Rupert Grint: "Ron Would Have Divorced Hermione By Now"
http://www.moviefone.com/2016/02/08/rupe...ne-by-now/

Quote:You never could trust that Ron Weasley to stick around. Harry Potter's best friend was known to get jealous and even walk out when the going got tough ... but then he did always come back in the end. J.K. Rowling's novels closed with Ron and Hermione Granger married with two kids, but actor Rupert Grint doesn't think they would still be together today.

While at Universal Orlando for the recent Harry Potter celebration, Grint and fellow castmates talked to Huffington Post about the future of their characters.

Here's the Ron section:

Huffington Post: If J.K. asked you where you'd like your character to be off to, what would you say? Swing for the fences, or go as crazy as you'd like with what you'd be doing in that universe.

Grint: [laughs] I would expect Ron has probably divorced Hermione already. I don't think that relationship would have done very well.

Evanna Lynch (Luna): What?!

Huffington Post: Like living in his own, low-rent bachelor pad?

Grint: Yeah. Exactly. He's living on his own, in a little one-bedroom apartment. He hasn't got a job.

Lynch: Don't say divorced. Say they've split up. They can reconcile.

Grint: Yeah, they're briefly separated.

Huffington Post: Ron is on Tinder doing horribly...

Grint: Yeah!

Matthew Lewis (Neville): Living in a one-bedroom studio apartment all alone, doing nothing. He lives in Kings Cross, right in that area.

That sounds really sad, but maybe it's not far off. You may recall when J.K. Rowling herself shared doubts about Ron and Hermione, telling Emma Watson for a Wonderand magazine interview that she "wrote the Hermione-Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment" and "in some ways Hermione and Harry are a better fit," and that "Hermione's always there for Harry."

However, Rowling was hopeful for Ron and Hermione's future, telling Watson, "Maybe she and Ron will be alright with a bit of counselling, you know. I wonder what happens at wizard marriage counselling? They'll probably be fine. He needs to work on his self-esteem issues and she needs to work on being a little less critical."

What do you think? Would Ron and Hermione still be together today? Hermione seems like she'd want to work on the marriage and wouldn't be the one to file for divorce first. But if Ron left, what would they both do? Harry seems to love Ginny, and they have kids too, so it's not so easy to say Harry and Hermione would just get together...

Can't believe I'm commenting on this, but Hermione was a full-on SJW in the books - even trying to free the House Elves (against their will). She'd be the same nightmare Emma Watson is today. Of course Ron would leave.

Sadly, I do.

But in my defense, a girlfriend enticed me to watch the HP movies by giving me blowjobs.

For a series written by a pagan single mom, HP is actually pretty good, with quirky characters that still manage to make sense or are relatable in some way

Harry Potter ended years ago. No more books will be written. The actor Robert Grint is a millionaire. Why is he trying to stay relevant in 2016?

We know Watson has been on the Cock Carousel for years now.

But I'm curious what sort of talent Grint is pulling with his fame and money.

I'm going to bet that there's not a single recognizable cast member that has a real problem getting laid. Plenty of young girls grew up watching that series and reading those books.

That's almost an unlimited pool of groupie aged millenial fangirls now.

That still sounds like a net loss.

"I can count on one hand, literally, the number of women I have ever met that can take that kind of advice, accept it and make use of it without their epic egos setting metaphorical fire to the conversation.

Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector.

I was a child when the books came out so of course I read them. I am not really surprised. I heard Rolling say that she never intended for them to be together. For Pete's sake Ron and Harry were mocking her in the first book for being a know it all.

Let this be a lesson for creative writers. Don't listen to tumblr shippers. It's your own work.

I wish I had gotten that deal to read the Hunger Games when I was with my last Girlfirend.

RE: Rupert Grint: "Ron Would Have Divorced Hermione By Now"
I happen to like the Harry Potter books. It's a solid story with excellent, well-balanced characters, and as a fiction writer and someone who studies the craft of storytelling generally I appreciate that. Sure, there are a fair few holes and some in-book retconning in the last few books but they're made for young adults, so that's forgivable.

Rowling has been really big on retconning in the last few years. She's said all kinds of shit that isn't even hinted at in the books, and in some cases things that contradict her books. The Hermoine-Ron pairing was obviously set up by book 4, and at no point did I ever think Hermoine and Harry were going to get together. Harry was obviously destined for Ginny, again set up by book 5. She was setting that up from jump street anyway, come on. So she can fuck off with the claim that she never meant for Hermoine and Ron to get together.

Also, movie Ron was (from what I've read, I never saw the movies after the first two) kind of fucked over compared to book Ron. Hermoine got tons of Ron's best moments in the movies because grrl power and left him looking like a useless douche. So you have to look at the movies and books as separate stories, from a character standpoint. What Rupert Grint has to say about dumbass movie-Ron might be true, but you can't apply that to the book version of the character.

Its been a decade since I've read the books, but Harry and Hermoine probably would have got along better. Hermoine was constantly shitting on Ron and seemed to back Harry unquestionably. But who cares? Ron was more of a dunce character, especially in the films.

Well, in the books it was more portrayed as a phase she went through that most of the other students didn't take seriously....and something of a value clash between her upbringing and "wizard society".

Oh, will you guys get over yourself already. No one's going to think you're less dark triad alpha because you read a popular young adult novel when you were 11 years old.

He starred in a song video where he impersonates Ed Sheeran and could possibly pull off the act if he were to come across enough idiots in one setting.

I don't follow his life but a lot of girls wanted his dick and babies at the time and still do. Ed Sheeran was a bum on the streets busking away before he found fame now all of a sudden every girl and her idiot friends want ginger kids.
