This is just a publicity stunt for Page. She knows that she's losing relevance in Hollywood, so she's trying to make a scene with a rising politician to gain some points with the gay and SJW communities in Hollywood. It's just like how she came out as a lesbian during a time when her career was declining. To her, it's not about having a political debate; It's about representing the popular Hollywood opinion to regain some popularity. I doubt she cares about the treatment of gays around the world. She only cares about the status of her career.

I've seen nothing but the exact opposite, as if Federally legislated gay marriage isn't an enormous victory for LGBTs. They won't be happy until they CREATE more gayness, transexuality, and bi-curiosity. What they're shooting for is growth, not just "equality - " which has more than run it's course.

As I've posted before, I have to shelter my 7 yo daughter from this shit as I raise her. I don't want my kid to become a dyke, but I highly doubt that will be possible with a father like me. At one point in time, the word "gay" simply meant happy, and the rainbow coincided with the crucial scientific discovery of the light spectrum by Isaac Newton. I'm going to a gay rally and telling them I represent the science community so we're banning the use of the rainbow for gay projecting.

The fight for religious liberties, in Cruz's case the ability to tell gay people "no I won't hold your marriage here, no I won't bake you a gay cake" is exactly analogous to the fight MLK was in. Some people wanted the right to say "no" to black people in their restaurants, neighborhoods, etc. Obviously progressives won that battle.

The principle at play here is called "freedom of association". Do you have the freedom to associate or not with who you please? MLK flipped the script on that and in progressive folklore at least, he said "No, you do not have the right to exclude people you don't like from your restaurant, church, neighborhood, or anything like that."

And this is the world we live in now. Progressives are finishing off this fight, removing religious people's rights to say "no" to gay, trans, etc. people. It's the same fight.

Cruz trying to use MLK as a shield for the ability to turn away people you don't want to serve is indeed losing frame. It's like a "communist" having to justify their position by referencing Ayn Rand and Milton Friedman and pretending they would approve of some communist proposal. Complete loss of frame, complete losing argument.

I saw the clip shared around Facebook, but it was only the first few seconds where Cruz was caught off guard and Ellen Page had the upper hand. It was shared under the heading of "Ellen Page owns Ted Cruz." Quite the opposite was true. As the video goes on, he actually decimates her, and by the end she has nothing to say.

I agree with Sonsowey that he did lose a bit of points when frame was broken, particularly when he started to use the "tolerance" rhetoric of the left.

I have written about the destruction of marriage extensively here, because I can't discuss it anywhere else. Keep your eyes open and you will see more polyamory article out there. Next up is legalized polygamy which will pretty well be the end of property rights/inheritance, which is the true goal in destroying marriage. Think about it, who gets the house if the purchaser of a home in a five way marriage with eight children dies? There is no clear right of succession. Ultimately, the property will end up belonging to The State, which is the socialist goal in all of this : everything belongs to everyone. But really, socialism isn't the end goal, it is Totalitarianism. Socialists are being used and think they will get a utopian society in the end. Won't happen. The truly rich, our oligarchs, are grabbing everything for themselves.

I'll forgive Cruz for that. Sonsowey was right but it was a good way to hack the left's argument. Using their own icons and tactics against them can always work wonders (sadly, as we know all too well, playing the victim card works because people are naturally sympathetic to victims), as we saw here, though this bint wasn't exactly a formidable opponent. It was almost akin to a virus hacking a cell membrane through using just the right protein receptors.

The better take though is to just laugh her out of hand. Homosexuals constantly wrap themselves up in the past plights of blacks in this country, which is totally absurd. I honestly don't understand why more black people aren't infuriated at it. In fact, I'm sure many are, but the liberal media keeps it on the downlow.

In this case it really is, to use an absurd "social justice" phrase - claiming an oppression you never had. It scores points and status. Pathetic.

And what did she expect from him? I'm fine with gay marriage, but clearly a lot of people disagree. Such is life. And not only do people have to agree, they have to endorse it.
