Russian Standard Vodka in California? Thoughts?
I saw a show on the cat that makes Russian Standard Vodka. He's got mad dough and a real playboy.

So I tried the stuff in Miami Beach when I was last there last month as I don't think I saw it before in California.

I gave a bottle to one of my friends in Miami Beach, and he said, "Cool, I already have a huge bottle" and pulled out the big bottle from his kitchen.

This stuff seemed mad popular in Miami, and I asked biz partner, who is a heavy vodka drinker in CA if he had ever seen it and he said "no".

Has anyone seen this stuff in CA?

What are your thoughts on it?

How does it compare to Ketel, Goose, Belvedere? Taste?

Hangover factor?

I've tried it. Nothing special but this one wins in my book for the lowest hangover factor.

I drank it a bit here in the Baltics. I find it on par with Absolut and Stoli.

I find Absolute to give nasty hangovers. I wont touch it.

It's a great mixer. On my last trip me and my buddy drank a 1.5L over the course of a few days and neither of us experienced any considerable hangover. It's also good on the rocks if that's your thing. I personally stay away from vodka unless I'm mixing it with something.

You can find the stuff all over in CA. I've seen it in BevMo and supermarkets. You can get a big bottle for about $25. For the price it's one hell of a vodka.

Another good vodka I've tried (found it at trader joes) is Volganaya. You can get a 1L bottle for about $12.

When you're next in L.A., check out the vodka bar.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/silo-vodka-bar-los-angeles

They have a walk in freezer with wall-to-wall vodka. Bring your date into the freezer (they have parkas) and hold her close so she doesn't chill.

They even had Bison grass vodka (not as good as the stuff that used to come from Polish friends, but still good).

Also, Kirkland vodka is underrated. It's extremely clean (distilled 5 times) and made at the same facility as Grey Goose. It's probably the same stuff. I drink a lot of vodka on the weekends and never get hung over. To a man of leisure, price is no consideration to you. To the other guys, $29 or a 1.75/handle can't be beat.

Zubrowka is one of my favourites.

Russian Standard is decent but not up there with the premium brands. I prefer Stoli.

Strange, Absolut gives me no hangovers. I used to drink it exclusively in Poland. Smirnoff gives me worser hangovers.

In Riga, Russian Standard is sometimes the best vodka a bar will have. It's surprisingly how a lot of bars only have 1 or 2 types of vodka.

I know more then a few alcoholics that rep Blue Ice, never tried it as I'm not a vodka drinker.

Interesting. My friends Dad was one of the original investors in that one.

Never tried it though.

Yeah, I have never stepped into a Bevmo so maybe that's why I missed it.

Good call. Had that for the first time last weekend. With a soda, it's my new go-to Voka. 80 calories per drink, no hang over.

Here's a site that rates Vodka if it's helpful
http://vodkabuzz.com/vodkas/
Saw my typo German method... For those who don't know you put a mark on your hand for every drink. I put two shots in each one and tried about 7 different vodkas against Blue Ice and nothing came close.

I was looking at maps of where they drink more Vodka and found this site. What do you think?

If you're looking for the best deal in Vodka at the store, try Tito's Handmade Vodka from Austin, TX. 2/3 the price of Belvedere and it tastes better.

I doubt that you will ever find it in the clubs, though. They pay absolutely nothing on marketing and packaging - all of your money goes into the vodka. It comes in 1 1/2 L jug with a label that looks like it was printed on someone's home ink jet.

On that note, never ask for Tequila in Finland. Worst shot ever.
