Yeah chronic illnesses are a huge bummer. Sorry to hear that you have to deal with that.

I got chronic back and neck pain from a car accident(50mph into a tree). I found that Voltaren Gel(diclofenac sodium topical gel) works really well. It works as an anti-inflammatory gel and relieves pain pretty well for me. However, here in the US, it is by prescription.

All human beings are, in essence, given two things as absolutes: life and death. Everything else is basically extra. Human existence ultimately boils down to these two things.

So ultimately, human life is about figuring how to deal with these two things.

In other words, human life is about dealing with two fundamental questions regarding existence:

How do I intend to live?

and

How do I intend to die?

I was looking for the reason for our existence ever since age 13-14. I delved deeply into Christianity - the religion I was born into. I studied all major religions and then moved to philosophy. I also tried some alternative techniques later on. When I found out the truth at age 19, I was in a way relieved about the simplicity of it all.

But then I was still met with the same challanges - basically not much changed except for a certain detachment. Money problems were still money problems, romantic challanges were still the same and life was still life with all it's difficulties.

What if you found out that this life is basically an existence similar to the matrix and your true self is something immaterial and divine? What if you knew that death and even a wasted life would not make a difference, because you get a reboot in the matrix and get a new life right afterwards? Would you live differently? What would change?

Best is in my opinion always the choice of trying to fill your life with as many experiences as possible. Doing something is generally better than doing nothing - even if you try and fail.

I still believe in God, but I have issues with the way he does some things. I figure it's me, not him. Anyway, I've wondered about the meaning of it all, and what to live for. I'm not at all suicidal, but I'd like more of a sense of purpose and meaning and connection than I currently have.

I've recently reached the conclusion that you have to stop and smell the roses. That saying is often used to mean you can't work all the time, and you have to allow time to relax and enjoy yourself. I'm perfectly willing to seek hedonistic pleasure, but I'm interested in something more.

To me stopping to smell the roses means focusing on the simple pleasures in life. The feeling of the sun on my face. The simple pleasure of waking up in the morning. There's an intangible sensation of existence that is inherently good. People who have near death experiences become highly aware of it.

I've decided to focus on this. I've started telling myself at random moments that it's good to be alive. I want to condition myself to focus on this.

One thing I've noticed from this mindset is that talking to younger women definitely counts as smelling the roses. Even if I think she's out of my league, or I don't have time for anything with her, or my logistics are fucked...

So what! I'll talk to her, and enjoy what LOZ would call her estrogen soaked essence.

Can't argue she's not being somewhat honest.
Question is, will she be honest with herself, in that by setting her standards so high, she'll quite likely never be satisfied?

RE: Forum "Lounge" - Everything goes!
That's an excellent attitude. Although much of our lives are dominated by some heavy and horrible events there still are some very simple happy moments to be found

I have been around mentally ill people in some way or form for the better part of a decade. Some of them have been schizophrenic or OCD, panic attacks, etc. Yet for some reasons they live rather happy lives. I guess when you've seen some things and some stuff you appreciate what are thought to be small things.

Personally I have dealt with depression, sometimes suicidal, since I was 5 which is about a 22 year period. Small things like a snowball fight, or finishing a good book I appreciate. I could go on for a long time about chronic health conditions, being treated horribly by peers, ostracized and bullied. Its been hell. But I am glad that I have a tight knit family, places like this website to learn from, and having a warm and dry place to sleep. Its well below zero now this evening outside my door and I hope not to hear about or see any frozen hobos. Taking a moment to ground yourself and disconnect from the madness is a very good idea.

If God cannot exist due to the occurrence of tragedy.

Yet in the absence of God, tragedy occurs nonetheless.

Then tragedy is the fault of man & man alone.

I get Voltaren for free via prescription. Banana

Either one works though. To be honest, I didn't even know they made ibuprofen gel!

Also, I like to mix with biofreeze or icy hot and that helps immensely!

Jeez. Have colonoscopy on Wednesday, get a bronchitis and sinusitis by Friday which could develop into a pneumonia (common sickness going around it sounds like). So on antibiotic for 10 days soon after which is not ideal. I hope I don't really piss of the chrohns.

Take pure vitamin C powder at corresponding doses:

http://www.doctoryourself.com/titration.html

It is easy to self-dose. Pneumonia is not much of a problem with high-dosage vitamin C treatment, but you will never get it with our current for-profit and for-depopulation medical system. Most pharma-paid studies usually cap out at 500mg per day so as not to prove the efficiency of it. Though of course there are plenty of studies out there proving just that as much as the pharma-dependent pharma-peer-reviewed papers will deny that.

What's a decent way to buy plane tickets these days?
Just go to expedia or travelocity or something?

Taking a domestic plane flight soon, and I don't usually travel, so I'm not sure what the good way to do this is.

I don't particularly need to "hack" and do something insane to save a hundred bucks or so, but I'd rather not lose a bunch of money because I purchased from the wrong site.

Anybody got any tips?

Got neck and shoulder pain from bad posture? Why not try these stretches?

Buy 1 month or more ahead of time if possible, price starts going up sharply at 2 weeks to departure

Use one of the aggregators you mentioned but also check southwest's website since they don't participate in the aggregators.

The more flexible you are with alternative nearby airports, the more and possibly cheaper options you will have. Similarly, if you can stand multiple stops and/or odd times, you may find combinations of legs that are cheaper than the standard ones. The aggregator will have filters for number of stops and departure/arrival times.

Check the airline's policy on checked bags, some charge extra and that may not be reflected in your aggregator's displayed price.

Check the plane/flight number/seat number on seatguru.com, so you don't get stuck on a "red" seat.

Just some tips off the top of my head, hope they help.

Out of curiosity, have you actually tried to dose yourself with Vitamin C when you were sick?

Furthermore, have you ever actually had pneumonia and cured yourself with Vitamin C? I want to know if you are basing your statements on personal experience. How did you deal with the diarrhoea?

I think people deserve to know what you are basing your advice on before they take it, and presumably you do want people to take your advice, or you wouldn't be sharing it?

Personally, my patients that dosed themselves with Vitamin C seemed only to get worse. This makes sense to me, because Vitamin C is scarce in nature but is essential for bacterial and viral replication; by taking Vitamin C, you feed the infection. But maybe I've been coming across the wrong patients.

What I've been having very nice success with is Vitamin A. Vitamin A is important for the immune system and inner body linings, such as the bronchi. For patients with stubborn colds and coughs, I've been giving Vitamin A 200 000 iu stat and have been seeing good results. That's not to say I don't give conventional treatment if its indicated, but I think Vitamin A deficiency is more common than supposed, and it's amazing to see someone's cold or cough clear up within 24 hours of a megadose of Vitamin A. I kept catching coughs from my patients but I started supplementing with Vitamin A myself (1000iu a day, although I did take the initial 200 000iu dose to load up) and since then my immunity has been rock-solid.

Zinc is also pretty good for drying up viral secretions and has also been shown to reduce the incidence of colds. Zinc and Vitamin A are a great combination.

It's weird to me, because zinc and vitamin A have some science to back them up, but no one takes them (examples of their efficacy in children:
http://www.cochrane.org/CD008524/BEHAV_v...ars-of-age

http://www.cochrane.org/CD005978/ARI_zin...-59-months
)

Instead, everyone is fixated on Vitamin C, which consistently doesn't work from what I've seen.

That said, I do not believe in continuous, regular supplementation, and I do believe people should take regular holidays from supplements when feasible. I also would not use nutritional supplementation to deny someone conventional medicine, where conventional medicine is required, for example in pneumonia.

It's always funny to me when someone talks about vitamins with an accusing finger at Big Pharma, consider that Big Pharma owns all the vitamin companies. Whether you take conventional or alternative medicine, Big Pharma is still going to make money off you.

This is good advice, but I've found that often you can get a great deal buying the day before you want to fly. I do this for work, because plans always change up to the last minute, and I often get a great price. If you did it for personal travel, you'd want to do it when the travel is optional.

Sometimes you get burned badly on price, or have to wait and fly a day later because the price is so bad. When they jack the price up real bad, I've found that they're over booking the flight, and will force you onto a later flight. They'll give you a free ticket as compensation, but the jacked up price basically covers the so called free ticket. There's no point buying a ticket when you're almost certain to get bounced.

Over time, it averages out pretty well. The times you get burned with a high price average with the times you get a real bargain.

One big advantage of buying last minute: if you book with Orbitz, you can cancel within 24 hours of booking with no penalty, even if you only booked 24 hours before the flight.

From the Houston Reddit:

OP: I've been In Houston now for about 3 months. I can't seem to click with anyone. Friends, Dates, even just to have a beer with someone. I'm fat, but that's never been an issue. Maybe I'm just too Seattle for this city?
I'm 24, 25 next month. I'm in marketing, I do photography. I'm a single mom but completely independent from any kind of welfare. I have my flaws, so maybe I can understand the dates.. but friends?! NOT ONE PERSON?!
I'm a born and raised Texan, I've just Been gone for a long while. I moved here for my job.. I would've never left Washington. ?
Any advice on how to meet people in general? No luck on dating sites.

Random Guy: How big are you?

OP: A solid 220 lol. But FRIENDS ?!?!!! I had a million friends, hot bearded dudes everywhere I've ever lived ?

Some other dude told her to drop weight and he's downvoted.

It's always funny to me when someone talks about vitamins with an accusing finger at Big Pharma, consider that Big Pharma owns all the vitamin companies. Whether you take conventional or alternative medicine, Big Pharma is still going to make money off you.

Yes - I used it at doses of up to 75.000mg per 24 hours with amazing results - sore throat disappears within 2 minutes, most symptoms even with high fever are gone, simple weakness and sniffles remain.

The dosage is only different - pneumonia is only a far more severe cold and requires a far greater dose.

And yes - not only I have done this but also now a huge number of friends and close to my entire family.

Your patients getting worse only must have those reasons for it:

1) Using crappy bodybuilding supplements that have more talk than any vitamins in it or toxic ingredients - those supplements DO NOT WORK!!!! EVEN IF YOU TAKE THE RIGHT DOSAGE! eASIEST IS TO buy pure l-ascorbic acid.

2) They don't use the right dosage which is tremendous - you take as much as necessary until you feel much better.

Obviously you have not read through the links I put there. Dr. Cathcart for example was a leading and rather famous doctor who created various patents and later in life found the truth about those issues.

This is nothing new by the way - Dr. Klenner did it already in the 1950s with thousands of his patients starting with pregnant mothers and going on with their babies - or as the nurses called them - the happy babies since his bunch he cared for in the big hospital were always the more happy ones.

So with all due respect - do your diligence before dissing something that Nobel price laureates in medicine and leading doctors have advised.

And for fuck's sake be a good sport and try mega-dosing yourself next time you have cold or a sore throat, read the bloody links and the few studies and you WILL FIND OUT WITHIN 30 MINUTES WHY THIS WORKS. It's truly as if a virgin tells me non-stop that this woman-fucking cannot be so good as his hand and expects trillions of studies to prove it to him before he puts his dick in a pussy. It is as easy to prove on yourself!

Your kidkney will be fine by the way - this crap about vitamin c causing kidney stones was taken out of thin air. What vitamin c from doses 15000mg does is that it dissolves 3 sorts of kidney stones - there saved you another need for a painful procedure.

Sorry to be belligerent, but this issue is SOOOOO FUCKING EASY to prove and really the only reason why most of my close friends and now family numbering into the dozens have been convinced of using orthomolecular supplements and medication - not because I am the most charismatic man alive and duped them all into believing it.

And no - big Pharma owns most SHITTY VITAMIN COMPANIES - THE ONES WHICH ARE GOOD AND EFFECTIVE ARE NOT BIG PHARMA OWNED, but are the mid-size family ones which have non-toxic working products - NOW FOODS, YOUNGEVITY, SWANSON - guess why? L-ascorbic acid can be used even created for feed lot, because animals get working vitamin C at high doses while humans get crappy toxin-laden idiotic stuff that has ingredients in it that block the effectiveness (early on I experimented even with stuff and took high doses of vitamin C laden with additives that you could get at every gym - it should have worked at doses of 25.000mg, but did not - got a bloated stomach. Only later did I find out that there was so much filler in it that it could not work - was certainly also toxic. That is what is available to most people and of course it does not work.)

And by the way - I do not disagree with vitamin A or zinc.

There is a funny saying among the orthomolecular doctors, when a patient with an uknown disease but multiple symptoms enters his practice:
First he makes you go orange - vitamin A overdosing to the max - orange skin color is harmless, but takes 2 weeks to recede.
Second the orthomolecular MD lets you have a good dose of diarrhia - megadosing of vitamin C - sign that you have had enough for a while (though vitamin C dissipates quickly).
Third he makes you go red, flushed until your skin stings with a million little mini-bees - B3 niacin reaction as he may max that one out too as it battles also some conditions.

But hey - at least you will feel better and what he has given you cost a few bucks and cannot be patented.

Maxing out all three levels is a good guideline especially for example if you give a patient 50.000mg within 3 hours and he has NO DIARRHIA - then you know that he really has something serious. Some get a reaction only after 200.000mg, but of course I have no experience with that since the toughest thing I help to treat was bronchitis and 60.000mg was enough for that person.

RE: Forum "Lounge" - Everything goes!
I've had encouraging results in staving off colds/sinus/respiratory infections before they take hold, by putting a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide in my ears and letting it bubble away for a few minutes.

You need to get it early - if you leave it until the symptoms are unmistakable, it doesn't seem to do much to shorten the duration of sickness - but if you do this a few times at the first signs of a cold, I'm almost certain these sorts of conditions can be prevented, rather than cured.

I also get good results from fending off my cough/cold with high dose vitamin C. I don't go as high as 75000mg though, that seems like a lot. Smile

Kanye West has a new place in my heart. I remembered this track from when I was in high school and would flash my trick cell phone to the girls bus over the road to get their numbers.

Supposedly 'smart' enough to get into college.
Yet not so smart as to check the likelihood of job vacancies & industry viability, 3-4 years down the track for whatever contrived degree they've chosen...

^ Pfft. Hater.

Underwater drumming is about to go large, and if you're not smart enough to get in on ground level well then don't complain when you get left behind.

Diarrhea is the last thing I want. I'm recovering from 4 days of laxatives from the prep. Not sure where you can get these super dosages of vitamin a or c though.
