Made a day approach in a book store and got a number. Texted her and got a response saying there's already someone in her life, but she would like to set up a date with me for her dear friend.

How to proceed? No go before photos? Take a leap of faith? Laugh and brush it off?

I'm inclined to meet her just to see how it plays out - never have I even heard of a situation as funny as this.

Agree. Day of date ask her for a description of the girl in question. Walk in and if that girl is attractive proceed as it'll be like shooting fish in a barrel with that social proof.

If she's ugly hit on other girls at the venue or dip out and go about your day. Make sure the suggested date spot is in such an area where you can dip out and do your business for that day immediately.

Had a buddy ask me to wingman once because some girl was bringing her friend. Girl #2 shows up and is a 4-5/10.

Blind date is unlikely to be as or more attractive than girl you first met. She wouldn't presume to find dates for a hotter friend. She'd just be jealous of the better looks.

The OP appears to have the phone number of the original girl - do you at least have the first name of the friend?

Maybe spend a bit of time data mining the usual social media suspects. 20 minutes of work might save you having to leave your house, or confirm that it's worth your while.

There are very few truly "blind dates" anymore, particularly when young women are involved. Guarantee there's something out there to dig up somewhere...

If you don't already have at least a name, however, then I think you're out of luck. I wouldn't ask for it at this point as it will be pretty clear what you're trying to do.

Kinda cool "shit test" though, if the friend turns out to be attractive as well. Seeing if you'll bail because you think original girl is gonna pass her uggo friends off on you. Going in guns blazing with no intel might be a DHV to original girl if that's ever required...

Got the name and number from the first girl, not enough data to do digging on social network as the name is rather common. Shot her a text last night, guess I just have to wait now. Thanks for the input, I'll keep you you posted.

Tell the girl setting up the date "okay, tell your friend I'll be wearing a blue shirt so she can recognize me."

Then, wear anything but a blue shirt to the date, so if she's an uggo, you go keep walking without being recognized.

I did this once...

The chick had a nice name and sounded good on the phone, in person, pleasant, interesting to talk to but a total turnoff. I wound up going out on a few dates with her out of guilt, the person that set it up was a good friend of mine. My birthday comes around and she offers to take me out and I agree, we go to a restaurant and she also arranges for a limo to pick us up after. I felt bad because I had absolutely no interest in this chick though she was very into me. If she were a hotter chick that would have been a memorable birthday for other reasons.

If a girl ever describes one of her friends as "really pretty" you can be 100 percent sure that said girl is butt fucking ugly. Every single time I've heard a group of girls talking about one of their friends and they use the word "pretty" that's exactly what it means. They know not to overshoot it and say "hot" because well, hot means hot. Pretty means whatever they want it to mean. When girls are talking about their friends who are indeed more attractive then they are, you'll generally hear something along the lines of "OMG, that betch! She's fucking sexy/hot!" It's entirely different than when they're trying to dump their excess weight on some poor unsuspecting shmuck (no pun intended).

However, I managed to secure a second date Tinder bang. Been on a dry spell for awhile, can't complain. Tallest girl I ever banged (I'm 190 she is 188). Pretty satisfying actually.
