Squat toilets. Learning to use them makes you have to learn to sit like that. It's actually an Asian thing that's common in Oriental Asian countries just as much as places like Turkey, Pakistan, India, or Sri Lanka. Necessity I guess.

These girls are bangable, they are better than the matches when I get when use Tinder. The vast majority of girls on the online apps are foreign lovers and tend to like black guys more than other girls. Dude if you say only Seoul that's a completely different story. Squat toilets tend to be common mainly outside of big cities in a lot of countries. Saying there are hardly any squat toilets in Istanbul therefore not in the vast majority of Turkey would be quite the fallacy.

Half of Korea's population lives in the greater Seoul area,.including almost all.of its young people, so for all intents and purposes, Seoul = Korea. When you visit Korea you're gonna.be in Seoul and that's pretty much it (maybe busan or.jeju.if you want a beach trip). Much different from China or Japan.

I didnt spend much time out of Seoul at all but I highly doubt Sylo's claim in the first place.

So my point stands it would be disingenuous to assume those aren't possibly there. If you didn't spend time outside of Seoul then you even have less of a claim. If you think Istanbul, Ankara, and the beaches are any way representative of Turkey even though they hold a significant portion of its population you are sorely mistaken.

Your problem seems to be that you think us guys would only dare to go there just for pussy or for a job. I can see now why you are disagreeing with Sourcecode on learning Korean.

Why learn a language if all you want is pussy and a job? Appreciating the culture and history is just as important in my opinion, and you aren't going to find that only in the big urban centers or at all by the beach.

It would be tantamount to saying New York and Los Angeles are representative of the entire United States and all of its population because the culture in those places are what's exported abroad.

Well when you learn the language your ability to.appreciate the culture goes up tenfold. Going to a museum or seeing some temples in the countryside gives very little cultural understanding in my opinion.

The NY and LA example.is quite a stretch since not.even 10% of the US population lives in those places.

I'm guilty of equating Seoul to Korea, sure. If you asked me about California and I only told.you about the Bay Area and So Cal, I'd be guilty of doing the same thing. If that's disingenuous then so be it.

If I'm going to Korea, or any country for that matter, on my own dime I would have to have some understanding of the culture and a good understanding of the language.

That's just me so don't assume I travel for pussy only. Any country worth traveling too in my opinion I would have to appreciate.

And yes I would find more culture in a temple in the countryside than with my tongue down a girl's throat in the club.

I've lived in Seoul and they do have those damned squat toilets, you'll be hard pressed to find them in places like gangnam or any sort of place that is trying to have an upscale image. But in the areas between those, pop into any of those 5 story buildings filled with chimaek places and you'll have a decent chance or running into a squatter.

I could have phrased what I said better. I was going off the general "tourist who goes abroad just to take selfies of themselves in places that look foreign" sort of stereotype. When anyone in this forum will probably not be doing that, or much of it.


You and I differ on who we would want to be learning the culture from. I didn't put down my entire thoughts in the last post, the ajushis are one thing I won't discredit that at all, but I enjoy hitting up the ilcha icha samcha sacha and stuff, that'd be more with the people who I've met while out. Chances are the old friendly neighbor will show you a much different lifestyle.

I stayed in Daejon which is sorta inbetween Seoul and Busan last year and I don't remember any squat toilets there, even in the smallest cramped places. As for the other 50% outside Seoul, you need to be specific with WHO is in that DEMOGRAPHIC. The hotter, younger girls are NOT in that 50% demographic, they're in Seoul.

As for appreciating the culture, I think you're just not being honest with yourself. Yes, nothing wrong with learning about the history and culture but let's not pretend that hot sexy kpop looking gals aren't a big part of the equation. If that was the case, why aren't you learning about Indian history/Samoan history/etc (no offense against Indians or Samoans), just picking whatever random country. Unless you are Korean, I don't think you can play that card.

I've only been to Korea twice but here's a little taste of this culture you want to study.

Old women (ajummas) will just blatantly cut in front of you on the regular. In some places, they don't flush toilet paper in the toilet. They just throw it in the trash because they don't want to clog the toilet. Taxi drivers will fuck you up. Not physically but more they'll drop you off in wrong locations. You will need to have a lot of patience. You might meet the coolest, hottest girl that you might even end up wanting to marry but guess what, her parents don't want her marrying a foreigner and her family and friends will give her shit, stressing her out, thus stressing you out. Yes, I might be a little jaded but just trying to put things in perspective. Why do I still plan on going back there? Because they make bomb ass kim bap and the girls are hot and sexy. Period

If you truly want culture, I'd actually recommend Japan moreso. At least people are polite and mind their own business (on the surface)

Yeah you see them sometimes in Seoul but it's mainly a rural/less developed thing. I live in a small-town with 250,000 or so people and I see them all the time. Mainly in public places, like bus stops and shit. Schools and restaurants have nice ones.
