The whole paragraph is interesting, in particular the bold part.
I think I actually read about it a few times already, maybe in The Economist or something, but I had no idea it was so noticeable in daily life on the ground. Portugal doesn't get a lot of media coverage even in Europe.
Is it really that bad?
Maybe you can elaborate a bit on that, would be nice to hear more about it.

Hi there. Haven't posted in a while. This is an old account that I had lost the password/email for and have finally miraculously remembered it. I've created a new account, but just before the whole meetup fiasco so it is yet to be activated...maybe never will!

ANYWAYS. I thought I would comment since I currently live in Berlin. In fact, my nearest metro stop is the one in that video that Parzival posted. I thought I would share my two cents.

While everything in Cologne happened I was out of the country for a few months, and to be honest I was scared shitless about what might start happening in Germany. I only consumed information here and from the news and it made me a bit on edge to say the least about going back to Berlin. Now I am back and have been for about a month.

I think that video, to be honest, makes things seems way worse than it is. There is crime in Berlin, but it is much, much safer than any major American city by a long shot. even fist fights are something I almost never see. petty crime like theft and so on ive heard of but never yet witnessed thank god. Don't get me wrong, I think this whole situation is absolutely insane, and needs to be stopped immediately, for a multitude of reasons. I think there is potential for something really bad and really crazy to happen, but its not quite there yet. I still feel very safe on the streets here, which might be part of the problem, and why most people are still oblivious.

Perhaps my experience is different to Parzival, but I've been living in a Turkish neighbourhood for about three years, and to be honest they are pretty cool people, and I dont think they can in any way be associated with the migrant crisis. turks are secular nationalists, and while some are religious and conservative, there are also a lot of them, including lots of girls, that wear lots of makeup, tight clothes, drink alcohol etc etc etc. It may be tempting to think that literally every muslim in this country is a rapist in sheeps clothing, but I just dont think thats the reality. at least not for the turkish population in germany. In this case I feel quite sorry for the turks, because if things do get crazy and out of hand, they will be associated with it and suffer the consequences.

But on the German side, there are still defenders of helping the refugees, but even amongst the hipster populace that is all of berlin, i think opinion has mostly turned against it already. another major event like cologne would have massive consequences. Germany is already totally isolated on this issue now, with even the french guys (vallis?) speaking against them, they are literally surrounded on all sides by border checks now. the schengen could already be finished by this summer, and this is a good thing. who in their right mind would prefer this chaos to having to wait 20 minutes at a border while they check your passport? The good thing is, although the germans have completely lost their balls and ability to speak up for themselves, with the rest of the countries in europe shutting their borders, that hard task might just be done FOR them, with Merkel dragged kicking and screaming all the way.

have to say though, isn't insane the way they are treating the greeks? no money for them, but 21 billion in one year for people who decide to just strut on over the border. and now they have the gall to try and force the greeks to seal the border or isolate them outside the schengen. who needs friends like that? some "union".

I was at the gun show in Dulles yesterday. The girl who works at the stand where I buy bulk ammo was talking to a customer about what happened in Germany on New Year's Eve. She was expressing outrage over German women being told to change their attire and behavior to make the invaders behave better. First time I've overheard the subject being discussed in public.

Anyone seeing people sharing those links leftists are sharing that only 3 of the 58 arrested at Cologne were "refugees" and blaming ethnic germans for it...fuck's sake....don't they realize the North Africans/Afghans/etc also count as those who came to Germany as "refugees" ?

Anyways, here are the last 5 pages of Geert Wilders' book. I finished today while on Polski Bus ride to Sopot. Good read about combatting islamization. So I'll share with you guys.

I'm from Bavaria, I love those reports about Berlin. They give me a thrill. There is a cultural difference between Bavaria and Berlin. For me such a situation, even if it less worse then the report is strange.
As I said a few times before the situation in Germany is less worse then it sounds here sometimes. But what someone from Berlin or Cologne consider normal is extreme different to the reality someone in Munich or Stuttgart has with immigration. When your reality because mine, then shit get real for the people in the south. Anyway I agree the change of the mood is not good for the legal and integrated immigrants. Some of my friends worry as well. Also many of those immigrants also have no positive opinion about all those refugees.

The distribution of migrants is still too uneven and low-volume to have affected more than 10% of the German population at this point.

But do not fear. You'll be tripling the amount of migrants you currently have this year, so there is plenty of hope left for enrichment.

Don't forget, they pay Turkey 6 billions to protect borders where Germany say, they can not protect their own borders.
Then all those refugees will be a benefit in the long run because of the over ageing society but we are unable to take people from Spain, Italy and Greece with a 50 % unemployment rate with people below 25?

Ahah, Celtic, in the good portuguese way, Rocha took some truth and exaggerated it a bit. I mean, it's true that there is Angolan influence here in certain aspects, however to say we are ruled by Angolan blood money would be an exaggeration. Influenced sometimes, yes. But the portuguese and angolan government DO NOT have much of an amicable relation if I might say. The EU however holds huge influence. The European Parliamentary groups are like "transnational" party companies and they pressure the parties from the smaller/less important countries in order to pass certain ideological goals. The EU and the "multinational" parties in the European Parliament are a much higher danger for Portugal than Angola ever was or will be. Now with the reducing oil prices the Angolan regime was already sweating because they didn't have money to pay for some basic responsibilities towards the population.. Though, of course, there's always money, diamonds and mansions to the political elite and the army general zombies. Angola is a paper tiger, one day it will fall on itself, again, and the fight will be much more gruesome than what happened before.

Sure.

For the ones not so familiar with both of these countries, Angola was a Portuguese colony until 1976, after 15 years of a bloody independence war fought between three sides, the Portuguese army, the MPLA (supported by the Soviet Union and Cuba) and UNITA (supported by USA). The common enemy of the last two was the Portuguese army, yet sometimes they fought each other.
After the Carnation revolution in Lisbon in 1974, and the disastrous decolonization process between 74-76, where many people where abandoned at their luck at the hands of these military organizations, both the natives who fought for the Portuguese (where slaugtered after our army left), and the many europeans left for dead by the leftwing new authorities (many found ways to return, or escape to South Africa). A more bloody civil war ensued until 2002 when MPLA finally defeated UNITA, so this means 50 years of continuous war, where a ruthless elite of Warlords holds the power and fortune of probably Africa's wealthiest nation.
Angola has everything and in big proportions, oil, diamonds, iron, copper, gold, silver, platinum, uranium, rich soils and weather for agriculture and a long coast line. The oil deposits of Cabinda are enough to grant the subsistence of that country.

-During the conflict years many angolans (and from other former Portuguese colonies) came to settle in Portugal, with more or less success, but at least the first wave of migration was made of people really running from a bloody war, and where mostly honest and hard working, values that many times they failed to pass to the new generations that mostly grew up in ghetto style neighbourhoods, still many are well done citizens with families and careers.-

In 2003, the debt to Portugal State and companies of the Angolan government was 2 billion dollars, wich was forgiven (the debt now is again on the 1.5 billion dollar), yet the elite started to invest here, mainly trough the figurehead of Isabel dos Santos, the richest woman in all african continent, and who happens to be the daughter of MPLA leader, Jos茅 Eduardo dos Santos. They started by the communications, holding a monopoly position in the market wich latter spread to the media. Taking advantage of the 2008 financial crisis and mismanagement of many Banking insitutions, now they hold a strong grip in the financial system, beeing majority shareholder in three important institutions (BPI, BIC and BPN), all of this with conivence of the Portuguese Central Bank. This influence is spreading out now to the energy sector, beeing already part of the administration council of Galp Energia, the former state owned refinery, now its heir and leader in the oil and gas markets. All the while, some small Portuguese companies still struggle to get paid by the Angolan state, and nowadays, many of my generation who emigrated there after the 2008 crash (early 30s) are unable to send money back home, it is almost impossible for Portuguese people to trade local currency for dollars.

Back to Portugal, after the thraumatic colonial war and the end of the 50 year old dictatorship in 1974, the EU admission in 1986 was felt with great hope and anxiety in a better future, the EU money was coming in the form of subsidies, roads and much needed infrastructure was built (Portugal is the country with more highway for sq. Km), the world expo 1998 and even the football eurocup in 2004 is a remnant of this era, but everything has a price, and the industries where shut down, and the agricultures and fishermen received money to stay at home not producing. This looked like a fairytale. It was not.
I think it started by 2002, the year when the local currency, the traditionally strong and stable escudo was substituted for the euro, from one day to another the purchasing power seemed to drop to half.
Years on, and corruption scandal by corruption scandal and yet no one ended in jail, failed governments, no jobs, no career and salaries progression, brain leakage to other parts of the world, this started to take its toll on the civil society, and we are becoming each day a more amorphed people and brainwashed, whose youngsters life is just eating, sleeping, watching football, drinking, pot smoking, and pray to god that the current gf do not leave them...

-Long gone are the days that as a whole nation circa 1998-1999, everyone stood up and protested everywhere possibly for the freedom of East-Timor people, that when things got ugly there, the Portuguese army (along with the australians, wich completed the INTERFET force) acting on the other side of the world was the first to act to protect that people from the brutality that was going on (mind that Portugal is a small state and insignificant inside NATO structure).-

So, what we see nowadays is a young generation whithout identity, despising its native culture, and buying into all that is fed upon them, in a multiracial environment, with a Angolan lead media conglomerate.

Of course there is still a lot of old money in Portugal, but try going out in Lisbon and mainly you will see angolans flashing money in expensive champagne bottles in VIP areas and shopping in Michael Kors and Louis Vuitton...We are now their vassals.

This, this, this. This so much.

Everytime they try to paint the migrant invasion as a good thing, because it saves the pension system, corrects the low birthrate and rejuvenates society, jump-starts the economy and provides the industry with so direly needed workers and future highly qualified professionals, someone should point this out.
(Even without that, all of those justifications are massive bullshit.)

If it really was about the pension system and a lack of workers, there's millions and millions of white, Christian, often university educated (and with actually comparable standards too) EU citizens who would do anything for a job, people that wouldn't require a thousand government programs and a fortune of taxpayers' money because hopefully, some day in the far future, there maybe might even be a chance of their grandchildren being perhaps somewhat integrated.

The situation in Southern Europe is so grim, I get numerous educated people from there, who I basically don't know and just met during the past few years while traveling here and there, reaching out to me about whether I know someone or some place in my country that could have a job they could apply for.

Saying that everytime I hear that retarded, dishonest argument I get angry as fuck would be an understatement.

I chime in,two years ago I noticed an overflow of a new school of spanish emigrate workers around europe as their economy was already tanking
What possible reaosn could the the EU or rather the german head of state have to issue a need for in migrants of a a culture so different that there is basically almost no common ground -cept that of war, certainly not the best base materials to construct something with- when there are plenty of cheap qulaified spaniards poles and tscechs with weaker econonomical backgrounds who can easily and cheaply cover these positions that are so lacking:
Isnt there another more obscure reason then?

And take for example countries like Germany or Denmark whereas most of its 20+ population is engage din some sort of universitarian compromise,4 to 6 years from now when their careers are completed what use will they have for their fnacy papers,or rather, what use will society have for them?

http://christophercantwell.com/2016/02/1...communism/

This one is for the ones here that constantly denigrate libertarians for their supposed "open borders" policy (as if it is the only possible case). As a libertarian I was always bashed for views I did not even hold, based on assumptions of people that haven't read half a book on libertarianism.

"For the libertarian then, it is quite imperative from a strategic standpoint to take into consideration who he is making neighbors of. If one finds himself quite frustrated trying to convince white westerners of his politics, he will find this even more difficult to do when Islamists are chopping off heads and raping women in his neighborhood. He will have quite the difficult time explaining Austrian economics to someone who does not even speak his language.

Denial of these obvious realities is the cornerstone of communist nonsense. The belief that all people are equal and interchangeable, that we are all liquids taking the shape of the container into which we are poured, is not based in reality, and it is certainly not based in libertarianism. It is dogmatic liberal gibberish spouted only by power hungry politicians, and their supporters who are dumb enough to believe it."

That's all well and good but two of the most popular libertarian bloggers (Caplan and Cowen) and the most popular libertarian think thank (Cato) are pushing hard and are very pro-open borders. Now, most of the comments at their blogs on topics related to open borders are very anti-, but if libertarians don't want to be associated with this insanity, they need to clearly denounce the morons.

How hard is it to google something like this and notice that there is NO fixed position on this matter? Probably faster than accusing people of something you just ASSUME they defend even though they've stated no such thing. I have said many times, I am in NO WAY against immigration, but let's not be retarded too. Personally, in a statist context I advocate middle-ground, in a stateless context I'd lean towards the Hoppean views of letting the proprietor decide who comes in his "borders".
