Lemmy dead at 70
I know Lemmy was in a bad way in September, but I didn't expect this to happen.

Ultimate-Guitar.com Wrote:Motorhead frontman and rock god Lemmy Kilmister has passed away today. He was 70.

TV host Eddie Trunk shared the tragic news, tweeting: "Sorry to report that I have confirmed Lemmy has passed away just now at the age of 70. RIP to a true original icon of rock."

The band posted the following announcement: "There is no easy way to say this... our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer.

"Ace of Spades" and "Killed By Death" are mainstays on my workout playlist. This dude basically invented speed metal. Would Metallica exist without Lemmy?

RIP.

Yup, he was a hired hand early in Hawkwind's existence, but got kicked out because he was into speed/meth and the rest of the band was into psychedelia/LSD.

Drummer Phil Taylor also died on 11 November.

Motorhead never softened their tone in pursuit of commercial success. There were never as big as Def Leppard or Motley Crue. But I always called those bands "hard rock." Motorhead was heavy metal all the way.

And do you know what made hard rock and heavy metal of the 1980's so great? It was pure, unapologetic testosterone.

RE: Lemmy dead at 70
I´m very sad about the news. Big Motörhead fan. Was supposed to see them in february. Thankfully, I already had the chance to see them three times. Will be listening to some Motörhead records the next few days, LOUD!
Lemmy really lived the rock star lifestyle and apparently banged lots and lots of women. He stayed true to the rocker life til the end, though in his recent interviews he seemed kind of sick and frail. I read his autobiography "White Line Fever" a couple of years ago, it was definitely a good and fun read. Motörhead was definitely a very influential group and influenced many later Metal and Rock bands.

RIP Lemmy !

RIP Lemmy. One of the all-time greats. There will never be another one who will truly embody the rock 'n roll lifestyle as well as he did. Glad I got to see them live a few times. Gonna blast Hawkwind and Motörhead all day at max volume!

Didn't he have one of the highest notch counts in world history? I'm pretty surprised the seventeen posts before mine completely ignored that.

Sad. I guess we are so used to celebrities that we have the feeling they will live forever. First Weiland, then Lemmy - not a good year for rock.

The guy lived an incredible life and didn't hold back. Gotta read his memoir some time. I was at a Motörhead concert once, in 1995, when I was 16. It was the loudest concert I have ever experienced in my life (and I have been to many). Oh, it was loud and brought the full power of rock with it. I had to wait for a couple of hours till my hearing came back completely.

Didn't know he was born in Stoke, like Slash. And didn't know he had a pacemaker implanted for two years.

R.I.P. Lemmy

Wouldn't surprise me if he was at least in the top 5.
Yet the irony is, when you have it thrown at you at that level because - rock star.
Do you really appreciate or care as much for it?
