Quote:Do you older gents regret pursuing other interests instead of being a proponent to unite your fellow brothers such as Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X or Martin Luther King?
That is a noble endeavor without doubt but the world is not what it used to be. Right after the end World War II the world was in still in turmoil like a highly impressionable 15 tear old with an identity crisis. As a result, in the 50's, 60's and 70's ... movements, rebellions, radical ideas, grassroots ideologies etc ... were much easier to start and more likely to take off than now. We currently live in a highly globalized, inter-connnected and despite what many like to believe, highly stable world. Nation changing or building is a thousand times harder and in my opinion not worth the effort.
Quote:As a younger male I increasingly feel a guilt as I prepare to leave and explore other countries, there is a deep feeling that I am committing treason, against my fellow dark sinned brothers.
It is natural to feel that way. But the only way you can help others is by becoming a champion yourself. One of the nurses who works for my father went to school in Virginia but moved back home because he wanted to "help his country and people". Guy was raised old school by feudal Ethiopian values.
Let's see ... a registered nurse in the US can easily hit 100k a year after 5-10 years of experience. Back home he makes exactly $5,000 a year. So 5% what he would make in the states. You can live an okay life with that salary back home. But extrapolating that income over years and years ... he fucked up big time.
On top of foregoing an immensely superior quality of life, he also threw away the opportunity to make it to the Ethiopian upper class. Even if he did not invest and create jobs ... him going back home twice a year and spending his US Dollars would have stimulated the economy more than his gay ass nursing job. Now some stupid country boy from the Southern Ethiopia who works at 7-11 in Canada comes back home and has higher social status than him. Kindness is a virtue but there is no room for self-sacrifice in the modern world.
Get rid of that guilt once and for all. Do what you gotta do.
Quote:Building an Empire here in my country, while I don't have the Capital but I sure will get there, I possess the know how, buttons to push culturally to get things in order and how to setup Joint ventures but is this cause really worth dedicating the vitality of my youth towards because building an empire is no easy task.
Only you can answer that question. Not everybody is cut out for business. I for one am not business savvy and would get eaten alive in direct competition back home.
But i can leverage my strengths and still become part of the upper/ruling/ elite class without taking unnecessary risks and engaging in activities i have no natural talent for. Earning 100-200 k in America is not too hard to pull and something i can do relatively easily without jumping into piranha infested business waters. You said you run an online business. Play to your strengths and maximize that potential.
Then move back home and carve out your own little paradise. The Empire builders and big dogs will be your neigbors. You'll dine at the same spots they do and fuck with the same bitches. Your kids will be friends at school. This way you avoid a lot of the hassle while cashing out on the best the"3rd world royalty lifestyle" has to offer.
Empires are hard to build. Much easier in the 3rd world but still hard. You can't build an Empire without conquering s small province first. That's what i love about Rudebwoy's Jamaican Restaurant. Simple yet brilliant idea. I have never seen a Jamaican restaurant outside of New York, Toronto, Florida or London.
Jamaica is unique in that it is not only a country ... but an international brand worth straight up paper. The Louis Vuitton of coolness. Despite being a tiny island with less than 3 million people ... I could walk through a rice field in rural Vietnam and ask a 12 year old if he's heard of Jamaica and he'll say yes. Some old lady in Ayia Napa, Cyprus who could not have been younger than 65 gave me a smile , thumbs up and screamed " Jamaiiiiicaaa!!" when she saw my necklace with the Ethiopian colors and Lion of Judah on it. No other 3rd world country except maybe Brazil sports such name recognition.
I'm sure a Jamaican restaurant will do well anywhere but will do particularly well in high consumption cultures like Japan, Korea Australia , Canada and the US. Once that becomes successful expanding it to a worldwide Jamaican chain akin to Brazilian Churascaria houses like Texas de Brasil should not be too hard. High end spot with Calypso music in the background, free shot of Island Rum for every customer, servers with dreadlocks and tribal necklaces, real white sand, palm trees and a stream inside. The opportunity to leave a legacy.
For guys new to business, import/export is the best way to break in like Killongy stated. You don't necessarily need to own the mango, shrimp or what have you farm. You're just the middle man facilitating exchange between the foreign buyer and the local producer. And we all know that whether it's coffee, cocoa or fucking ganja ... the middle men make the most money without producing anything or assuming a lot of the risk. Be the middle man. Quick money until you can take over with mega capital.
There are several ways to skin the cat and working on your business/craft/career does not have to come at the expense of your youth or travel. The key lies in determining your personal strengths and maximizing them.
