In an interview with the website Fight Hype, Mayweather said he believes "racism still exists in the sport of boxing," while also bringing UFC stars McGregor and Ronda Rousey into the conversation.

Mayweather wondered why he is questioned about his behavior and McGregor isn't.

"And what's so crazy, I don't really know the McGregor guy; never seen him fight," Mayweather said. "I heard his name actually from one of the runners that works for our company. ... He told me about the guy McGregor. They say he talk a lot of trash and people praise him for it, but when I did it, they say I'm cocky and arrogant. So biased! Like I said before, all I'm saying is this, I ain't racist at all, but I'm telling you racism still exists."

In addressing Mayweather, McGregor said, "Do not ever put me in a bracket like this again."

He also challenged Mayweather to a bout, saying, "I will give you a fair 80/20 split purse in my favour seen as your last fight bombed at every area of revenue."

Exactly how I would have handled it. This fits into what I've been saying on this forum and in real life: Millennials who are white and on their game absolutely don't give a fuck about the word "racist". We know it's bullshit meant to take stuff from us without our competitors having to fight fairly.

I actually kind of liked Mayweather too.

I'm not a big boxing fan, but just because everyone hated him, I liked him as an anti-hero who looked out for his self and understood the game.

But whenever a non-white cries racism, I instantly lose all respect.

Let's be real, he's attacking Floyd Mayweather, who will forever be Public Enemy #1. McGregor could've beat up one of his kids and he'd get applause. They are both right, and McGregor took that way to personal. Floyd wasn't even speaking negative on him, he was talking about the public's reaction to his antics. Strikes me as an overreaction.

So basically Mayweather points out the obvious "no one likes a mouthy black athlete" . To which McCregor responds about the Irish being oppressed, which has nothing to do with what Mayweather was talking about or race. To which a thread is created "McCregor Destroys Mayweather", wait what?
He didn't destroy anything, he changed the subject to him and then played the Irish victim card.

You probably don't understand racism because you have never been through it. Do you think racism is just some conspiracy theory? Racism is very real and it happens all the time.

It does not take a genius to see that racism is out there but you are in a position of strength so it probably wouldn't matter to you if people from another race are in disadvantage.

If you think your social system is fair and gives opportunity on equal levels to people from different races, you are being delusional.

In the U.S. people only cry racism when it's their race being directly effected by some comment or incident. People play games with this all the time but don't really care about anyone else aside from their little tribe.

Mayweather claiming he was never racist is hilarious. Dude did everything except burn a cross in front of Pacquiao's lawn when he was marketing his fight with him.

This is why it makes me chuckle when people say boxing is dead. Here's the UFC's greatest superstar at the moment, and the best way for him to raise his profile is to take a shot at a boxer. I don't believe this is 'alpha', whatever that is - it's a guy talking tough but acting like a girl.

I don't feel the hype around McGregor - he is a good athlete and a competent fighter, but put him in the octagon with Uncle Roger and take away the referee - McGregor isn't walking out alive.

He didn't shrug off the race card, he played the same card(agree and amplify). He said his race has been oppressed too which is not the same thing as saying he doesn't care that other races have been oppressed. Since you missed it here it is again:

Many blacks treated me like shit because I was white, including a black boss, who would treat blacks great.

White people are increasingly a minority in many places in the USA and many whites in majority black schools are treated like shit.

I don't whine about it like non-whites do and the only reason I bring it up now is because you said, without ever knowing me, that I, "have never experienced racism".
