So the Gov of Alabama is in some heat for having an affair with one of his advisors. I only heard the juicy part while watching the news. But I guess it is what a creepy old man sounds like.

He says he won't resign. A couple of screenshots (from the tv).








Below is a brief quote of an article to give some background info. This article came out BEFORE this most recent tape (the second one) which is posted above.

However, he denied it went any further than those remarks, including a physical relationship.

“At times in the past, have I said things that I should not have said?” Bentley said. “Absolutely, that’s what I’m saying today.”

Bentley’s remarks at that press conference confirmed what had long been rumored in Montgomery going back over the last two years, which was a romantic relationship between Bentley and Mason. The rumor mill heated up last August after Dianne Bentley filed for divorce after their marriage of 50 years. Their settlement of their divorce included $750 in monthly alimony, reimbursement of $20,000 in legal fees, a one-time payment of $92,000 and a beach home for Dianne Bentley.

It was the state’s now-former top law enforcement official Spencer Collier that brought it back to the forefront. Collier had revealed evidence of the affair in press conference just hours before Gov. Bentley took to his press conference to acknowledge the misdeed. Collier had laid out proof of the relationship between Bentley and Mason, which Collier claimed had allegedly gone back to 2014.

Please don't use that word samsamsam. And while we're at it, there is nothing "sad" about whatever intimacies were exchanged between the governor and his (30 years younger) paramour.

Bentley may be an old fool to fall hard for this lady, make her his chief advisor and confidante, and throw away his lifelong marriage; but the same has happened to many men in his position. It's an old story and there is little to say about it.

I don't even know why this shit matters - the man is a governor, not a pope.

So weird that people make such a big deal about sex when most of are doing it (or want to lol).

Being involved in politics shouldn't give the public the idea they have free reign to snoop into your sex life - what does getting your dick wet have to do with your job as a politician?

I agree with this, but can we in turn agree that the Governor is relying too much on fame game and ignoring easy improvements to his style.

That haircut? Maybe contacts instead of glasses? I bet he doesn't even lift.

FTR - I used to have that car. Guess I'm lucky I always wear a rebreather while I'm having sex in the backseat.

I agree with you 100% in principle. The big disconect I have however, is that politicians, by very nature of their job, especially at his level, have no problem putting their hands and heads into your (the private citizen) personal life, at any turn. Tell me I can not smoke a joint in my house after a long day? I can not buy a beer after a certain time at night? Then, on top of that, you find out that they do not hold themselves to the standard of law everyone else is held to...I see no problem utterly humiliating them right before kicking them out of 'work'.

It opens the doors up to blackmail. Theoretically a politician is supposed to have the public's best interest in mind. When politician who runs issues of morality gets caught in something socially condemnable as adultery they open themselves up to private influence that goes against the public interest.

Unless they stand by their actions. Sure, adultery is a tricky one because it's as if you were caught lying and that will always be a weak position to be in, but in general, politicians come out and apologize way too much. I think this is a reason why Trump is doing very well in the States now. He's said a lot of stuff that's way out there, but as far as I know, he's never taken a step back and apologized. Instead he seems to be very good at saying something mildly outrageous in order to get the media talking about him, only to move the conversation onto what he wants to talk about when confronted.

On the subject of wealth, you can really see the contrast between how Trump plays it vs. how Romney played it. When accused of being "too rich" and "out of touch", Romney appeared apologetic by saying "Oh come on guys, I'm really not THAT rich, I'm pretty much just like you... sort of." Trump, on the other hand, acknowledges it and says, "Yeah, I'm rich, I'm great, I made a fortune. Now I can do the same for your country."

You can't sell anything by apologizing because by definition, you're saying that you failed. Nobody wants to buy from someone who admits they failed.

Never gets old... Man spends 5+ years at University and 20 years in politics to see it thrown away cause he acted like a man and was hitting on a woman!

Well it happened in New Jersey, they must have been just breathing the air

But really, I know where this happened. And my theory is there was a leak in the exhaust no one noticed, since most the time when in a car, you're driving. Since they were parked in one spot banging, the leak caught up to them and they were done. Lesson Learned: Update your Car Inspection.
