The Miss Universe contest name remains silly I think. Miss World and Miss Earth contests already exist, so I guess the only other alternate name for Miss Universe would be Miss Planet. That's 64 years now and every Miss Universe winner has been from Earth. Many countries were also not represented, only 80 contestants this year.

Yeah, I've seen it a couple of times around the Fort. The guys are generally Eurasian or more Spanish looking, taller, and seem like they have some cash.

Anyhow, yeah, you do see it, but it's a lot rarer than the opposite. That seems to hold true for most Asian countries, though.

I much prefer Miss Philippines and am glad it was only a mistake.

That said, how dumb and careless do you have to be to confuse these two? It's not like two similar countries (Austria and Australia or India and Indonesia), which would be somewhat excusable.

They probably are but from what I've noticed within the small percentage of Asian Dads/White Moms is that the Filipino guys clean it up the most in that category. I'm guessing due to both the darker skin and the Philippines being a relatively masculine, patriarchal country. I met one such couple last year and the dad was a military guy who was short but jacked and ran marathons (his wife was pretty hot too).

If anything, the conspiracy would be either:

1 - Trump paid off Harvey to bomb and all the headlines would show the train wreck of a pagaent it has become. Trump could capitalise on this.

Or

2 - People against trump arranged to throw the pageant just to get some extra talking points where they can refer back to trump's previous involvement. A venture that is arguably tacky and not very presidential.

But I think it was a genuine mistake. Not that the "runner up" notation is THAT confusing, but it is decidedly less clear than 1st, 2nd, 3rd. 2nd runner up is 3rd and 1st runner up is 2nd? That's just stupid.
Keep in mind he is the host of family feud, and is probably very used to the numbers 1st, 2nd and 3rd actually meaning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd on his cue cards...

Look at it this way - no one was paying attention to the Miss Universe pageant until this snafu. Why wouldn't they bring him back a few weeks before the event next year - apologize, make a joke, and help drum up viewership. Sounds like an honest mistake to me, no conspiracy.

Honest mistake. Probably. But definitely stupid mistake.

However, he could have handled it better. Sure, he did fess up at the end before walking off stage. But, would have been better for him to explain exactly what happened at the beginning, and maybe even go up to that hot Colombiana and look her in the face and apologize.

As of this morning, Miss Germany is say no one voted for the Miss Philippines and that Miss Colombia should've won.

Miss Germany's comments aren't really a useful datapoint. She would have no idea who "should have won". Who the contestants themselves voted for doesn't reflect what the outcome will be. She's talking about who the other girls wanted to win. There's no reason to think there's a conspiracy at the moment.
