I think the only way to truly honour LittleDark would be to rename the awards in his name - The LittleDark Awards.

There's a compromise in here somewhere.

I respectfully suggest that we continue to announce annually the winners of the Rooshies, awards given for greatness in conventional categories, like Wisest Forum Member and Rookie of the Year.

Then, to better expand the breadth of what this forum offers, we newly introduce a new category of awards, in honour of and to be voted for in preparation of Saint LittleDark Day and announced on the anniversary of the Legend's historic forum sign-up date.







This is the best of both worlds. We can have our traditional, everyday awards...and we can have a class of awards for forum members who have truly faced the darkness...and escaped to speak of it.

Alpha of the Year: Donald Trump, Viktor Orban, Vladimir Putin, or even: the Syrian president al-Assad (for surviving ISIS and other powerful foes, always remaining calm and composed, not fleeing his country in the Spring when it seemed that all was lost for him - and when some heads of State were offering him a golden asylum abroad: like a true Alpha, al-Assad didn't flee, and now looks to be on the verge of victory)

Beta of the Year: if Jeb enters the competition, there's no competition anymore. Even though, in truth, friendly-looking Jeb just got unlucky: being pitted against super-Alpha Trump, was bad luck indeed. He would look less beta against a lesser opponent... wouldn't he?

I think we should streamline this a bit. It's getting long winded and voting on stuff outside of the forum is fun but irrelevant. If we keep it to RVF related things, hopefully it will get more people voting.

I noticed that because of the worrying state of the world, most posters are active on serious (the D. Trump thread), sometimes even "dark", ominous threads (like the Migrants one), and less on light-hearted, good-humored threads like this one.

Not only on this forum, actually. The mood around the world has darkened in 2016, don't you think? Millions of illegal migrants running amok, terrorist attacks in many countries, civilian or military planes downed, wars in or around Syria, Putin and Erdogan almost at war, currencies collapsing (the euro, the yen, the real), SJWs getting crazier and using more and more physical violence (mob violence): have we just entered a dark age?

I was just about to give that a nomination alongside the Migrant Invasion of Europe, World Tour and Donald Trump threads. Tag the Sponsor was unbelievably eye-opening (I believe one poster called it the "crimson pill"), and a number of posts in there are Hall of Fame-quality examinations of modern women and society. Really hard to choose from out of those four...it's been an enlightening year to say the least.
