Best game I´ve ever seen. Those last 10 minutes, that´s what the sport is all about. That´s the way of the warrior. But how can the Japanese still walk straight on it with those massive balls? I have no idea, but history has been written.

It's kind of a symbolic victory. Just the other day Japan announced for the first time since WWII they're expanding their military mission, and now they defeat the Sprinboks in one of the biggest upsets in Rugby. The Red Sun rises again.

Didn't get to see Japan's match, but I saw the highlight. The fact that they scored the last try 4 minutes after the end of regulation shows the tremendous size of their testicles indeed.

France - Italy was a great one, some of France's tries were brilliant, the one with the little kick to pass the ball forward especially. But the Italian showed toughness up until the end and didn't allow France to get the bonus point.

I'm glad to see that the scoring average of each mach is 47.6 so far. I hope this keeps on !

I'm not going to lie. I shed a tear watching the jubilation of the Japanese team after full time. What a day for Japanese rugby! There's always a couple of upsets at the world cup, but nothing on this magnitude.

Upsets happen so rarely in rugby due to the nature of the game; it can't be underestimated how seismic the Japan SA game yesterday was really.

You have to wonder whether the boks were "fighting the last war" so to speak; the team is very old and very experienced. We often see this in sport. It happens again and again. Do they have the physical and mental fight to turn things around? I wouldn't bet agains them, as they are a nation of tough, hard motherfukers but you have to wonder!

All Blacks up today...despite being an Englishman through and through I have always hated the way that we approach the game from grassroots all the way up to elite level. NZ just play rugby how I believe it should be played and are the only sports team on the planet I get up in the middle of the night to watch regularly.

New Zealand won against Argentina 26 - 16. I saw somewhere on this thread that the All blacks often have sloppy beginnings of games, that was the case here indeed.

Argentina was in front at some point, but then that Sonny Bill Williams fellow came in and seems to have turned things around. Argentina's defense couldn't keep up during the second half, which allowed NZ to score a try at 57' and 67'.

Japan is playing Scotland tomorrow, I'm curious to see if they can reiterate the feat.

Japan Scotland is Wednesday.

It was more the pace of the game than SBW, although he did make a difference. Rugby is often won and lost in the last 20 minutes; it's just very hard to keep up the effort required against a superior team for the full 80.

My bad, didn't see that they were skipping a couple days in the schedule, I was following the Eurobasket the past 2 weeks and assume Rugby would have the same pace. Oh well...

You're making a good point, NZ seemed more physical overall.

Japan beating SA is beautiful news. The only thing better would be them smashing Scotland. Those faces of the SA fans are priceless and the Scots should face the same loss.

Exactly, also, if there is anything that can be said about the All Blacks, it's that they invariably find a way to win when it matters. Take their last game against England, where they won narrowly with a try after the 80 minutes. They are so good at retaining possession, so clinical in their execution, and so relentless, that even when they look like suffering a freak loss they find a way to come up with the goods. The current All Blacks teams is probably one of the great teams of all time, across all sports, they are that good. And they could switch out their whole first team and probably still be the best team in the world, or challenging for it!

There are a few teams who could score freak wins over them if everything goes in their favour, but otherwise expect to see the All Blacks rise to whatever occasion is in front of them.

With some of the big names in the side, like SBW and Dan Carter, I think I'm inclined to agree with you if we're talking about the current generation. Normally I would say that SA are better, and that the loss against Japan was just an anomaly, but I can't say that fairly without having watched that game (and, to be honest, fair play to Japan for winning).

Having looked at the NZ Test records though, it shows just how dominant NZ rugby is, even against SA and AUS. They're a consistent side, which is probably what I would put importance on when deciding the "greatest team".

I can't comment on the "greatest team of all time" though, because I've not watched enough rugby since before the 2007 Rugby World Cup (which is when I got into Rugby as a 12 year old)
