Glaucon, I'm biased because I'm from Croatia which combines both the poverty and lack of perspective of Eastern Europe and the extreme degeneracy and puppeteering of Western Europe. Thus, seeing a country that is both more advanced and more traditional like Hungary is very pleasing to me.

RE: Hungarian government cancels T-Mobile contracts in sexism row
Only 50 years ago, Kovacs' ideas were the accepted and obvious reality to people of all levels of society in all western countries. This is the correct basis of a country that wants to continue to exist. Hungary has a 1.2 child/woman fertility rate. If Hungary as a society and culture does not return to these values, their nation and people will cease to exist. Its a matter of survival for them to return to attitudes about motherhood that held through all of human history until only half a lifetime ago.

The Overton window has shifted so far that feminist notions are considered normal, and these ideas can be called "crazy", even by a member of this forum.

People like Kovacs need to stand up and speak boldly, to start moving the Overton window back. These ideas are not crazy. Calling them into question is what is actually crazy. We currently live in a culture that has gone crazy, but we don't have to succumb to the craziness.

(12-18-2015 11:02 AM)Mr. Wolf Wrote:  Magyar Telekom severed links with Kovacs after the singer's comments to private television channel Echo TV on Sunday, in which he also said that women had better "fulfil the female calling by belonging to someone, bearing a child for someone."

This seems to me to be an eminently stupid move by the government. Did they really expect a large company that sells a commodity service to the general public to continue to employ as its spokesperson someone saying stupid shit like that. No company should employ as its spokesperson someone who says crazy crap like that about an entire class of its customers. Instead of penalizing T-Mobile for acting appropriately, the government instead should be focused on getting best value for its money. Of course no government actually does that.

The spokesperson should be free to say whatever he thinks, but he cannot expect to continue being employed as a spokesperson after doing so.

I'm the tower of power, too sweet to be sour. I'm funky like a monkey. Sky's the limit and space is the place!

This is going to be rather long.

(12-18-2015 04:50 PM)CactusCat589 Wrote:  Orban deservedly should become wealthier beyond his wildest dreams. Obama could be a billionaire openly accepting 'gifts' on the White House lawn, and I'd be thrilled if he was actually a great president willing to tell migrants to fuck off.

(12-18-2015 07:30 PM)nomadbrah Wrote:  I don't understand this petty obsession with the leader of your country having to work for pennies. In many countries in Europe the prime minister makes less than his better cabinet employees. The result is that the politicians have to grovel for the EU and other globalist orgs (WTO, UN, WHO, many more) in order to get that payday. That is corruption too, just indirect.

Who cares if the leader of your country amasses some wealth, as long as he takes care of his people. I'd rather have the 'King' be rich than his money lenders and court sycophants.

Honestly I don't understand these type of comments. Someone should be rich by building a huge business, not by stealing from the people he was supposed to serve. How is that taking care of them? Is being corrupt a prerequisite to being a good leader? Come on. Your rationalisation is worse than women's. If he were only corrupt and stole enough money for himself, I wouldn't even care. It's that he not only steals for himself but for everyone he knows. And the whole government do that. Don't tell me this benefits the people. The other thing is he either doesn't give a damn or has no clue about economics.

It's easy to judge him based on a few isolated actions. This move with Magyar Telekom was nice, I admit. (Although the government made a statement yesterday saying that these contracts they terminated would have ended this year anyway. So basically they didn't renew them.) This doesn't rectify all his idiotic decisions. The sad thing is aside from his views on immigration, I wouldn't (and it's not just me) even define him as right-wing. He started as one and slowly moved to the centre. He's a populist, does what keeps him elected. He won the last election because he lowered the cost of utilities (water, gas, electricity). A smart move because it brought him votes but a stupid and leftist move. There are basically no jobs in the countryside. Also read further and there are quite a few examples of his incompetency.

Socially speaking these same countries are in the shitter and most likely will turn into an Islamic hellhole by the end of this decade.

Hey, you can have Merkel, Feynmann, or Hollande anytime - take your pick!
Really? Really? Because it's a dichotomy and it's either them or Orbán? I've said already that Orbán might be the best current candidate in Hungary - but that doesn't make him a good one. Ideologically yes but surely that's not the only way to judge a politician. I would like to see a government with similar views who actually knew how to run a country well.

(12-19-2015 01:18 AM)Handsome Creepy Eel Wrote:  For example, while hundreds of thousands of Croatian citizens are being fleeced off and evicted by fradulent CHF-denominated loans, Orban told the banks to fuck off and converted all loans to forints
That whole thing is blown way out of proportion. Every single person who opted for a CHF-denominated loan, should have known he's taking on a big currency risk. They bought CHF at rock bottom prices, then were surprised when the CHF strengthened and they had to pay more. They wanted the upside without any downside. Then the government bailed them out. Moreover the HUF plummeted because of the fucked up economic decisions the government has made. Guess who had to pay for that? The other taxpayers who weren't stupid to finance their new car this way. A leftist move again, the message is clear: if you're stupid, the government will bail you out.

Hungary exports more than it imports: http://www.tradingeconomics.com/hungary/current-account
The unemployment rate is the biggest joke of all. It actually includes Hungarians working abroad in Western Europe. And let me quote DCM because he's pretty much spot on:
(12-19-2015 07:29 AM)DCM Wrote:  Regarding unemployment, a new measure has been introduced that if you are unemployed, unless you find work in 3 months you can choose either to be enrolled into a government work program and be assigned to a position which might not even be in the town you live in for minimal wage (or less? I'm not quite sure), or to stop receiving government benefits. While I agree with the move itself, the government started including the people who work in this scheme as 'employed' in the unemployment figures, despite the fact that a number of surveys show that these people have a very difficult time reintegrating into the actual workforce (and it gets worse the more time they spend in this 'communal service').
So it's completely manipulated, unemployment is the highest it has been since WW2.

Also this:
(12-19-2015 07:29 AM)DCM Wrote:  For example one of the main promises of Fidesz was to reduce the government debt significantly before they were elected. They have been pouring money into it since, but the Hungarian currency (Forint) has devalued so much as a result of their careless financial strategy in the meantime that the actual value of the debt in Forint is about the same as it was 6 years ago.

And this:
(12-19-2015 07:29 AM)DCM Wrote:  In their first year in power, the government gave people the choice to either forfeit all their private pension earnings or not to receive pension from the state at all later. They took money in the order of billions of dollars from the people to plug leaks in their budget. The healthcare system is crumbling, doctors are quitting their positions in groups to go abroad because of the intolerable conditions and low pay. Money is being withdrawn from higher education (most of it from universities aligned with the left), and there are many more, but these do not have the same publicity value, so they barely ever make it to international media.

And this:
(12-19-2015 07:29 AM)DCM Wrote:

I am Hungarian myself, but I was forced to study abroad to get quality education, and even though I love Hungary more than ever after getting first hand experience with UK feminism and degeneracy, I won't be able to move home immediately after my studies are done, because there is practically no chance of earning decent money.

Regarding this:
(12-19-2015 07:29 AM)DCM Wrote:  These of course don't change the fact that Fidesz's stance on culture is the best I know of in Europe, and if you can afford not to depend on the government at all (if you have external income or a great job in Hungary), life can be amazing in Hungary because the culture is great, girls are hot, and you need not worry about the next move of the government affecting you.

I agree it's a great and cheap place to live if you don't make your living in Hungary.

Face the truth bro: Hungary has been much, much poorer than the West for the better part of a century now, if not millennia. Thus, it is asinine to blame the living standard discrepancy between Hungary and the West on Orban. I hope you see this?

As for recent economic trends, it's far from clear whether Hungary is doing better or worse than its Western counterparts. In the USA we've reached a historical low on the labor force participation rate even as the national debt has nearly doubled since 2008 and interest rates were at absolute zero. Is Hungary at a historical low in employment and a historical high in national debt? I'd wager not. How much worse would the situation be in the USA if we hadn't spent the last 8 years massively abusing our reserve currency status? I'll leave that to your imagination.

So I'm not convinced Orban is any worse at economics than his Western counterparts, while being a fucking saint in comparison on things that matter for the long term survival of his nation, namely immigration and culture. I'd count your lucky stars if I were you.

You can have my lucky star, thankfully I do not live there anymore.
Its funny people try to tell Hungarians who left as soon as they could that how good Hungary is. Are you crazy? Maybe I know better after living there for 29 years. You people in the west have no idea what it is like to live in a former USSR EE shithole. Austria is a fucking paradise compared to this, finally I have a chance for a good future! You can not imagine the hopelessness living in Hungary, when no matter what you do how hard you work there is no moving forward.

I never said Orban any worse than any politician, do not put words in my mouth. He just gives lip service, and you people eat that shit mouthful.
I never blamed Orban for how poor Hungary is, but I blame him not doing jack shit to change it. Who the fuck cares that he do not support globalism and blablabla when you barely have enough money to eat, sleep and just survive?

The only reason Orban is in power because all other parties are fucking jokes. I have only voted 1 time and give up, there is no-one to vote for.
I lost hope for Hungary, it will never get any better. Let that country disappear in history. That place was best when the Austrians were in charge. Hungarians are incapable of self governance, they hate each other and do everything to fuck other Hungarians over. The only way to escape that toxic environment is to move away as soon as you can!

It seems like you have a very poor sense of history. What did you expect? That Hungary would go from communist basket case to first world status in the space of a few years? Yeah Austria is richer, no shit Sherlock. It wasn't ruled by the Soviets for nearly the entire second half of the 20th century. What's your point? As far as disappearing in history, it ain't gonna be Hungary who disappears first, and you can thank Orban in large part for that. Hopefully you won't be fleeing back like a hypocrite in a few years when the chickens come home to roost wherever you're currently at.

And by the way, what do you think Orban could realistically do, in the face of the worst global recession in decades, with half of Western Europe on the brink of bankruptcy? What kind of economic magic sauce is Orban stubbornly refusing to apply that has your panties all in a knot? A rising tide floats all ships, and we're not on a rising tide right now in case you haven't noticed. I don't expect politicians to create miracles, I just expect them to not actively work toward destroying the nations they rule, and Orban passes that test with flying colors. I'm very skeptical you can say the same thing about the place you currently reside in.
Keep calm, guys.

The problem is not that Austria's a more prosperous country. The problem is that the neighbouring countries (Czech Republic, Poland, even Romania!) have been doing much better since the dissolution of the USSR. That's not only Orbán's fault, I give you that but economically he hasn't done any better than the leftist government.

This is not an issue of "socialism", but "crony capitalism". CHF-denominated loans are pure gambling no different from credit derivatives, in which when the bank wins it's customer's fault for being greedy, but when the bank loses then it comes crying for bailouts and taxpayer assistance (and then counts the said bailouts as the "most successful year ever" and pays out massive bonuses).
None of the funds were even actually paid out in CHF, nor did the banks import any CHFs to cover their positions. It was listed there simply for gambling purposes. Furthermore, the banks and the government are jointly covering the costs of the conversion (although it would have been better to have the banks cover everything, but oh well - guess some lobbies are just too strong).

In any case, the fact that it was reported all over the world as "eeeeeevil Orban interfering with noble European banks" tells me enough to know that he struck something positive there.

I agree completely, it is manipulated. But it's still a ton better than Croatia, which also engages in all those forms of manipulations, and still has a staggering unemployment rate of 17.5%. That's a real difference that cannot just be waved away, and from my point of view it's just hard to understand this doomsday talk about Hungary.

If you don't believe me, just move here ;-)

Nothing is wrong with the language, it's just very tough and sounds alien. While agglutinative languages are a pain in general, at least Finnish does it with vowels so it ends up sounding musical, whereas Hungarian stacks tons of consonants, producing monstrous words like "vezerigazgatosag".

Again, this is not something against Hungarian, just a consideration that it is much harder to learn than say Spanish or Russian.

The taxes are the highest in Europe, the salaries almost the lowest. Every year things get worse not better. Everything is old and rundown, the capital is disgustingly dirty. I can not say anything good about Hungary, the girls are not that nice either, they look OK but this hopelessness makes them quite bitchy. There is a reason why the divorce rate is around 50%.

In the last 500 years Hungary was always the loser of history, this won't change I am sure of it.

Interesting. 800 dollars i is not actually such a bad wage. I know that IT guys make that amount in places of Latin America with similar GDP (Argentina, Uruguay, etc.) and i remember a similar rant from portuguese guy who said he made about 700 euros in Portugal.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_co...per_capita

I read that globalization makes women in "pussy paradises" get higher standards regarding men, because they actually see what they can get from a foreigner or a high status male in their own society (even when they just want to pump and dump them). I would say it has the same effect in men too apparently. When i find out that a guy in Canada makes 10 times more than me in the same position just by being in Canada, i got really pissed off and started to plan a way to get my hands in that money, never really cared before.

But there is enough space in developed western nations to get us all? i found it as the same debate as illegal immigrants. I don't think those guys in those places want to get hordes of IT guys, they would drive the wages down and make the women even bitchier. And to be honest i don't think i deserve to live there to take advantage of what others have built and abandon what my ancestors gave to me, makes me think also in (true syrian) male refugees in Europe. A man in other times would stand up and die to protect their country, that is what made powerful countries, powerful, in first place. Today those men-child would rather to abandon their ancestral lands the lands their grandfathers and fathers die to get and protect, just to get free stuff.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Eu...erage_wage

Another interesting fact is, why is the difference of wages so high in this segment?
I mean tlook for example to Philippines and, Their GDP is around 6,000 i found that their average wage is around 180 dollars, that is around 166 euro. Or Moldova, in the map i posted above it says it is around 170 euros. You then look at Hungary or Poland, where economies are 5 times larger. And you find average wages are around 550 euros Hungary, 700 Poland. That is about 3 to 4 times more. Meanwhile average wage in Germany are about 2100 euros, the same 3 to 4 times more, having an economy barely double of those central european countries.

I understand the schadenfreude feels because our side 'put a point on the board' here, but honestly, the government's move is the exact type of shit the SJWs pull and I wouldn't want to see this become more common.

Having lived in Hungary, you get a feel for how raw some of the poverty is there. They have a very bad homeless problem, and you see some pretty depressing shit, whole families bedding down by metro walkways, shop fronts and car parks, even during winter. They get pretty much fuck all and plenty of it from the government there, who while i'm no expert, the Hungarians regard as being exceptionally corrupt and focused on lining their own pockets, while maintaining populist support with the nationalists. Fair play to them for taking no shit from the grumpy muslims, mind you...

Andy,

After the Americans adopted NAZI tank tactics, did the Americans become NAZI's?

No.

T-Mobile cut him for his beliefs, not the other way around. The Hungarian government has simply adopted the tactics of its enemies and used them against them, they do not become "SJW's" now.

Funny, reading the OP and then the exchange between Hungarians make me think about Vietnam and other third world countries, and why I left in the first place despite it being a pussy paradise apparently. I think I completely understand what Glaucon is saying.

Sure, there are no refugees here and if any illegal immigrants get caught they would be beaten up, girls are slim and traditional, feminists would get either beaten up or told to get back to the kitchen, and you dont have to pay taxes if you know the right angles.

However, the country is dirt poor, corruption and native crimes are rampant and death by traffic accident are higher than war casualty, and pollution is off the charts. Every time I go home for vacation somebody I know is dying from cancer or killed in a bike crash.

I guess better the devil you like than the devil you dont.

^ Hungary is not a third world country, I think there's some grass is greener effect going on here.

Hungary will be on par with most Euro countries pr. capita in 15-20 years tops. Hungary has human capital, they're one of the leading health tourism destinations in the world and have one of the best back surgery hospitals in the world too.

There certainly isn't visible poverty in Budapest proper. I am sure you will find plenty of drab Sovjet era living conditions outside the center and the countryside is probably reasonably poor.

Real poverty is Metro Manila and Delhi slums or shoebox apartments in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

I agree it's pure gambling but only the suckers bought into this scheme and the rest of the taxpayers had to bail them out afterwards. I would rather not comment about the mainstream media, we all know it's a big fat lie.

If you don't believe me, just move here ;-)
I'm sure it's a problem elsewhere too. All I'm saying it hasn't got any better since this government was elected.

True but I don't think it would be any harder for you than English (purely from a technical perspective). Sure, it doesn't really resemble other European languages but would be easier than an Asian language and people can learn those as well, so it's only a matter of dedication and persistence. If you want to move here, let me know and I can help you with anything. Smile Like-minded red-pill men are always welcome. Or young, hot, feminine women. Big Grin

This is absolutely not true. If you visit Budapest, you won't see anything like that. It is a civilised European city, in the best sense of the word. You won't see any ghettos or the likes. It is clean and liveable. There are poor parts of the country however but if you visit the bigger cities, it would closely resemble Western Europe. Just a bit less prosperous. Sure, you can find dirty places and homeless people in Budapest, just like anywhere else but it's not overwhelming and not anything like the favelas of Brazil or the shitholes of India.

I will state this again: Budapest is an awesome place to live if you're not employed here. The HUF depreciated about 30% against the USD in the last year or so, thus making everything cheaper here. Hopefully there won't be any damn Syrian refugees coming either.
