I need to buy a new webcam and am not sure what to buy. I am looking for something to use with Skype and maybe for a You Tube channel.

I searched the archives but most of the threads revolve around videotaping your nocturnal exploits so as to avoid a false rape charge. That is not what I intend to use this camera for.

Anybody in the know have any suggestions? This one was mentioned on one of the threads:

I used a Logitech c920 to build a photobooth last year for a client, great automatic focus and other adjustments.

Got it on sale for $50 last year should be the same or less now:

EDIT: Ah dammit that's the same camera, oops!

Here's another suggestion if you're on a budget and have this stuff lying around: Most laptops have firewire ports (unless they are recent models where that was dropped) so you can buy or re-use an existing camcorder that has firewire out. Be aware it's standard def though (720x480 or 640x480) but they do have autofocus and other nice adjustments. I found out they can be used like this by accident, the two that I own now go to sleep if there's a videotape inside, but when you take it out they stay awake forever.

I bought a webcam last year, if I were you, unless you are a pro youtuber, I'd just get the Logitech that costs half that price.
