My plans for the new year:
Like most of you, my last planned social obligations end at new years eve. I have reached such levels of stress and emotional rawness that I have decided to sabbatical at my house. Staycation/Hermitage/Etc

I have long wanted to do one of those Muay Thai camps that YMG champions, but I don't yet have the resources. I am currently in the states and trying to build up my business so that I can afford to travel.

I am looking for feedback, ideas, and just general thoughts.

Starting that Sunday as I recover from the NYE, I plan on disconnecting. I am not sure for how many days.

I am pulled in so many directions. I just want to focus on Work, Sleep and Meditation. Get myself back to a good place, mentally. I won't be cutting out all forms of exercise, just gym.

Those first few days I want to cut out:

- ALL social media
- ALL meetings with friends
- ALL tv/stimulations/videogames
- Main stressors: DJ, Music Production, Gym, Cooking, Making money outside my main business venture

I want to rewire my brain for good nutrition, sleep patterns, and healthy activity.

I want to let go of things I cannot control, and protect myself from emotional vampires (certain members of my family).

I know this isn't sustainable, that isn't the point. I am looking for a HARD reset.

Anyone ever tried it?

All meetings with friends? Those can be healthy.

I haven't done something like this that was more than just a weekend break from friends, responsibilities, ect. Honestly, I would go on like a two-day bender by yourself. Go buy a big bottle or two of scotch, bourbon, gin, or whatever you can sip on the rocks. Then, just sit there and sip your drink and get good and hammed up. Just sit there and think, read a book, research stuff on the internet (it can be hard to avoid distractions on the internet but just focus on what you want to read about), go take a walk in an isolated place where you aren't going to run into people. Basically just get deep into your own mind without input from other people and see if you have any epiphanies or good ideas or anything while on the bender.

After that couple days if you had any ideas, put them into action. If not, at least you tried. Then go back to trying to better your body and mind instead of killing your liver and brain cells, but I would honestly try this for a couple days and see what happens. I figured a few things out when I did this one weekend a few years back.

RE: My plans for the new year:
If you feel the need to cut out the time you spend with your friends, you should then reconsider maintaining your friendships with them. You should spend time with people that make you grow.

Family is important. If they drain you emotionally, just keep them at a safe distance.

It will take a lot of discipline to achieve this goals of yours, but they can be done. Keep your head straight. Remember that small steps are better.

I admit to being a bit emotional on the original post. I will be very careful about cutting anyone off permanently. I mainly meant that I needed some downtime from the people in my life. It shouldn't last long, but I need to focus on some other things first.
