There isn't enough housing for all the incoming guests, nor will it be enough to appease them.

Also, Zel, everyone knows if the Europeans were united this would never be happening but they aren't united. The war won't between Migrants vs. Europeans. It will be Europeans vs. Europeans. I am gonna agree with this from my own observations living in England for three years with kids. Our kids went to a private school, though not a boarding school, and when all the kids were young, they were just normal kids like you'd see anywhere else, bright, funny, energetic.

The English private schools, some more than others for sure, have a way of sort of stamping out a lot of the natural empathy and good spirits of the kids in ways that were alien to me as a foreigner.

Like when we were kids, we may have had lessons about the black plague, but at the English school, they would show young kids actual photos of victims of the plague, that gave my stepdaughter nightmares, but the idea was, well, that's life, and you just have to get on with it.

You could see the kids sort of change over the years, getting more and more stereotypically stiff upper lippy and English. Much more analyzers than feelers.

I knew one kid who was wealthier than the rest (His dad owned a village, basically a lord and master.) who was just a normal kid, mostly raised by his mom (MUM!) most of the time because dad was off doing business or at the pub or hunting.

He was sent away to boarding school at 12 I think and it was a huge upheaval for him, very traumatic, and he was one of the tougher kids, a great natural athlete.

It was said his dad felt he was getting to "namby pamby" being raised so much by his mother, and needed less coddling. The kid was a nervous wreck for a week before he left and I never saw him again.

It couldn't have been good for him. It was like his dad took no interest in him his whole life, one day decided to do some parenting, and sent him away from all he had ever known with no preparation or fatherly guidance up until the moment he left.

English people, while competent and clever, intellectual, and tough, can be very hard on themselves and each other, and it is a fair speculation to say that just bouncing a 12 year old away from home, with no real warning or preparation, can feel like a real betrayal to the kid, and make him close off emotionally, and resolve to never show any weakness (love) again.

Doing that to a kid who will be a member of the elite class can't be a good idea, at least for the rest of us.

I agree with Samseau, but think the Europeans will win, and the migrants will die or go home for the most part, with the most bloodshed taking place in Germany and Sweden.

Germans still have the resources and common bonds, but honestly, who knows.

My homeland, Turkey, is considered the predecessor of the Ottoman Empire, so I'm inclined to post about this.

When Ottoman state was just a simple tribal structure, they were a homogenous people of nomads. They were superior at fighting wars beause of their way of life, and they attracted 'holy warriors' because they fought the 'infidels'. But, Turkish aristocracy tends to divide structures that get too big, because the realm is typically considered the property of the whole dynasty. They had a lot of civil wars and bothers killing each other because of this.

So, Mehmed II (the Conqueror, the guy took Constantinople) developed a formula to undermine the Turkish aristocracy, and get to govern the empire with a much more effective group of bureucrats. He gave power to the janissaries.

Now most of you guys are wondering what those guys have to do with anything. Most information about the janissaries point about their superior fighting skills and how they were slaves etc.. But janissaries were actually much more. They were originally christian (mostly from slavic stock), taken from their families roughly at puberty age. They were trained and disciplined (without mercy and compassion, it was 500 years ago) at the hands of a professional group of teachers. Brightest were assigned to govern the empire.

But, as soon as this system is properly established, problems arose within the Anatolian heartland of the empire. Turkmen nomads resisted government policies that changed their lifestyle, which gave way to the rise of the empire (familiar?). The empire had to deal with revolts after revolts. New rulers were absolutely devoid of emotion, and they didn't think they belonged to the primary ethnic group (Turks) within the empire.

Revolts were suppressed by great amounts of bloodshed, but Empire was significantly weakened. It took the Ottomans four centuries to collapse (mostly due to some Game of Thrones level schemes and intrigues), but the empire was practically finished by the 19th century.

Why am I telling you this? because current 'Empire of the World' is American, and the American elite does not think they belong to American primary ethnic group, and they are devoid of any emotions.

@Going strong - I think he's talking about the ramblings of some shadowy "elite" (which often functions as a god of the gaps) and the latent defeatism and doomsaying.

I think Blick Mang was getting at the excessive death toll and all out war doom mongering. I agree it is a bit of a dooms day preppers wet dream to believe such a thing would happen and it is possibly based on how the world changed in 10 years before WWII started.

Nobody thought it could happen but alas...it did. I'm not concerned about such a scenario but what the real damage will be is before then. Right now its open season and the prey isn't aware it has a big target on its back.
