Just picked up Reasons To Stay Alive on a recommendation (by a particularly clueless female). Might just put it back down if this is the calibre of author we're dealing with. Should've known better.

Right, so feminists don't want men to talk about feminism, discuss feminism and [despite Harry Potter girl telling us how feminism is for men] that feminism doesn't exist to help males. So we as men say fuck your feminism.

I love when feminists attack their "allies." I wish they would do it more often. Only when white-knights hit bottom and fully realize that their white-knight game will never pay off will they be willing to see the light.

A simple formula:

The more people invest their time and effort into an ideology, the more cognitive dissonance they are capable of. They will explain it all away.

He will say it's not the feminists fault, they're just jaded and hurt by the patriarchy (passing the blame to other men) and/or he miscommunicated (internalising the blame). Obviously this is incorrect, they're privileged western women whose party/gravy train was crashed by this man. He will not see this, because he's invested too much of his life to quit now. I forget his age, but he's 30s or 40s, so he's been playing this game since college. He's built a kaleidoscope through which to view the world, and after all these years, it's quite robust.

Anyone who has ever left a religion can recognise this thought process.

I think peak feminism has hit, since both awareness and ridiculing of it seems to be at an all time high. That's based on my observations outside of this forum.

The idea of a man writing a book for men, explaining to them why feminism benefits them struck a nerve. I think it's because it doesn't fit with the slave mentality of feminism. They believe that 'oppressed' groups have moral authority, that's why they try so hard to identify as anything other than straight, white, male, Christian etc. It's a projection of their own inadequacies in life, and their own failure to develop into well rounded human beings. Instead of criticising themselves, they say that it is the world that must somehow be 'wrong', 'immoral', etc.

If you understand Nietzsche's concept of Slave Morality, you will understand modern socialists. It's a perverse religion to replace Christianity, despite being based on so many of the same philosophical principles.

This dude most likely comes from a broken home, with a weak or absent father, and a bitter, approval withholding mother.

He is essentially projecting his internal drama, out into the world:
