I don't think it is a shit test. It is an honest question and a strong sign of interest. And if you say "no", that doesn't mean that you never had a girlfriend or can't find one. Just answer honestly and proceed as normally. Every time, or even most of the time, women aren't shit testing you or trying to see if you are a "beta". Stop reading into too much into a simple question.

I got asked this questions over the weekend.

I was walking down a strip of bars and opened a group of 3, a guy, his gf and her friend.

I like these type of situations since I know that "friend" is usually a third wheel.

Anyways, I opened them and played on the whole 3rd wheel thing and the guy and the girlfriend immediately starts saying that the friend is single, she needs company, come hang out with us, ect. I did and they eventually asked me if I had a girl, I said "she's waiting for me in my bed right now." All 3 kept on complimenting me on how honest I was. After about 30 mins, the friend pulled me to the side, made out with me. Her looks were below average, and she was on the thicker side. Long story short, I got tired and ended up number closing her and leaving.

So imo, there is not right answer to the question. It depends on the situation and how horny the girl is
