I don't think people have to worry about most african-american muslim converts radicalizing anyways. That's a bit too sensationalist and extreme to consider.

You might have a few headcases here and there but I seriously doubt most would enjoy going from fighting "the Man" in one country to taking directions from other authority figures coming from the middle east in the form of fat arab pederast imams.

That's why islamists in southeast asia don't radicalize further other than a few hot spots. The cultural barrier is still significant and the poison of arab muslim influence is limited to a few areas.

The media uses the term "radicalized" to displace blame for Islam and muslims. It's the new version of calling someone a victim to absolve sins.

1st question) Both.

2nd) Yea, if you're trained, you can hit your target pretty easily I imagine. FBI people have a great reputation for accuracy, but I imgaine it takes lots of training. Edit: Didn't see the hit ratio was for police. I don't know this for a fact, but I think the FBI has a way higher hit ratio. Field agents in the FBI have to be much more accurate than the average cop.


I have a handgun, but I can hardly hit a target that's ten feet away.

That's what surprised me when I got my gun, how hard it is to actually hit what you are trying to hit.

Another thing that surprised me, but shouldn't have, was the loudness of it.


Handguns are great defensive weapons in that sense. Even if you miss, it would take tremendous courage for an attacker to keep coming at you even after you start shooting.


To move TOWARD the sound of gunfire, takes a lot more courage than people realize.

Props to any people in the armed forces who have moved toward the sound of gunfire, or any people in the police.

The police and armed forces in the US don't get the credit they deserve...

Especially if they live in big cities.

It's pretty natural to have shaky aim when you're in that flight or fight response.

I can only reliably hit a dinner plate (offhand, I don't take my time) with my Glock 17 at 25 feet and that's under no duress.

As far as firearms go, a handgun is a compromise.

People do miss a lot with handguns. Much more difficult to aim than longer barreled guns like shotguns, rifles, etc.

Again with more experience with shooting your accuracy can be much higher than 10%. You can try to simulate fight or flight. Can do this by moving a target in the range backward and/or forward when you shoot at it. Do something physically tiring before you aim so your heart rate goes up and you have to focus harder. Hunting game with pistols will probably help the most.

Plus there are techniques go help improve accuracy in those situations. I think the best is holding your breath while aiming and until your fire. Helps control the bouncing and shaking while aiming.

In the end am I surprised a guy that has probably never fired a gun missed 10/13 rapid fire shots?

To train better with a pistol, just run a half mile then try to aim properly. It can be done, but requires experience under those conditions. The weapon you have is only as good as the operator's ability to work it.

First time I tried shooting I rented a Glock 17 and an AR15. Could hit a silver dollar 8/10 times at 75 feet with the long gun. I couldn't hit the target's head at 7 feet with the handgun.

You forgot to add that the shooter was the worst shot ever. Fired 13 times with his arm inside the car window. Hit 3 times, all of which were not fatal. What is this guy a stormtrooper or something?

Actually, I rather disagree with some members on this thread who say that it's quite normal for badly-trained people to miss 10 bullets out of 13 at such very close range... So, it leads me to agreeing with you, Dr. Howard: it was some Star Wars stuff right there! : we had Finn in his white uniform shooting at... an undercover Jedi cop , who used the force to dodge 10 bullets (getting 3 other bullets in his left arm, that he raised to project the Force). That or the cop was right out of the Matrix?

I was wondering about the same thing. I don't know anything about guns, but I did play a lot of State of Decay and distinctly remember the Glock 17 being the best handgun because of the huge magazine relative to weight and bullet rarity.
