Going to Iceland next month for 4 days (Thursday-Sunday). Can anyone who has been to Reykjavik help me with the logistics of the trip? What area of Reykjavik should I be staying in that would be the most convenient for nightlife? I will rent a car from the airport and use it for the 4 day trip because I was told it would be easier to use to travel to different activities in Iceland

Reykjavik only has ~120K people and thus the city is quite concentrated. The main street is Bankstraeti, which turns into Austurstraeti and stems from Laugavegur (it's all the same street renamed every few blocks). The two main bars, which are the bars I was at 99% of the time and definitely the first 2 places you should check out, are B5 and Austur. They are literally 2 blocks from each other on the above mentioned street. I stayed at Loft Hostel, which is right next to B5 on Bankstraeti and Ingolffstraeti. Very nice hostel but wouldn't recommended unless you get a private room.

I attached a map I quickly annotated. It might be difficult to find an Airbnb/apartment in those arrowed areas, but the closer to there the better.

^Everything is close enough that you can be several blocks away from the above marked areas and still be logistically fine. But what I arrowed out is the epicenter of the nightlife.

What is your budget for nightly accommodations? There is truth to losing an opportunity because you are staying too far away. Do NOT let that happen to you. I have done extensive research via air bnb and TripAdvisor as far as locations. Another tip, stop by the duty free at Keflavik airport and stock up on booze. It's expensive there. Plus you need booze for after parties which is quite common, and a great way to score a flag.
You are allowed 24 beers or 1 bottle and 12 beers. Enjoy...Iceland is fucking epic!

Im going with 4 other people. I'm guessing our budget is going to be around $150-200 per night in accommodations. I'm hoping to get an AirBnB.
