SMV significantly lower than theirs instead of working to make themselves better in order to obtain a high SMV alpha. But I suppose it's analogous to men as well. Many men choose to wallow in self pity rather than improving themselves.

That was my take more or less.

"Attractive" girls who have looks but no other redeeming qualities, life skills, ambitions, etc either have to settle for:

Being trophy wife to a beta provider or sugar daddy or:

Being a booty call to alphas

Hence if it's a choice between having to actually go to college, or get real skills and be a 'strong independent woman', many will settle with marrying a beta provider due to a lack of other options (though will likely cheat with an alpha if they get the chance)

"Attractive" girls are a dime a dozen - in fact the standards have dropped due to the rise in obesity, to the point that any girl who is "skinny" automatically looks "hot" just because she isn't overweight

Conventional wisdom says you're 100% right. Things seem to be changing in today's job market and society at large due to the feminist influence on education, laws, and culture. There is no shame whatsoever in a bimbo holding a job far beyond her ability that she got mainly because of sexual nepotism--and by this I don't necessarily mean she's sleeping with her boss (although this definitely happens). It's more like, you aren't allowed to criticize a woman at work ever, and so the bimbos can ply their trade with impunity.
