Americans Reject 10 oz Silver Bar For $10
This thread title is a little off, as some of them reject it for $0.99.

My favorite one was, "How much did those headphones cost you?"

"160 bucks."

This is fucking stupid. Nobody wants to be hustled and nobody on the street can tell a silver bar from iron, and also, there are heavy criminal penalties for dealing in stolen merchandise which street hustlers often deal in. Get this guy out of here.

Check out my occasionally updated travel thread - The Wroclaw Gambit II: Dzięki Bogu - as I prepare to emigrate to Poland.

Haha the dumb bitch at 1:52, "I'm sorry...I...I have a lot going on...".

And the chicks at the end, even after he spells it out for them that they could sell it in 2 minutes for $160, she still turns to her friend and says, "Should we do it?"

Jesus what is wrong with people. I understand that being solicited in the street automatically generates a defense in people, but you'd think the camera and microphone would at least get them to listen to what he's saying. Not too surprising that the average person has zero knowledge of silver bullion though.

"...so I gave her an STD, and she STILL wanted to bang me."

I get what you're saying but he's even telling some of them that they can walk to a precious metals dealer and have it verified.

You make it sound like $10 is a big risk... and even if it's stolen the person buying it is not responsible for it.

Dude what kind of criminals/hustlers record their transactions with professional cameras and mics? Besides, you're not going to be prosecuted for buying stolen goods unless it's totally obvious they're hot.

A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance.

So you think Americans aren't this ignorant and they were being rational and avoiding being sold to? Let's see what happens when some easy questions are asked about the United States (Americans' own country):

Sure, there are exceptions in the United States, but I think most of us here would agree that about 60-70% of American aren't all there.

It goes to show how well the the effect of dumbing down of people over important things gets these results
If you want really scary important things look at
1) How the Federal Reserve System came into being
2) Size and magnitude of Banks exposure to the derivatives market
3) Why Leaving the Gold standard caused money to become currency
4) Jewish ownership of:
Global Banking system
News Media
Entertainment industry
How historical events came about like The Balfour Declaration and why the Jews became the target of hate

Would you actually do that?

Give a random guy on the street with a camera ten bucks for what he says is a precious metal?

I would ignore him too, as I ignore everyone trying to stop me on the street asking for money.

Imagine if it's fake.

"Oh man this guy on the street got me for $10 today, he said he was selling me $160 of silver for a special discount."

"How could you possibly believe that?"

Don't say merican. People everywhere are skeptical and only certain types gamble or know enough about metal to test it on the spot.

Non Mericans are even worse.

Myself I love this and would ask how many he has and ask to key scrape but would probably know it's real by holding it. Also as for a magnet.

I thought the vocal fry was more disturbing than her response.

If a dude on the street is offering a 10oz gold bar, most people still wouldn't do it. They'd assume it was a setup for some dumb late-night talk show and move on.

You make it sound like $10 is a big risk... and even if it's stolen the person buying it is not responsible for it.

They definitely can be charged with a crime for this. If someone is selling something at a seriously undervalued price and it turns out it was stolen, there's a very real possibility you will be charged with receiving stolen property, and then have to fight it out in court.

I know someone who this personally happened to.

As to the video, how many people said yes to buying the bar, but were edited out? All of these "Dumb American!" videos are just editing together the responses that fit the narrative of what they want.

I had an Irish guy in Thailand telling me "I saw on TV that Americans are so stupid, they don't know their left hand from their right!" because he watched some reality show that showed people being confused, somehow, about right from left. This Irish guy actually thought that a large portion of Americans don't know right from left, which to me was much more telling of his own intelligence level than that of anyone else.

Same with the videos of "Americans don't know where Europe is!?!?!". They are just clips edited together to make people look stupid, but the real stupid people are the ones that watch it and make the conclusion that all or most Americans don't know where Europe is.

Europeans especially seem to love this shit. Every time they want to bring up how stupid Americans are or talk about our gun laws, this is what pops into my mind:

El Mech is right; if you've owned silver coins or bars you know by color and weight relative to size if it's probably real or not. I can easily pick a silver coin out of a pile of crappy modern coins very quickly.

This is a better commentary on the debasement of our money than anything else.

Like my father says, "No one ever gives you stuff for free." I would automatically refuse for that reason, even if it were a gold bar. And I would be right!

He offered also a gold coin for 25$ that was worth over 1000$ at the time. He did it right in front of a pawn shop and proposed the people to check out the valuation.

It is not illegal to take up a fool on his offer. Only because it is offered below price, then it does not have to be illegal. The people are getting openly filmed and recorded, so how illegal could this shit be?

I don't think that people are refusing it out of fear of buying stolen goods. They are refusing it because they are dumb as rocks. There are plenty of videos of students doing outrageous petitions and plenty of nitwits signing away their rights, signing petitions to forcibly evict US born citizens from the US - etc.

As one Indian call center worker said about Americans: "They are either super-smart or dumb as dirt - very little in between."

RE: Americans Reject 10 oz Silver Bar For $10
Come on.

Among other things, RVF is a pickup site. Pickup is all about reading subtext. This transaction and approach is bursting with subtext. How in the world are you guys missing this. How is a forum on a pickup-focused website going to get all autistic about YO THIS BAR OF SILVER IS WORTH $160, WHY WOULDN'T YOU BUY IT and totally miss the subtext of what's going on in this situation.

1) Guy Is Approaching Out Of The Blue - what do you want from me? Lack of comfort game. Suspicion flag #1.

2) Guy Is Offering Deal Too Good To Be True - guy is offering free money. Nobody gives away free money. Suspicion flag #2.

3) Guy Immediately Lowers Price When Offered - indicates that $10 was a bad deal and he was already trying to rip them off once. Suspicion flag #3.

4) Guy Is Flanked By A Camera - what are you taking this footage for? Suspicion flag #4.

People rightly fear others who act irrationally. If the guy is acting irrationally by offering free money, why wouldn't he then continue to act irrationally if the mark angers him somehow by declining his offer? Fear mode activated.

They then reacted appropriately to him, which was to disengage as politely as humanly possible without angering the guy and risking further escalation of a weird situation. These people on camera were obviously wary of him and you could tell by their body language and their waffling, noncombative responses. It's the same reason that people don't flat out tell charities 'no, I don't want to give any money to your charity', they say, 'oh, really tight this month, got no cash on me, etc.' They're intuitively fearful of angering the other person.

Incidentally, they were swiftly able to discern that this guy really did have an agenda that was not him giving them free money. As it turns out, he was trying to make fools of them on Youtube, so they were right to fear him.

It's like an HB9 walking up to you on the street out of the blue asking if you want some free pussy. Your natural instincts should be to guard your wallet and look for the armed gang who is about to mug you.

Yep it seems like that, even though the guy is clean-cut and well-spoken. Is trust really so low in the USA? Was that a rough part of town?

Doesn't matter how rough it was. The guy in the video came off like a hustler not a violent robber. You'll find plenty of people looking to make an easy buck at someone else's expense no matter where in the country you are.
