I was going to laugh at the comments to the Daily Mail article, but they don't accept comments. I wonder why...

Rose Byrne is pretty sexy, her accent is sexy. Even in her 30s I think she's attractive and feminine. The perfect balance between hot and cute.

She hasn't cut off her hair like the other fem dykes in hollywood.

However her views on the business side of things are very naive. Studios only give a fuck about getting more people to buy tickets, they dont care who is doing the production work, just as long as its high quality (which obviously is going to be majority male).

RB is the ideal look I have for lizards. WB isn't even a question. I would need strong RvF interventions to not get oneitis if I was around her.

I will say this: I actually respect this more than a feminist that majored in poetry whining on blogs about not enough "support" for womynz in science fields. If they see a market to capitalize on (and given all the go-girlism maybe they are on to something), and they have what it takes to make it work, the outcome will speak for itself. At the very least they are putting their money where their mouth is.

WB repeatedly for a week or two.

Would avoid her company as if it was the epicenter of a zombie virus.

She is still sexy, but hitting her wall about now:

Apparently she's been all over Aussie Television and American Movies but I checked IMDB and haven't seen one thing on the list. *shrug*

WB now, Would Have Banged Harder in her early 20's.

I'm not sure these Empowered Actresses ever have any idea what type of entertainment women prefer to watch. If you want hit, female-orientated movies, aim for some combination of this:

RE: Rose Byrne launches all female production company
Prime Rose Byrne was a bonafide cutie, even if not so much hot, so to speak.

Those large, doe-like eyes; small, dainty nose; and soft chin and jaw-line really trigger male protective instincts, and, as Dan Woolf noted, inklings of one-itis.*

In the film Troy, she plays Trojan priestess Briseis, an adorable ingenue who gets kidnapped by Greek warrior-hero Achilles (played by Brad Pitt).

Of course, she falls for and spreads her legs for Achilles, who in the movie exemplifies the Dark Triad par excellence, in a great Truth in Television moment illustrating via a two-for-one both Stockholm Syndrome and the notion that "these hoes ain't loyal."

Achilles, of course, goes on to kill her cousin Hector (played by Eric Bana).

[Image: achilles-and-briseis-3-achilles-and-bris...45-145.gif]

*Another actress who inspired a similar reaction from me when I saw her for the first time was Filipina actress/singer Kathryn Bernardo, while I was watching TV this winter in Manila.

RE: Rose Byrne launches all female production company
Is there any proof that middle aged women want to watch middle aged women on t.v. to begin with? I don't see that demographic as being self supporting.

All the popular chick flicks and franchises like Hunger Games feature handsome men (boys really) with young teen looking women.

Even lifetime shows are more about younger alpha widow to be women being "exploited" by handsome alpha men.

Rose Byrne also built her entire career on being a young looking tasty piece of ass in horror films and what not.

I don't think they put much thought into this as usual. Who are their financial backers going to be? What happens when they can't produce any hits to justify an all female production company.

I can't say I'm into these kind of looking girls at all.

Either way, it's going to be an unmitigated disaster.

RE: Rose Byrne launches all female production company
The company itself can be all-female.

The people they hire will likely be 99 percent male, since actually staging productions requires hiring "crews" that do everything from building sets to running cables to installing complicated-but-temporary electrical systems.

These crews come from various guilds in the entertainment industry. Needless to say, no one is trying to raise the number of women in these guilds, because the guilds do the non-glamorous grunt work. Instead, they just want women running the show.

People sense this instinctively, which is why support for female leaders is shaky at best. When the going gets rough, workers and the public like to see leaders who can step down from their perch, roll up their sleeves, and jump in with the rest of the crew to help with the (ahem) manpower. That rarely happens with women. That's a situation that's unlikely to ever change.

Excellent point. I learned this with the first two IT jobs I had. I was the only man in both departments. My first job at a bank had about 50 employees and a four person IT staff consisting of one VP, one manager, one supervisor, and me. The three women above me had no technical background and started there as bank tellers right out of highschool. All hell would break loose if I left the building for 5 minutes. I stopped taking lunches and vacations just so I wouldn't get yelled at or shamed in meetings.

It took me a couple jobs to realize the #1 thing to look for in a job is one with supervisors and managers who actually held your position. That and a large crew of guys that have your back. You can take a break if needed and aren't on call 24/7. There is nothing worse than being the only man in a dept full of "supervising" women with limited functional knowledge.

I am glad I am at a point in my life where I don't have to deal with that anymore.

Edit: shit, I forgot, WB.

Kermit

Yes, I'm actually super in favour of this.

If women are really discriminated against in the film industry and they are successful and produce scripts and films that are enjoyable to watch, all the more power to them.

Even if they don't, at least they have the balls (heh), to create jobs, rather than just demanding that men hand them jobs.

Of course, this is assuming that it really is a woman's money that is being invested into this project.

However, if they fail spectacularly, this is only going to benefit our arguments.

"I can count on one hand, literally, the number of women I have ever met that can take that kind of advice, accept it and make use of it without their epic egos setting metaphorical fire to the conversation.

Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector.
"
