The main connection between the people in that photo (from a few posts back) is massive wealth, not religion. It's old and new money.

Here is info about four of the people pictured:

Steve Jobs was born to a Muslim father and Catholic mother. He wasn't raised by a Jewish family. Nor did he convert to Judaism later in life.

John Hennessey, the Stanford president, is Irish -- as his name suggests. But he comes out and says that in this speech.

I can't find a religion for John Chambers, president of Cisco. But he's definitely not listed as Jewish and was raised in West Virginia by parents named "John and June," so I'd guess something like Methodist or Presbyterian.

Finally, John Doerr from Kleiner is listed as "Christian" on his Wikipedia page and that reference is sourced.

The murder rate's been falling since the nineties and continued through both Bush and Obama's terms. Criminologists theorize that the initial drop was due to the waning of the crack epidemic. Now they believe that a good chunk of it is due to the fact we're imprisoning tons of people who would be out committing murders for other reasons, improvements in emergency care and response, etc.

They can't say with any certainty as to why crime has dropped. Criminology isn't really an exact science and the record-keeping at the local level that the FBI relies on to come up with their Uniform Crime Report (UCR) is sometimes spotty.

However, the demographics when it comes to crimes like murder are still pretty much the same. Certain populations are greatly over-represented.

A huge chunk of violent crime and murder is black on black. Plenty of scientists, engineers, and philosophers here. Except we aren't chumps with chicks, the major difference. It shows in our attitude towards everything we do and why this forum is so damn popular.

What's happening is that virtually everyone old enough to operate a phone now has a mini video recorder/camera in their pocket that can instantly send anything to youtube, facebook, snapchat or instagram. Doesn't mean anything like this is happening with any increasing frequency. In the past if you saw a fight, you'd just tell a few friends about it and that was the end. Now anytime a fight or any mayhem breaks out in public, everyone is grabbing their cameras vying to be the first one to make it go viral. Don't believe the hype. I recently got in a protracted debate with a white nationalist over the course of last week about crime where he insists black on white crime rates are exploding and then blamed it on Obama. I shut him down fact by fact showing that crime has decreased since Obama's been president. Murder whether white on white, black on black, or interracial has all gone down since Obama's been president.

3. The way we disagreed is that the way crime is reported is bogus, and we clearly have a precedent for this in the unemployment numbers. It is WELL KNOWN that government figures can be bullshitted, and many guys in that thread have talked about crimes we saw yet the police never reported. And it was men from both Britain and America so it has nothing to do with some sort of vast right wing conspiracy you imagine.

This is an example of the kind of threads I don't want on the forum, where one topic gets hijacked into race discussion. I've been a bit lenient about this the past month but it looks like I will have to serve out permanent bans for members who have already been warned about it, because doing nothing causes these discussions to pop up in unrelated threads.
