That's an interesting perspective. Normal people are held to a higher standard of decency, but gays gonna gay, so no one bothers.

The other thing is that if you try to stop gays from doing all that sick shit, you are accused of hate and phobia -- you are the one in the wrong. Saying "Quit flogging your gay lover's naked as in public" is hate speech. And if a cop or public official tries to stop it, well then its a civil rights issue and the national media is there to make a federal case out of it.

Here's another thing that people don't consider: the cops are vastly outnumbered at these pride parades and they really don't want to put their hands on gays. Can you blame them?

Yeah, who'd want to risk a case of AIDS? Better to bring out the water cannons and just spray them away Russia style.

This. So why would 'normal people' even try or care anymore?

When the 'decent' 80% see the shithead 10% get away with it, every fucking time....they wise up and add themselves to the 10%. That's when it all falls apart.

My theory (or prob someone else's theory, no claims here) is, ~10% will always do the right thing, no matter what. ~10% will always do the wrong thing, no matter what. The remaining ~80% will generally do the right thing, given reasonable incentive and 'signals' from society (reputation, reward, social standing, etc). This % is somewhat variable....as long as the majority 'do the right thing,' society functions at an acceptable level.

Those 'signals' include the 10% wrong-thing group being properly punished/ostracized for its crimes. They won't change, of course, but it's a signal to the ~80% to stay on course. Naturally, the 'right-thing' 10% are immutable.

When a significant part of the 80% see the 10% continually 'get away with it,' or even rewarded for their crimes/perversity, the opposite signal is sent - you, Mr. 80%-er, are a sucker. Your honest efforts are being used to support that shithead 10%, who are living it up at your expense. Why not start getting in on what the shithead 10% is getting?

That's when it starts getting really, really bad.
