So I was in Omaha NE and went to a sporting event at the arena with 17,000
plus spectators. I was walking around the hallways before the event looking at the vendor booths and even some people watching etc.. Right
before I go to take my seat an undercover cop flashes his badge says to
stand to the side.
He asked me a bunch of questions and probably ran me for warrants etc. He
said someone claimed I was following them. A few minutes later the head of
arena security comes and tells me they checked the cameras and they don't
see anything and that some girl thought I was following her because she
saw me 3 times. He said it was a high strung girl. He apologized and
both cops shook my hand and let me enjoy the event. They said they have to
go through these motions for all complaints.

The sad part is I had to justify why I was there and show them my tickets and travel plans in the area. It was annoying and a bit stressful.

Bogus Stalking Claim


I tried to get the name of the accuser, but could not. The police dept wouldn't give me the name of the caller. I really wanted to consider a defamation suit for this. She can just call security and the cops because she randomly feels something without any real proof.

Kudos to you for DOCUMENTING the experience as best you could. When shit like this happens, get out that phone & start recording!

I love how the cop describes the girl as "high strung" - i.e., crazy, likely on drugs.

Sounds like these guys didn't believe her. They've probably dealt with their share of kooky women in their day.

And this is easy work for the security guys. They know you aren't a threat and would rather deal with something like this than something real. Plus, men love to be heroes.

Back in 2004, I got a "trespass warning" at John Carroll University in Ohio based on a woman's lie. Two security guys walked me to my car and told me that if I set foot on the campus again, I would be arrested.

An anonymous tip to the police doesn't qualify as defamation.

I understand that your experience was unpleasant. Trust me, I've been their, at the brunt end of false accusations that led to me detainment. It's a stressful situation and might remain on your mind for some time.

But you'll never see a day in course for a lawsuit in this situation. Just be glad the cop inconvenienced you no more than he needed to in order to do the job he's paid to do.

I hope you're able to put this behind you as soon as possible.

That's the thing, they can get away with being anonomyous. With a subpoena its possible to get a transcript of their call to police. But its a pain in the ass.

It just seems they can get someone questioned by police security if they want to without being accountable.

Sucks for you, but to be fair since you don't know the girl you don't know her history. She might have been stalked for awhile and it messed with her brain. My sister was stalked by her ex's friend, a really weird guy. He never got aggressive, just showed up where ever she was with a smile and a "hi, glad to see you".

I have seen many, many women with wild imaginations. The absolute bullshit they will come up with boggles the mind. They get a kick from dragging others into their delusion. Kind of a validation of how good they are at it.

Seriously? He has to tolerate possibly getting thrown in jail and his life ruined because some wimpy girl cant help making a false police report?

That sounds like an absolutely horrendous experience. What an animal that man was. I hope your sister is doing fine and she's on the path to emotional healing.

There should be consequences for neurotic people falsely accusing others. The public shouldn't have to bear the burden of their mental illness and if they refuse to get treated they should be fined for each false accusation.

I guarantee if there was consequences this bullshit creep/stalking hallucinating would stop real quick.

This is similar to the problem that some 911 dispatch offices have. Lunatics that call constantly and just jam up the lines and dispatchers time.

It seems Media and Police Departments are empowering people to call 911 when they feel paranoid. See something say something.

In a small town like Omaha NE if I go back there and ever get pulled over by cops or some other BS, they will start giving me a hard time over this BS. One reason to avoid small towns in America.
