Actually, germanico is wrong. There is a friend zone. It's the zone you're in where she can get something from you but she isn't turned on by you.

Do not ask a girl if this is okay. Just do it and assume it is okay. You shouldn't "ask" a girl to be FWB. It just happens naturally and evolves over time. Though I'd say, during a totally normal conversation unrelated to your situation, that men and woman can't be plain friends.

I told a girl once if we are going to be friends, I need to go find other girls to date or attract. Do not know stay friends if she is going to turn into an emotional tampon or beta male orbiter. There's a difference between leaving a door open and reeking of fucking desperation. As a side note Corey Wayne is alright, but he does come out with a load of nonsense sometimes including in his book something like "if you're just looking for sex then get a whore" or something of that nature.
